I kinda suspected Cyrax wouldn't make it to MKX since Kano got some of his moves, the whole punching the opponent with the grenade in hand...

That Cyrax design is awesome. I would love him being in the game with a similar look. That said, the title is a bit misleading. There is no official confirmation about it. Just Boon being his usual shit-stirring self.

What did you tweet him? What was his response?

Part of me loves Cyrax, part of me hates him. He's the only character in MK that I view like this. It's primarily because Sektor is my favourite character. I'm not big on heroes, either. Lin Kuei Cyborg is pretty much the reason I love him.
Hoping for a selfish thing, Sektor. With limited roster, I know that no Cyrax/Smoke increases these chances. Although, I wouldn't mind cyber-smoke either. Twenty five years is a long time to capture and automate him before subzero retakes the Lin Kuei.

Cyarax looks badass in that design. They really screwed up last time by stopping at 4 kharacters for DLC when they sold very well. Ppl wanted more dlc n were blowing up his Twitter every day. I.hope with the large amount of klassic kharacters that wont make it,that they give us a bunch this time, especially since they r releasing it on more systems now.

That Cyrax fan art is fucking amazing. I've never wanted to play as Cyrax more than I do now.
*sigh and shrugs*...whatever. You do what you want with this game Boon.
I was really hoping they had learned their lesson finally and were going to keep the roster consistent like pretty much every other fighter out there but again, whatever go ahead and make a mess of things again like you did from MK4 to Deception

Boon said a long time ago that they were aiming to bring as much new in as possible. A consistent roster was never part of MKX.

I know this is still me kind of playing catch up with venting my disappointment with the direction they decided to take MKX heh.

The bomb attacks weren't really special moves, though. They only showed up in his throws and chain combos. His actual bombs were stage traps which are very different from Kano's grenades. I see the visual resemblance, but even if Cyrax came back with all those same bomb animations, he wouldn't play at all like Kano.
I'm not going to say Cyrax is a lock, but his return is extremely likely.

Yeah, let's go Tekken /SF route and make every single game with the same characters over and over.
So interesting. Much novelty. Wow.
Fuck cosistency. I like MK because it changes things every single game. It makes it unique compared to other fighting games, that eternaly playing it safe. And I hope, it'll stay that way.
For your classical MK needs you have MK1-3 and MK9. Nobody take this games from you and no need to turn every new game in the series into MK9+. Other fighting can do whatever they want do, but leave MK its freedom to be whatever it wants (figuratively speaking).
MKX is a MK game I was waiting for the last 8 years, since MKA. I want new faces in MK, I want new story, that doesn't have fucking boring and stale "Shoa Khan" as it main boss. I don't want it to be like stupid Ultra Hyper Mega Shitty Street Fighter 4+Alpha Omega Inifnity. And MKX shapes to be exactly what I want. Fuck oldfags. They had they time. Now time for something new. Like it or not.

Yeah anyone that spent any length of time playing MK9 knows that Kano's revealed grenade moves are nothing like Cyrax's. It's like saying Liu Kang's fireball is a copy of Cage's because they have some similarities.
I don't know why but these "clone" comments (and not just from JR) are starting to irk me. It's like people are just trying to find something to whine about because they're really butthurt over "my character isn't announced yet/ I don't like the new characetrs/ I just want to nitpick the game". Usually these comments are followed by "Cage and Sonya shouldn't be in the game because Cassie is already." Like they're all the same character.
I mean did any of you all naysayers play Injustice? Did Batgril play like fucking Batman? Did Killer Frost play like Sub-Zero despite having "ice powers" as a thematic moveset? Did including Batgril make Batman redundant? No, didn't think so.

