You're telling me that you'd rather see the MK staples out of the roster in favor of Frost, Tanya, Li Mei, Kira, Taven and Kobra?
That there are people who want the good characters out in favor of those?
And dlc IS part of the roster. Kenshi and Rain were in MK9. I can play with them, therefore they're fucking part of the roster.
I don't care about what mental gymnastics you make to force your badly constructed point across, but Tanya is in the roster. You want her? Well, pay for her. Show support that your "cream of the crop" character deserves. Speak with your money.
Don't want to? Then she goes back where she belongs. Not in another MK game.

I feel like I am addressing points that I did not even bring up. I said that for some people there are not enough characters that they would enjoy playing. That because the roster is so limited, some people feel that there are less characters they can enjoyable swap between.
In terms of roster, Swap Sonya for Kira? Does that even make sense? Swap Jacqui for Frost. That is a more logical comparison. Throwing some of the least liked characters names out there also isn't helping your point.
Tanya is not a part of the roster, she is 'supposedly' not even finished. You paid for Kenshi and Rain in MK9 so they are available to you. DLC is additional content, that you have to 1) pay for 2) must have a wifi connection in order to get. So it's not available to everyone. You're being an aggressive fanboy making up your own conclusions about what I said.

They get boring? If a character you like gets a brand new moveset... how the fuck can he get boring? How? Explain that to me. They keep the signature moves but everything else is different. Costume and strings. How do they suddenly get boring?
Take Scorpion for example. You've always liked this character. He's back again only now he has this really cool new look to him and his moves look very flashy and awesome. How is it that a character you've always enjoyed in the past and now looks even better than he has ever been, boring?
Does not fucking compute.
They went with the majority because the majority are the ones buying the game. So they picked the characters with the most use by us. Smoke and Cyrax being the ONLY odd choice being left out.
And the majority didn't request Fujin. Actually until recently and certainly not during MK9, Fujin wasn't that requested. He's cool and I want him in. He's for sure one of the kombat pack 2 dlc characters if he isn't unlockable in the game. But the majority wasn't asking for fujin. They were asking for Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Kitana... basically the faces of mortal kombat.

first off, this isn't mk9.5.
You're getting 8 new characters, plus 2 other that haven't really been playable before. Goro and Tremor. Goro is far more developed than he ever was.
Nearly a third of the roster is brand new compared to MK9.
Then you get the option of playing characters that were in MK9 in a brand new way. 3 brand new actually. They all got revamped movesets. ALL. Not a single one of them is worse compared to the MK9 version of them.
Want an entire new roster? Go play another game. MK isn't for you.

Frankly, that alone makes me wish we had the entire roster of MK9 playable in this game. I want to see how those characters would look and play like in this game.
I don't want a new roster for the sake of being new. Especially when most of the character YOU want in this game were duds in the previous ones.
Why should I want Mavado a character that had an AWFUL moveset in both games he was in, instead of maybe Ermac? Ermac I already know I'm gonna enjoy. With Mavado I have to hope they somehow fix everything about him. Same for Ashrah or anyone from the 3d era not called Kenshi (I don't count MK4 as part of the 3d era).

Now your just ignoring everything that was said. A character has a sertant personality and they have stuff added on to them. There play styles are meant to stay the same!!!!! This is how they get boring and really cus every place I go people are complaining about the roster. Also yes Fujin was requested during mk 9. Last the majority wanted the game to move on. First off, speaking only on roster and nothing else, MKX being MK9.5 in terms of roster is debatable. Especially considering 14 out of the 24 are literally from that game. However, whether you like that or not just comes down to personal preference. Aside from the newbies, there are absolutely no surprises in this roster. Kenshi was a given because of his following, as was Shinnok because of MK9's ending. It's entirely bland, and incredibly predictable.

Is it really all that new, though? It's not as drastic as the overhaul we saw in Deadly Alliance. Essentially, they are just taking 3 of the most prominent aspects of each character and enhancing the visual attributes they've already had prior to them by splitting them up, aside from the universal specials. Here and there are some differences and additions like we get with every game (like Liu Kang's Dualist variation) but it's nothing essentially groundbreaking. If I were to give my sister (who has no interest in MK what-so-ever) MK9 and have her play as Kung Lao, then give her MKX and have her again play as Kung Lao, I'm sure it wouldn't be all too difficult for her to get the gist of how he works, what his specials are, how he moves, ect ect.

