I couldn't say it better. Exactly my point. I really pray for an eye-laser fatality AND a fatality inspired from the first mortal kombat movie. "i gave him a smile from ear to ear" ;D would fit him perfectly!
I really hope for oldschool Sonya. I like her in MK3 the most. She had the best fatalities there and a nice look with fine Specials. i really hope she has his kiss of death fatality back and not those stupid MK9 fatalities.

I hope for an eye laser but in an original way not use the laser to cut the opponant limbs or heads because that gets stale quick. The second idea would be too "dark" in my opinion. I think getting a knife and cutting the opponant through the cheeks would be just too brutal. It would be extreme. It makes me squirm thinking about it. Although I am pretty sure NRS could pull it off since in DVorah's fatality the bottom of the jaw falls aways.
Personally I got a gym class vibe from Sonya in Mortal Kombat 3. I did not like her costume at all. I hope to see a military inspired garb like her Deadly Alliance alt. Like a general or officer type of uniform but no a soldier. I agree with the moves from Mortal Kombat 9. Very close to Motral Kombat 3. I hope to see new fatalities wih Sonya like we have seen with Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden.

I hope this is fake because Kano looks like a fuckin bum in those screenshots. Also I hope he either he killed Jax and Sonya or they're seriously the worst special forces team ever if theyre still chasing him twenty years later.

I'm certainly not gonna read all 17 pages on here, just wanted to stop by and post my opinion on Kano's inclusion.
First, that was unexpected of him to return, but he's still alive and well! I've always been a fan of Kano, and at first glance of his current appearance, it's quite clear they took his design inspired from Hsu-Hao. He also looks reminiscent of Bryan Fury from Tekken. That was my first reaction to who he looks like in those shots. Those forearm guards and bicep guards looked a little out of place. I will need to see Kano in a higher resolution and some video of how he plays to give final judgement.
I'm very happy he's returning, yet a little surprised and worried he doesn't take up another more worthy character's spot. Seeing as Kotal Kahn already has his signature fatality, I wonder what they'll give Kano for his finishers? I hope they don't go overboard with heart fatalities, even Scorpion has one now with the heart flopping. I hope Kano's will involve that new chest laser.
Kano has to be NRS's favorites. They included him in MKvsDC, which was also unexpected. I would've guessed another character like Reptile would've taken his spot. He's been in quite a few games, and it looks like he ain't goin away any time soon!
I hope that ear to ear quote finally makes it in some how. So badass.

I think my feeling of being underwhelmed comes from the fact that the the most recently confirmed characters are the originals. We've seen them in plenty of MK games, so it doesn't really feel as 'next generation of MK' as we had hoped.
However, if you think about it, we now have 7 returnees from MK9 and 4 new characters. That's 11 characters out of a cast of 30. We've already heard this game will have more new characters than any other MK game, which means we should have around 12 new characters, of which we know four. Presuming we get some characters from the 3d era (not a lot, only the ones NRS like), that means it's entirely reasonable to have a good chunk of MK9 returnees.
So, 12 MK9 returnees
6 MK4-MKD returnees
12 new characters
I don't think anyone could complain about that? Sure, I'd prefer to see Reptile, Smoke and Ermac confirmed before Liu, Johnny and Sonya and I'd probably have traded Kano for a new character, but it doesn't work like that. There's a core cast in MK, and the majority of those will always stick around.
I can understand people not being hype for the recent reveals but I think you have to remember that we now have 7 MK9 returnees. Add in Quan Chi who's guaranteed, we have 8 MK9 returnees, which is the guts of that section of the roster.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you look at it logically, this was guaranteed. The only thing to be disappointed by is the characters (and arguably the method by which they have been) revealed so far: an MK4-MKD character redesign would have been amazing and another new character would be so good. But NRS have never been great at the pre-released stuff and we're guaranteed a good chunk of juicy new/redesigned characters within a month and a half I would say.
I can understand people not wanting the originals but that's life. MKX isn't made to your personal specifications, its the game NRS want to make. And it looks pretty awesome. Every fighting game has some disputes as to its roster: I'd rather pretend Sheeva didn't exist and write her out of the original storyline for a new character. I desperately wanted Fujin in MK9. That's life
actually quan chi would count as a mk4 and you could could count subzero as new character since this is i han or his brother and subzero has a dufferent voice actorI think my feeling of being underwhelmed comes from the fact that the the most recently confirmed characters are the originals. I don't understand this, what makes Kano less worthy of a roster spot? Who is more worthy, and why? Is he going to blamed if Rain, Fujin, Reptile, Kenshi, Baraka, ect doesn't make the cut?
Kano isn't Meat, Mokap, or Chameleon. He's not a joke character. He has fans who are thrilled to see him included in MKX.
He's just as worthy to fill a roster spot as the next MKT alumni. Just because he doesn't get a lot of love on MKO doesn't mean he's less of a character that deserves to benched (especially since he was one of the few MK9 characters to survive, and thus probably should have been expected to be in MKX). Just sayin'.

Worthy is the wrong word for it in my opinion. You can prefer one character to another but worthiness isn't applicable in this regard

I meant to say, as in more worthy of who the fans want over what the developers want, if that makes any sense. I'd personally much rather have Kano than most other characters that fans lurking around here would prefer like the much mentioned Tanya, Reiko, Fujin, Rain, etc.
Like others said, Kano was the bottom 5 or 10 characters played in MK9, that's what I was trying to go by, but not my personal opinion. I love Kano.

