I am not a fan of westerns at all, and at first I didn't really care about the guy but I do like how his face is hidden from the reader.

As for judging a character by his/her appearance, I do it all the time. I had somebody call me shallow because I said I don'tt like M. Bison because I think he looks stupid lol

Appearances aren't everything when it comes to liking a character for me, but it definitely plays a role. I probably wont like a character that I think looks dumb.

Again, to clarify, I do not think anything is wrong with liking a character based on just an appearance. I love Kira, mostly based on her appearance. She's my second favorite character.

In terms of a "good/great design', however, i feel the appearance should be reflective of the character, which in this case we know to little about to judge yet. Once I hear his bio or see his gameplay, maybe I'll be able to appreciate it more.

I think most think this is Salazar, so we kind of already know his personality and backstory in a way. He's an American who somehow found his way into Outworld and started selling his skills to warlords, including his current master Kotal. He's the silent type, and very intelligent and dangerous.

If that's not appealing to you, that's on you. Don't try to police what people can like and not like.

Just saw a picture of Erron Black after some hunting, and my preliminary thought is that I like the design even though it doesn't immediately strike me as something from the MK universe. I'm hoping they don't let a character with some promise go to waste here, especially after seeing the reaction of people on this board (and in other places) being overwhelmingly positive.

Nothing wrong with that. I guess at the end of the day, its just something new and different, that could've just as easily blown up in their face. At the moment though, it seems to be a success.

Erron Black is gonna kick Scorpion from the first place if they give him a chance.

That is something Ed Boon doesn't want, so they aren't giving him a chance, much like Rain (they didn't even showed Rain on the ranking list, because he was #1 most played, that is something that can't happen, Boon thought)

if you dont get why people like the design then you just dont like the design, theres nothing to get lol. not that theres anything wrong with that...

I gotta say, I can't remember MK fans ever being this hyped over a new character, especially considering that we don't even know yet if he's truly in the game.

It's refreshing instead of pages and pages of skepticism, insults and anger. lol

Yeah, after seeing the pic a few times, Erron Black or Salazar or whatever, I have to say that I really like it a lot. It's unique to MK, but to me, I just think it looks cool. I'll wait to find out more before the hype level goes through the roof, but while Takeda, Jacqui and other's have been intriguing, this character eclipses them from a design standpoint alone.

Of course...

As I said, we don't know a ton about these newbies yet. Takeda's feels like an origin story. What could be become? I'm definitely interested.

So has anyone read issue 2 yet? Is it out digitally and I'm just missing it? I thought #2 wasn't coming until February 11th or something along those lines.

the print issues(3 chapters at a time) come out twice a month or something like that, and the digital ones come out every sunday(1 chapter at a time)

A lot of people say they think his design seems out of place , but if you think about it, if you would have never seen Kotal Khan or D'vorah in gameplay videos, and then saw the page where Khan, D'vorah and Black are all in chains, you probably wouldn't think any of them seem to fit.

Erron Black looks great, he's got to be in this game along with Fox.

Why would Fox be in MKX? He was a throw away character that got sliced in half by Takeda.

He definitely looks really cool and I hope he finds his way into MKX.

If he does die in the comics, I hope he is either revived as a playable in the games (which, let's face it, is NOT that far of an idea considering how often people are revived in this series) or is at least DLC for a "What if?" characters.

You knoooow, even if he IS killed before the 25 year turn of events, he might still be a playable character during the first part of the game during the Netherrealm War.
