Not just that, it's the fact she'd look like her daughter. A blonde, military type woman. Plus they both are in the special forces so unless they put Sonya in her civilian clothes it's just going to be weird to have two very similar looking characters. Even though they'd have totally different moves because NRS would have variety, it's just weird to have two characters that looks so alike. But whatever, I don't care who they add from the old cast as long as it's not Tanya. Just because people want her in, and I don't understand he appeal..she's lame.

So, the reasoning behind people saying she'd be redundant is how similar her appearance would be in relation to Cassie? And people just assume they're going to look similar from the get-go? Dude, we don't even know how Sonya's FACIAL STRUCTURE could potentially look like in this game, let alone if she's gonna have any military garb in the first place.

Really, I think it's best that we do away with this preconceived idea that Cassie and Sonya are going to look alike.

And, yeah, Tanya sucks.

Sonya always has military garb. Always. But I don't get why people would complain about two females in military uniforms, when we've had Kitana, Mileena and Jade all wearing the same things for years, just in different colors.

For me, I didn't really want Sonya after Cassie was announced because I feel like she'd play a bit similarly. Johnny at least has potential to play very differently with his Seido powers. Plus he's more Kung Fu in general. I rather another female who looks and plays totally different than Sonya/Cassie to be in. Particularly Tanya, since it would make sense for her to come into play at this time.

So we can't have 2 blonde military type women, yet people keep requesting 3 black haired females with a mask on, and 5 or so masked ninja-like characters? OK.

I had said in another thread that, Sonya should be killed off by Kano.

Another thought just came to mind.

I'm thinking that, Kano could have hunted down Sonya and knocked her unconscious. He then took her hostage and brained-washed her, leaving Johnny and Cassie pondering if Sonya is alive or dead.
This would of taken place after Sonya had Cassie, leaving Johnny fathering his daughter solo.
Sonya is a member of the Red Dragon by brain-wash. She has no memory of her family until the end of story-mode.

Ahhnhh! If only I could believe this, I would be so happy! But I just get the feeling that the information isn't totally legitimate. There's probably a combination of misinterpretation of information on the part of the writers of the magazine and a corruption of the meaning of it through translation.

I'll say that the original playable MK1 characters have priority in any game for me. Kano's my least favorite of that game but he's in already so that's good! If this turns out to be true I'm sold on the roster. Even if my other favorites such as Kitana or Jax are left out, I'll still be happy. I'm taking this with some salt, but I really really hope it's true. And I don't care who criticizes me fro loving the old characters.

They already have 4 different styles for 4 masked, Shao Kahn assasins, surely they can come up with 3 different variations for 2 special forces blonde females. Jax is also special forces and fights nothing like Sonya but drag!!

Yeah the issue isn't them playing similarly to each other especially after Injustice with Batman, Nightwing, and, Batgirl all being playable and having completely different styles.

How does that make it a bad game? The story progresses through 25 yrs so its no surprise that Johnny Cage and Sonya are in especially now that they have a kid and Liu Kang is a fan favorite, so again no surprise that he's in either.

Well in the end then, I'm probably gonna dislike Cassie Cage.

First I liked her, but then I thought she replaced both her parents, now I know all 3 are in, i'm not a fan of Cassie Cage anymore, wished there was another new character instead.

Can they just leave Sonya and Cage out of a game for once? Do they really add that much and are crucial to the story?

Hopefully, I'm beginning to rather Mileena be exiled and left out the game and saved for a time where her character actually goes thru some developement instead of being in the game just for the sake of being in it. Those characters loose depth to them, become stale, and rarely see any actual progression in terms of story.
