I don't see the problem with it. Pretty much just a nod to the older games and since it's a palette swap it wouldn't take up a character spot. Just like in MK9, you could fight MK1 Reptile, MK2 Noob, MK2 Smoke, and MK2 Jade. They didn't take up any slots or limit the game in any way at all. I don't know why it would matter if they did something similar to that again.

The iron skin fan art?

That reptile fan art is awesome...I wish that was an alternate.

Its hard to tell but he looks human in that right? Looks like a human wearing scale armor.

That fan art looked horrible. Looked like a cyborg jumbled mess.

I rather have his Deadly Alliance look more than that, and I despise that look too.

I'm personally not feeling this fan art. Its cool an all, but i dont think its a good fit for Reptile its to robotic and i personally never felt that connection for him. Now if his ninja outfit had reptilian bone plating on it then that would sick as hell.

Yeah i think that design would look better on tremor lol.

But still its a really cool mock up of a variation. They got the variation page down pat.

But yeah I would still most like to see a reptile similar to the fan art that I posted. where he is a Saurian Ninja. Its so simple I dont see why (imo) they havent nailed a reptile costume yet. Theyve come close, but I still havent been like "yeah thats it. thats reptile"

I would not want Reptile to have that fan-art design. I would like him to be a full-fledged saurian cyborg. That would be AWESOME!

I personally think it's the best costume I've ever seen on Reptile. I've always loved his character but always thought his costumes needed a huge makeover.

Pretty sure Reptile will return. I've always preferred his human-ish form over his reptilian form. Lets not even mention that godawful MKDA design. His MK4 design is still my favorite.

Still, I hope they redesign Reptile completely for MKX

If Reptile is back, can we not make him a mindless grunt who gets slapped around by every good guy in the story mode? Reptile is an interesting character who has his own motives, yet in every installment that features an in depth story with cut scenes and an actual medium that can give us a true sense on his story, we never get to see it.

Let's actually see Reptile's pain as him knowing he's the last one of his race, let's show his bitterness towards Raiden as he believes he's responsible for the destruction of his home realm. And let's actually see Reptile have some depth and complexity to his character.

I always saw Reptile as a sympathetic villain that is not without redemption. For years I was hoping that we can see Reptile discover the truth of what happened to his race and that Shinnok was the one responsible, and maybe, just maybe he can work with the good guys. Who knows, with the death of Shao Kahn, Reptile is pretty much a free agent.

If he does come back I think his variation styles should reflect his play style.

We all know Reptile as the acid spitting, stealthy, and gravity defying ninja that he has always been since MK2.

So with that said we should see a style focusing strictly on his acid spit ability, what if we could have special moves where he can spit, spray, and puke acid across the stage where the special moves he provides gives off bleeding damage to the opponent. This could enhance his combos dishing out more damage.

Another variation can focus on his invisibility moves, maybe when he activates it opens up more moves that allow Reptile to move faster and gives him moves that can attack from different directions.

Then there's the gravity ball style, I feel like these gravity balls can work similarly to Raiden's trapping ability where he can plant gravity balls on the stage setting up traps while also using them as projectiles at the press of a button. This style encourages juggling combos and ariel combat.

The look, I don't really mind, as long as it reflects Reptile's practicality of use. Reptile in MK1 disguised himself as a human to blend in with the crowd during the first tournament, in MK2 he was in Outworld, and during MK3 he was a general in Shao Kahn's army. In this version who knows where he's going to be, but if he is going to be in the fore front then I say let him have a more Reptilian look, if he's going to be playing a double agent like he used to then I say have a more humanoid look. Either way we could have both variations to keep all the fans happy.

From what I understand Shinnok wasn't responsible for that race's extinction. It was Shao Kahn, who merged Zaterra to Outworld and killed everyone, with the exception of Reptile and Khameleon ( and who knows, maybe Chameleon too )

I am hoping Reptile is in. I also hope that during story mode that we aren't limited to playing as the good guys. I think it could be just as interesting to see some stuff from the other perspective and maybe let a bad guy or two have a chapter lol

Couldn't agree more.

MK does not just celebrate good guys. It has good evil and neutral and they have always been fairly represented. Except in mk9.

I too want to see the bad guys get some spotlight in the storymode.

I don't really mind the reptilian design but the feet bother me for some reason. If want to do claws then go all out and give him raptor legs or something. The giant toenails on oversized human feet doesn't look good IMO.