Okay, first off, we're all stating opinions here, nobody died and made you king of the MK fanbase so why don't you tone it down a notch. Secondly, no one is asking for a brand new roster, we're asking for more diversity other than "Oh, here, new guys. Forget the other established ones." The new characters are fine, they're dandy, however there are still people from the Trilogy era who could've been swapped and taken the bench for one game.
As for your other points, you're absolutely right. We are not playing the old games, we are playing new ones. Which is exactly why you just countered your own argument. There is an entire generation of people who did not start off playing the Trilogy generation, they grew up playing the 3D generation and want to see those characters, or at least some of them, represented and given all this "newness" as Boon put it because those are the characters they associate Mortal Kombat with and this is a new game, with new stuff, and they want to see those characters get all this new stuff.

Hell, even Liu Kang got a break.
As to why you would want Mavado in the game, let's take a look at the work they did with Stryker in MK9 shall we? A universally hated character turned into a spec a gold in the eyes of the majority of the fanbase. Look at the uproar caused by Fujin just from not even 10 minutes of screen time and the dude ain't even playable. Even people who didn't want Fujin in the game agree he looks like a total badass and should've been in the roster now. So what exactly makes you so positive with all of their expertise, with their entire dedicated hard working staff that they cannot pull off the same thing for a character like Mavado, like Li Mei, like Bo' Rai Cho? Because according to the track record as shown in the past 3 games they've made, me thinks they probably can.
As an aside, this is the second time this week I've seen you go a wee bit hostile on people who have a different opinion than your own. Take a chill pill, bro.

Is there a fighting game that releases new games and scraps all of its old characters each time? I'm pretty sure Tekken, SF, SC, DOA, etc. pretty much keep entirely the same roster each game and add new characters to it here and there. Having iconic characters is pretty much the only thing that sells one franchise over another.

While this is true, MK has kept its sales while still benching people. I mean, look at Deadly Alliance. Even MK3 did well without Scorpion. Now I know those are never, ever gonna go away but hell, the prime example is Sonya missing from MK2 and we know that one didn't suffer.

That's not what people are asking. It would be nice if they did like street fight 4 did and added some lesser known characters as dlc

As an aside, this is the second time this week I've seen you go a wee bit hostile on people who have a different opinion than your own. Take a chill pill, bro.
What? MK3, UMK3, MKT, deception, armageddon and MK9. Very little?
Even Liu Kang got a break. Right. Good you mention that because so did Kung Lao. Or did your copy of MK deception had him as a playable character?
Yes, I know some characters from the first trilogy should've been left out. Jax being one of them. Especially when you already have Goro, Ferra/Torr and Kotal Kahn playing the powerhouse role.
And I do agree with you that those 3d characters can be made awesome. I never liked Smoke before MK9 and now he's one of my favorites. Great design and moveset revamp.
Same could be made for others, yes. However, those others would need an entire overhaul. The kind that the only thing they'd retain from their previous appearance would be their name. Most were clones. Others were uninspired both in design or moveset. Rather have that time being put into new characters, than simply bringing the characters back for the sake of bring character backs.
Even Kenshi, the undoubtly best character of the 3d era, had a revamped moveset. Before he was an Ermac clone. Now his telekinesis is based on his sword. He doesn't have Ermac's telekineses. He simply controls the sword at will and summons the spirits of his ancestors. Go ahead. Compare his specials in Mortal Kombat deception with his specials in MK9.
Yes, Stryker was made awesome. Then again ALL they needed was a different look for him. The moveset stayed pretty much the same.
There's a reason why the developers themselves, consider those characters BAD and kinda want to be done with them. There's a reason why Hsu Hao and Mavado were killed in the comics and confirmed dead, gone. The developers dislike them and a LARGE majority of the MK fanbase dislike them too.
Have you looked at character polls recently? Not MKO, TYM or any mortal kombat centric website. The kind from IGN and other sites with a large number of users. Have you? I have. And I can tell you the 3d era characters rank at the bottom. Only character from the first trilogy that ranks that low, is Sheeva. Nearly everyone else, minus Kenshi, rank above them. Kenshi is the only popular 3d era character that ranks high. Even Havik ranks in the 30th's area.
Every character has fans. Hsu Hao has fans. Meat has fans. Mokap has fans. Taven has fans. There are just too few of them.
At the end of the day, the majority gets what they want. And the majority wants this roster.
Those oddballs that want old favorites out in favor of random unliked characters, need to shut up and deal with it.
And it pisses me off when these kids come here asking for characters beloved by hundred of thousands to be left out in favor of a character they and their equally odd friend liked.