Meat, Mokap, and Chameleon? Oh, I'm sure they have fans, but the difference is that those three characters aren't really part of the MK universe in a serious capacity. Aside from MKA, where they received a token storyline to justify their inclusion on the main roster, those three have never been core cast members in any game and were simply unlockable...um, well, jokes...with the exception of Chameleon perhaps. But Meat and Mokap for sure are just "lawls" characters. Not trying to sound mean to any fans of them, but that's the plain truth. I'm all for Meat returning as a DLC "lol" character or even as a skin. But he just doesn't make sense as a core roster member...because he does not have and never really has had a true storyline. Same for Mokap.
Kano on the other hand is a true MK character with a history that wasn't arbitrarily contrived, if you know what I mean. Even if he had debuted in MK5 rather than MK1, he would have been worthy to fill a roster spot just the same as Reptile, Smoke, ect. Same goes for the likes of Mavado, Kai, or even Hsu Hao (a very disliked character). They've all been in the MK universe in a serious capacity, and thus could realistically fill a roster spot and be considered worthy of that spot. Especially with the way NRS is handling character designs these days.
It just baffles me when someone says a less popular character isn't really worthy of inclusion, because they may be stealing a "more worthy" character's spot. I think what these folks mean to say is, a more "popular" character's spot...
Not trying to start a flame war between characters, mind you. Just saying Kano has just as much right to be in MKX as any other legitimate character that isn't an obvious joke character with no realistic expectation of ever being seen on the main roster (Meat, Mokap, and possibly Chameleon).
He's worthy, in short.
Just my two coppers.

Isn't it possible for Sonya and Johnny to be something like narrators? Kinda like what Shujinko was in MKD but throughout the Story mode, instead of the characters' endings. Don't wanna go through all 18 pages but is it confirmed that they are gonna be playable and not cameo appearances?

From what I can tell Kano is pretty much revealed. but what is this about Lui, sonya, and Cage? any other details? Feeling lost

Based on a translation done by a fellow member here, there seems to be a very good possibilty that Johnny, Sonya, and even Liu Kang will be playable in MKX, and that the variation system will be used to differentiate their moves based on age. For example, one variation could be young Liu Kang, while a second could be 25 years in the future Liu Kang.
The story will supposedly follow Johnny and Sonya heavily, as well.
Possibly a 24 character roster (probably not true).
Possibly Kotal Kahn is Shao Kahn's son.
Stage Fatalities are in, DLC content (obviously).
And you're caught up for the most part.
This is all still up for debate, though, since the credibility of the article/magazine has been called into question recently. IE, the interviewers could have misinterpreted what Boon was saying, ect.
Well, this was wonderful news to come back to after a busy weekend.
I like it. It's not overdesigned, good to see him with a hairline again. They're not completely channeling Goddard, but the shirtless Kano look is a good one.
Won't comment on the bandolier until I know more. I can see where the Hsu Hao comments are coming from, though.
I'd really curious to see how Kano's fitting into the plot a few years down the line. Something tells me he's thriving in Outworld. He's never the most involved, plot-wise, but he's always fun to have around.
I'm happy. Cheers, NRS.

Pretty much this. I did the translation and I don't think anything as mistranslated but there is the possibility that their info was incorrect or (in the case of Kotal Kahn) that they said son while meaning heir or successor

Very interesting. And thank you for the concise summation. Not sure how I feel about this. I knew there would be a chance sonya and cage would be in. But Lui? I dont like that dead character's can just willy nilly come back to life. But hey, who know what the context is, if they explain it well enough I am all for it.

I know I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for this, but Liu Kang's death was never defined or outright confirmed (correct me if I'm wrong). I mean, yeah, he got crispy-fried, but he could have just passed out rather than succumbed to his wounds (as grevious as they were). And Raiden did retrieve Liu Kang in the final scenes of MK9, so who knows? Maybe Liu survived Raiden's unintentional electrecution, recovered (relatively speaking) and continued on with the remaining Earthrealmers...or went off on his own, disenchanted with his former mentor and unwilling to forgive Raiden for his transgressions.
I guess we'll find out for sure in 2015.
Just saw the new Kano design. I was never a fan of bald Kano, but I guess that's a given seeing as how this will be the future. IMO, MK9 Kano was the best Kano design ever.
Anyway, I love Kano and I am glad to see him return. He is my 2nd main in MK9, and he's an absolute beast in that game. I am hoping his gameplay is just as entertaining and fun to use as in MK9.

I'm down for Kano returning. He plays quite differently, and has a great look.
As for the rest of the "news", I'll just wait for confirmations. Seems quite unlike Boon/NRS to drop so much info at once(character confirmations, roster count, story elements etc.), let alone in a magazine.

You say that as if those characters don't have fans. Every character has fans.

I may not care for Kano, but I understand your reasoning, good sir.

Ive thought about that same thing. And Raiden could have healed Liu like he did to Jax earlier in the story mode. At least heal him enough from dying. And hey i think it would be a sweet new Liu Kang look if hes back with burn marks and what not. A darker Liu that isnt a zombie.
