25th spot will be the only spot added most likely and that's for the guest. Why keep the exact numbers of fighters a secret this late in the game? They don't have to reveal them all if they don't want too but what's wrong with giving a number of fighters? This is why I'm thinking what we see is what we're getting. Hoping for more than 24(not counting the guest) is silly and setting yourself up for disappointment.

24 is extremely disappointing unless that extra slot now is for unlockables n dlc. If a kharacter is in the story then they should be playable. Im all for taking the extra time to make the best game possible. I'd rather they delay the game a few months to add kharacters instead of making them all DLC. Ppl these days just dont have enough patience. If 24 is on the select screen then 4-6 extra should be unlockable n then another 6-8 for dlc,especially since mk9's dlc sold very well n this game being on 5 systems now n is now the #3 most anticipated game of 2015 on gamespot. This game looks great n ppl recognize that n will support it.

Again, you're forgetting Goro and the 4-6 extra characters on top of that for DLC. Mark my words, I bet that's how that spot will work.

Yeah I gotta agree. MK9's only had slight changes from E3 reveal to launch. The number of roster spots didn't change. And I don't believe Injustice's roster size did either.

There will be more than 26 characters. I dont really care for there to be more, but there will be. No question.

There is a strong chance this could be true!

I tried to do the math in a different thread and there is literally no way we're getting 24 characters:

- For the first arc of the game, netherealm invasion, you need playable characters to control (which means characters that aren't revenants at this time, that aren't next gen because they would be either too young or not born yet and that are from earthrealm) to fight those chapters, which means that in adition to Raiden you're probably getting Johnny, Sonya, Kenshi and maybe even someone else.

- For that same arc, you need opponents. Right now we have Quan Chi, 3 of his revenants and Scorpion (controlled by Quan Chi too until Kenshi helps him to control his rage), but that's far from enough. You have to add Shinnokh too and then either add some more revenants and/or someone that isn't under Quan Chi's control here because this is supposed to be Shinnokh's invasion, not Quan Chi's, even if the bald mean guy is scheming in the background.

- There is another arc featuring Kotal Kahn's squadron of miscasts (Reptile, D'Vorah, Ferra&Torr and probably Erron Black) fighting Mileena's forces. This means that you need a playable Meleena plus allies to be the antagonists of Kotal's squadron in this war or them being playable against Kotal forces, depending how the story develops. In any case there are multiple characters needed here to tell a story through fights.

- Then you have the new generation of characters like Takeda and probably Kung Jin and who knows how many more.

- Some side stories could be covered here, we have almost confirmation of cyborgs being in the game and if Sub-Zero is going to become grandmaster here rather than only in the comics, then you need at least Cyrax and Sektor to fight him or he will just storm the Lin Kuei during a cutscene and that's it.

- The Red Dragon is featured A LOT in the comics. We know they have ties with Shinnokh AND that they're aiding Mileena's forces too. Maybe in both cases you would need less netherealm and outworld based characters if Red Dragon guys can help both forces on different arcs (but you would still need some guys from each realm IMO).

- Some characters like Reiko and Fujin are already in possitions that make them clear candidates to be playable characters (as apparent advisors to Mileena and Raiden on each case).


There is absolutely no way you tell this story in a game mode that involves chapters of characters fighting a series of opponents with just 24 playable characters. No freaking way. I'd say around 30 plus DLC is the number here.

They have said everything we've seen isn't the final product so hold your horses.

Console-exclusive guests were ruled out for the game's launch.

When making a list, why do people always put Scorpion on top of the list, huh? Sub-Zero is as equally the poster boy as Scorpion is or Sub is the poster boy overall because he was in the initial MK3 game and Scorpy came in the remake (UMK3).

Oh and not to forget, it's spelled "Havik" and not Havok Also, I don't think Baraka will make it this in time, unless he will make DLC. Sektor? I don't think him or Cyrax will make it, but a new cyborg will be included.

I do it because when I type it I always hear Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa in my head saying "Scorpion and Sub-Zero... deadliest of enemies..." yadda yadda yadda. lol

MK9 had 27 playable 28 on PSN with Kratos. Not counting DLC. The select screen showed had 25 slots so about the same. We have 13Total 4 new so far. I see at least 3 more new hopefully more. Jacqui, erron black, takeda. I see maybe Bo rai cho, fujin, reiko mileena, maybe liu kang sareena. Not sure who else