Worked for Tremor (keep believing the reason he's in is because of the petition with 5k signatures that was shown to Ed Boon two months before the game releases.), right?

Now you're argument concludes to "Why would they put a character I don't like in the game, that's stupid, I don't like him so he automatically sucks." Wake up call, man. Every character has fans. While you're sitting there thinking the likes of Mavado are duds, there are people who think Ermac, Baraka, Mileena, Kung Lao ect need to sit out a game because they're overused.
Aren't they doing EXACTLY THAT? What's Tremor and Tanya? Really known old favorite characters by the fanbase? Jesus...
and SF4 did what?
Sf4 added the favorites from each series. Guy, Cody, Adon, Gen, Rolento, Sakura from the alpha series. Yun, Yang, Dudley, Ibuki, Makoto, Hugo and Elena from third strike.
The rest were either brand new or were from street fighter 2.
I'm done. I'm just going to point and laugh or post a link to a circus music to deal with clowns.

I didn't forget Poison. Poison was added in SFxT for the first time in a playable role outside a Final Fight centric fighting game that didn't release outside of Japan and was awful. She was added thanks to fan support much like Tremor and then ported to SF4 (news flash: the additions to the latest update for street fighter 4 were ports from SFxT. Decapre is a Cammy skin with a different moveset)
And I know I said exactly what people want. That's the whole point of me laughing at you. You're complaining about getting what you want.
You want more obscure characters even if they are dlc. And you're getting exactly that so why the fuck are you complaining saying you want obscure characters?
The fact that someone with your mental prowess is unable to understand that and yet "feels bad for me" somehow makes me mad.
Do yourself a favor. Grab a book and go study.

Nitara could've been so awesome but they made an awful design for her.
Same for Hotaru.

Her moves look like Raiden's albeit with a few differences. She has a shock ball. A super man move... only thing different is she has less range.
She's a female Raiden.

That's not what people are asking. It would be nice if they did like street fight 4 did and added some lesser known characters as dlc

Hahahaha u don't get it at all. My favorite is already in. I can care less about the roster as of now. The problem is nrs should of listen more to there fans. The 2 dlc is just that 2 characters. I'm sorry can u repost that amount compared to street fighter. Hahahaha it's so funny how u try and act like your better than everyone else. In reality your just the same as everyone else hahaha. I could go in detail about how ashra and raiden are differnt but u are hopeless and for that reason I'm done.

Despite your argument, you're missing the big, giant flaw in your argument. They're all only bad in your eyes and that's your opinion, not everyone elses. As I said previously, as with Trilogy, an entire generation grew up loving these characters. These characters ARE Mortal Kombat to them. They are just as much a part of the franchise as the others so the only thing I have to say to you is.....get over it?

Plays nothing like scorpion.
Plays nothing like Johnny Cage.
Plays nothing like Kintaro. Actually plays nothing like any character ever in the history of the franchise.
Token black girl... yeah because there've been a lot in MK.
That giant huge humongous "flaw" in my argument has been addressed in a post to you. Every character has fans. THOSE? They have few. And they don't speak loud enough. Therefore those characters aren't getting in soon. So, like you said, get over it or do something about it instead of trying and failing miserably to act smart.
If you're going to act smart with me, be smart.
Don't ignore what I write. It makes you look like a buffoon.
Don't act like I don't want those characters in. I actually do. Just not at the expense of better, more liked and more developed characters. Which is what you and these people want.
It's fine if you like Hsu Hao, Mavado... anyone. He/she deserves a chance.
Just not at the expense of others.
If I, or pratically anyone, have to choose between Kung Lao or Bo Rai Cho, I'm choosing Kung Lao. Each and every time until I'm given the option of having both characters available. If by then Bo Rai Cho gets reworked into an awesome character, next time I might choose Bo Rai Cho instead of Kung Lao.
Can't wait for you to again ignore me writing this and failing again to act smart.
And in answer to a question you made to someone else, no I can't believe you're a counselor. Can't imagine you being good at your job when you don't listen to the other person
