my money says the february game informer is the best bet. or maybe they'll try to blow everyone away the e3 this year.....if that's the case...man the summer is a ways away.

I don't think they need to rush it. There is so much competition this year from Namco, that they don't need it overlooked by Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur 4.

They'll probably unleash a Deadly Alliance-Scorpion style trailer and a press statement in Feb and then an avalanche of information at E3.

January is usually a quiet month depending on the industry you work for and wouldn't January editions of a mag be out already? I know they usally come out the month before here in the UK. News could appear at anytime, however. I'd probably espect something from February onwards (or in magazine terms that'd be the february issue in January). They don't need to rush it though and I'm not particularly bothered about when any news does arrive. They can take as long as they need to. They'll reveal things when they're far enough into production and ready to do so.

To be quite honest, i'm not that worried about how long will MK8 take to show off its shiny little tail.
Of course i'm interested in how the series will continue, but it's not the same as in the past. Comparing to the last 10 years (when i was a hardcore fan), i'm not sheding a fucking drop of sweat of worrying about new MK games. The rotting decadency that the series fell into, made me just want to move over it.

Right now, the series i'm fallowing is Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter, and sometimes Tekken.

If MK8 is destined to never see the light of day, well fuck it, i'm not here to grieve it.

January is never a quiet month, In january of 2004 thats when we first got big news on Deception, on January 13th 2006, thats when we got big news on Armageddon. So I say this month, MK8 will be revealed in GI.

I'm quite positive that they're gonna reveal lots of info at that event, but I'm hoping we'll at least get something sooner.

I find it unlikely that we get something solid and visual before summer. And even then, it will probably be a logo or something.

Agreed, I have a funny feeling they will release info in a Feb. Game Informer which usually releases the cover story on their website around the 15th of every month. So that being said, look forward to Jan. 15, but don't get your hopes up too high folks.

Yea, cause MK8 is diffrent than MKD and MKA, MK8 has a diffrent engine and ect ect so we might not get info, but i personally think we will.

I wouldn't mind one or two teaser pics. Just to give us an idea of what Midway's actually cooking in their 'oven'.

As much as I want them to take all the time in the world to polish it up, make it a truly top-tier game, one that revitalizes the series and becomes one of the best fighting games ever made..... I would like maybe ONE teaser, screenshot, concept art... something.

By comparison, Street Fighter IV was announced almost two years after MK8 and we've already got screens, confirmed characters, and actual gameplay. Soul Calibur IV has tons of trailers, gameplay, storyline, and characters revealed. Even Tekken 6 has had new characters, gameplay, and teasers sent our way. But everything on the MK front has been dead silent. That either means they have something really good... or nothing really good yet.

Assuming Midway is still aiming for a November 2008 release, Id say the latest we'd get new info is March. I think the earliest we'll get info is around the middle of this month, and the likely time frame being somewhere in February.

If the game will have a better engine than Virtua Fighter and Tekken, I think the wait etc would be worth it. Personally, I can wait longer, there are many games coming out this year that are simply amazing, and I would have a huge dilemma about which game should I play first....