Actually, anyone who spent a lengthy time figuring out character combos knows that the formula is identical.
Combo x Grenade x Combo x Grenade.
As a person who did in fact, spend a lot of time playing MK9 doing nothing but figuring out high percentage combos in training mode, I have to say, in an essence, yes, they are alike.
This combo from Kano alone was a hint to me that Cyrax was not going to make it, as much as jumping the gun that is. And now the tweet from Ed basically confirms it.
And "bus running late" means "He's not going to make it in time for the game".
SIMILAR DOES NOT MEAN THE SAME! I'm sick of these generalizations.
You don't even know Kano's frame data and you're asserting that "Kano uses bombs just like Cyrax". GTFO. EDIT: Here to make this crystal clear -
Comparison - Yes, while they share a SIMILARITY in having a explosive special attack that can be MB to re-launch into a juggle BOTH special attacks also function differently. Kano's is a melee attack (possibly a command throw) that does knockdown / knockback on hit and will only juggle with METER. Cyrax has TWO similar moves. That's ALL! The Sticky Bomb and his Back+2 normal overhead melee move that launches (30 frames). So yeah, some obvious similarities in juggling relaunching but they are functionally different moves. To imply otherwise is GENERALIZING and if we start doing that we can make claims that NONE of MK special moves are unique.

Cyrax had his time in the sun during MKDA so now let's have Sektor be the only cyborg in MKX and I'll be happy!

Well, true. You did say that Kano having Grenades would hurt Cyrax's chances, though (paraphrasing). That was the main point I was going for.

Like I told Jaded, that's only true by virtue of visuals/animation. It's not a problem from a gameplay perspective.Actually, anyone who spent a lengthy time figuring out character combos knows that the formula is identical.

Say what you want, still doesn't change the fact that you can do the same formula with both characters.

The more I think about it the more I am not worried about who makes it in MKX's main roster. The dlc will provide many of the missing character's.
A new story line is what mortal kombat needs. And in order to make that happen old characters must leave and new characters must be ushered in. Which honestly is fine by me considering the chances for a big turn out of dlc.
NRS saw the financial potential of dlc with mk9. They will not let it slide this time around. Many new fans who jumped on in mk9 will be looking for their old favorites to purchase as well as the long time fans. It will be a gold mine.
In short: Is it really not better to make a stronger story at the cost of less returning characters? And then be able to play as the omitted characters for dlc. I think it's the best of both worlds.

Boon is probably trolling again. Since MKX was announced, the roster was most likely finalized. He just doesn't want to say anything straight up and make us think that certain characters aren't returning.
We'll find out in reveals or when the game is in our hands. He also had mention in an interview or tweet that not all characters will get a reveal.

Right!
I'm not saying that it's the same fucking button input, or the same animation, or the same combo attacks. I'm saying that visually, the formula is identical.
Unfortunately I can't play the game right now, but I think it's 2,1,2 Enhanced Bomb, 2,1,2 Enhanced Bomb for Cyrax [MK9]
Combo x Bomb x Combo x Bomb. Right?
Then watch what Kano does in his video.
Combo x Bomb x (Anti Air) Combo x Bomb.
Like, in what way am I wrong?
Hell, I believe that the anti-air punch ain't needed and you can still pull it off.
And funny enough, even Kano in the video does an enhanced version of his grenade move which popped D'Vorah in the air.
I wonder what the normal one does?

While I 100% agree with you on that, including all the MK1 roster in MK10 isn't exactly moving the story forward imho.

Except his response to the Shao Kahn Mileena picture wasn't confirming anything, or nearly a hint to confirming anything. All he said was "Yes they do!!".

Cyrax had moves where he held a bomb in his hand and hit the opponent with it.
Kano has moves where he holds a grenade in his hand and hits the opponent with it.
They are not completely the same, but they are similar. Too similar, in my opinion.
Holding an explosive device and hitting someone with it while STILL IN HIS HAND is just too specific a move. I don't think it is the same as saying two people have a fireball move, because shooting a fireball is VERY common in fighting games.
And Mojo, while you mention Liu Kang and Cage's fireballs, they are quite different in execution. The "hold a bomb/grenade and hitting with it" moves that Cyrax and Kano have are alot more similar.
It's not a generalization.
