I think maybe we'll get something in mid-February, at the earliest. I can wait, though, considering I've got Guitar Hero II(don't have III yet), playing the GTA Double Pack in anticipation for GTA IV coming in a couple of months, Madden 08 and Halo 3. Plus I plan on getting Virtua Fighter 5 for 360 later on. But once MK8 news, previews, media, etc. starts coming out, I'll be alllll over it.

i hope they take more time on this game since they released a new MK game every year and from what we've seen a whole year isn't enough to give the game its full potential.
i think they should work on it as long as they can to make it totally new like smash bros. brawl because everyones gonna want that game nintendo can extend the release date cause they know people will buy it.
and MK is a well known game i think they should take as much time as they need.
but ya even though it was stated in 2006 still imagine what we al wanted a new engine better graphics more story plot and im sure IF they are adding animated endings or cut scenes and adventure mode and all that. animated vids for endings and cut scenes takes a long while to do so i can see that would be the only reason why its taking a long while to show us any screen shots or pictures.
i hope they take all the time they need cause rushing for a deadline is not good from what we've seen.
and i seriously hope for animated endings this is new gen after all.

Personally i would even wait for mortal kombat 8 to be released in 2009 i don ́t need another armageddon.

Dont get me wrong i like armageddon but i ended up playing more with my KAF then any of the actual regular caracters.

The minigame sucked. i was hoping for a Mario kart MK-style but ended up with an incomplete minigame.

What i hope for the most part is that midway make the game ajustable to the current trend which is DL(K) (DownLoadable (K)ontent).

We may not get the fighters we want to return when the game is released but a future download could make them avalible to us again.

Take your time midway and dont let those who cant wait make you rush it out the door.

I have no problem at all waiting until 2009 for this game to come out, but the fact of the matter is they have a signed contract stating that they need to release an MK game every year. So the chances of them delaying it until 2009 are very slim.

Anyway, they seem to like to release their first information on games in February. They did it with Deception and Armageddon. Plus I can't imagine the game will be out before October so they will want to have a few months to hype the game. And now especially since E3 isn't until July, they won't wait until then to release info.

My guess is February; if not then, then definitely March.

The only thing I will say about this is what I agreed with Chrome earlier on this thread. That we're probably going to hear something about this game before the summer, or in my opinion the very beginning of summer. And the only thing that will be shown to us will probably be just the Dragon logo with a new look or something.

I will say that I'm betting my ass that this will be the first thing that will be shown as a pic.

Not to mention that I'm pretty sure that February is still too early. I'm just saying that, if anything should come in February, is Ed Boon saying that he's still going on with the game. Or... maybe at least a hint of what we're going to be expecting in the game instead of the "Secret" that he cannot reveal to anyone.

if they don't add conquest and mini game ballshits they can release it in 2008.
They can release tha basic game and they can add any shit they want as an add on through internet. like they did with mk4.

This game will most likely come out this year. I'm pretty sure Boone said an MK game every year. For 07 it was only MKA for Wii but still follows. Plus he said news on it would surface in 08 so I take it that the game's release will be in........08.

Also don't forget UMK3 DS was released in November, 07 with MKD puzzle and is selling bigtime also hehe..wifi is freaking awesome!

So for the dude that said MK is decaying, that's utter BS because the games are still being made and there's still TONS of deticated MK fans that will always love the series. If you hate MK, then don't follow it...

MK8 is going to be something mindblowing I foresee, a lot different then MKA and I'm sure Sub and Scorp will at least come back.

Anyway, I'm guessing March we'll hear something small and summer we'll hear even more. Can't wait for a vid, teaser or something.

they say the big game informer unveil for february will be Resistance fall of man 2 for the ps3. i guess it's still possible to have mk 8 be a big story in the magazine, but i would think with the whole "new everything" approach that midway would want the cover.

i read up on sf4 at work the other day (the new egm) it's lookin pretty sweet. it's supposed to hark back to SF 2 days which won't be all bad.

anyway, i am kinda dissapointed. just one more reason that when mk 8 finally does appear, it better leave me sexually satisfied or i will be infuriated....

Since MK8 is going to have a whole different fighting engine, I'm guessing it's going to take longer to make than MKD and MKA.

For MKD and MKA, all Ed Boon had to do was update the fighting engine he had been using for MKDA. This time, mk8 is going to be a whole"different' game. Also, considering that Ed hasnt worked with the unreal engine before, I won't be suprised if we don't get news anytime soon.

I'm, kinda worried you know. There's gonna be lots of competition for MK8 this year, and then seeing how far advanced some of these games are... It makes me think we're gonna have another half assed game and to me, that could prove to be the definite end of MK. A shame really, I think it's still the most enjoyable fighting series there is.

^^trust me when i tell you, mortal kombat will sell a million copies on it's name alone(which is why i'm happy to see boon and co. not resting on the name and starting fresh). Tekken sales will be hendered once again due to exclusivity. Soul Caliber has never done spectacular numbers(but with the addition of Darth Vader on the ps3 and Yoda on the 360, they'll probubly pull in some star wars money). Street fighter IV may do well, but as of the time the EGM article was written, the game was 1 or 2% done(the lead directors own words), so i hardly expect it for 2008, but stranger things have happened. and i think i heard something about a new dead or alive, but honestly i've never cared for it due to the horrible balancing issues, so i don't care one way or the other.

Hmmm..looks like we don't have to wait for long if this game follows the trend.

IGN has named MK8 one of it's most anticiapted fighting game releases of '08 for the 360 and ps3. but once again, they mention nothing outside of what we already know. They even go as far as to say that they're not even sure if it'll be out this year(because no solid release date has been given).

the suspence continues to build.....

You know, now I almost want them to announce that they are delaying it. Just to satisfy "needing to confirm" that they are making the game to the best of their time and resources.

If that were the news, I'd be blissful without anything else until release.
