It could mean we are getting two characters instead of one, either way ed boon is a huge troll and he could be even hinting at something completely different but if jax is back I don't think they'll reveal him this early because they'll get a lot of questions about how he is even alive, unless they reveal that he is a zombie or something

I completely agree with that, it'll devalue the whole story if people get resurrected left and right.

For example superheros like superman will never truly die because they'll just keep bring them back if they happen to die and for that reason I actually stop caring about superheros.

If they killed off almost all the good guys let them atleast stay dead for a few games.

Death doesn't mean much in Mortal Kombat.

My theory is that the boots are Quan Chi and some of the fallen warriors that will return on his side. Revealing Jax (for example) would be a strong indication that Quan Chi was in. Therefore they had to reveal him before Jax or any of the others.

Scorpion has always been an undead, so did Noob Saibot, Zombie Liu Kang was fucking lame..

I don't think it devalues the story if the dead characters show up. The game spans 25 years, that's a longer time frame than the whole series combined up to now. The deaths could be "undone" 10, 15 or 20 years after MK9, we don't know. It's not like an overnight thing...

Besides, we already know Sub-Zero comes back from the dead in MKX: "How does it feel to be a dead man?"

There is also some debate about it being a Johnny Cage hint given's Jack's line "here is Johnny!" and the pick showing him with sunglasses. Ed Boon himself even appeared to confirm the hint as a Johnny hint on another tweet,

As for the question, I hope Jax isn't in zombie form, but more-less returns human with more cybernetic implants. That is if he is going to be on the main roster. If he is not, then keep him undead as he looks in MK9 in the Netherrealm for story-mode and DLC.

It would make more sense for it to be Johnny Cage.

Hanzo Hasashi was killed (before MK1) and came back as the wraith Scorpion thanks to Quan Chi.
Bi-Han was killed ( during MK1) and came back as the wraith Noob Saibot (before MK2) thanks to Quan Chi.
Tomas Vrbada was killed (before MK2) and came back as the enenra Smoke (also before MK2).
Ermac is a bunch of dead people. Not sure what he is although "fusion of souls" has been suggested.

I would say Johnny and Jax, because both of their first names start with a J. Although, knowing that there are other characters that start with J. Jax & Johnny are most probable.
