Most of all I want better fighting. Tekken, Soul Caliber, Street Fighter, all those games have smooth animations, unique fighting styles and controls that are responsive. Mortal kombat is stiff. Hell, sometimes It feels like my character is trying to move underwater.
I don't care about the fatalities. Don't get me wrong, they can be fun. But a good fighting game should be mostly about good fighting, not just gore.
Now, the characters. Characters should feel unique. Unique fighting styles, unique looks and motivations. Ever since MK4 there have been many boring, bland characters that don't bring nothing to the game. Mavado, Kobra, Darrius, Sareena, LeMai, Kira, Jarek... even Jade, Tanya and Noob Saibot. Well, you know who I'm talking about. Do we really need both Sector and Cyrax? One robot is enough, really.
The characters in the next game? This image says pretty much everything and everyone that should be in the next game:

They got the formula right when they went 3-d.Deadly alliance was a ground Breaking title that was poorly recieved. 2 martial arts styles with a weapons style. You made the moves so that you had to practice with characters which is the best way. Fatalites are cool, but please go back to the deadly alliance formula. This was unique, maybe limit the styles to two per character so you can have more characters. Deadly alliance is the greatest MK of all time in my opinion. Bring back the grave yard to unlocking stages and characters. Have a personalized stage for each character, with stage fatalites included, Online ranking system, Also include an RPG Mode, or remake shoalin Monks for the new age systems.

I wouldn't mind having Konquest mode and the Krypt back, BUT I would only want it back if you can earn items that are actually worthwhile. Maybe customizable gear for all the characters, icons, backgrounds, stages, characters, or maybe even winning poses, taunts, etc.
Please, please, please, better, more fluid animation.
Get rid of the breakers, and add counter moves. Or maybe even give characters there own distinctive counter attacks and/or reversals.
Wouldn't mind Endurance mode returning.

I ask myself why nobody here has the idea that during the fatality's some snapshots and zooming or something else you've got to have the possibility to interact during a Fatality or to save the fight like uncharted 2
what do you mean?
excuse me for my bad english

i had an idea a long time ago (which wasn't very well received, but just give it some thought) about a whole new style of mk. make a mortal kombat war game. take star wars battlefront 2. now imagine a fight on geonosis, but instead of clones and droids, you have lin kuei and shirai ryu. or edenians and tarkatans, or special forces and tekunin, shokan and centaurs. i know it sounds weird, but i think it would be really cool if made right. unlockable heros, special moves according to what race or clan you are playing as, etc. it is basically the result of a drunken shaolin monks/battlefront 2 fuckfest in cancun.
i think they should quit trying to expand the stories of individual characters and start expanding the stories of races, clans, and realms. the thought of going around as zaterran (or saurian, whatever the reptile ppl lol) w/ a team of fellow zaterrans into a dark building complex knowing that you and your entire team are in for a big battle against the brotherhood of shadow.
imagine, instead of being shang tsung or baraka or even shao kahn, being a foot soldier in shao kahns army, and if you do well enough in the fight against the shaolin monks in the wasteland of earthrealm, you can unlock the ability to play as an outworld hero, such as shang or reiko. imagine being able to unlock the ability to play as a centaurian during the fight. but only like 5 would be allowed on the battlefield at a given time.
they could make a versus mode in the same style as shaolin monks and a classic mk minigame, preferably the n64 version of trilogy
i know, this is basically battlefront 2 w/ mk characters, but it can be so much more than that. i just think that the swbf2 formula is really good and could translate over to mk.
i have a whole list of specific abilities, tools, weapons, and heros that each race or clan could have. if anyone wants to know, just let me know and let me know what you think of my idea and if you have anything to add.
thanks!

Let the characters have there individiality back. Like In MK1, Raiden was a God, Sonya was a SFA, Kano was a Black Dragon Thug, Johnny was an actor, Liu kang broke off from those and was set to stardom with defeating Shang tsung. You can't tell me you guys didn't want that back.

i like the whole star wars battlefront 2 is a great idea but the close ranged fighting and people with guns wont work out but i think most fighters should have indviduality i also think scorpion should be more addressed cuz well hes awesome and we dont no much about him i also think if you could fight a whole bunch of ppl in one place and since your like superpowered u can own the dudes ur fighting with a punch and send them flying into other guys like on mortal kombat deception the stones dude say your raiden u survived but the stone warriors did too and raiden fights them all off and finnaly after he fights them all off shang tsung rises and since raiden is evil he and him fight in the traditional mortal kombat games. also if they had mini games of the endings like when sub zero fights off the tarkatans you can be him and do all that stuff.also bring back create a kharcter

make it 2.5d with no side step. bring back the fast paced combo bloody mortal kombat MAN!! i am tired of the slow 3d games. but the mk team is wrong because they are selling out to get little kids to buy their games and forgeting the old people who made mk what it was. mk got popular when it was 2d. so keep it that way. stop changing stuff, unless it's really innovative and cool like SKATE. dont fix what aint broken. street fighter went 2.5d and the new sonic 4 is going to be 2.5d. thats the best way for 2d games to crossover into next gen gaming. espcially 2d fighting games. you dont see tekken, soul calibur, virtua fighter going 2d do you. it wouldnt feel right. mk needs to get back to the original concept, and that a 2d bloody dark humor fighting game, with a solid story.

Hell yah. Thats what I'm talking about.
I think fatalities should be like super combos in street fighter. You build up a fatality bar, and then you can unleash it in the match. I do realize this could be challenging but it would deffinitley be cool if balanced, and well thought out.

yeah i wrote an idea like that about a year ago. i called it in game finshers. where you could instantly kill the opponent during battle. but they could have somway you can dodge it idk!!! but its good to see someone on this site other than me knows that mk should be 2d with a solid fighting system and story. lol
the concept is so easy to understand!!!! and look at all the 2d fighting games that went 3d that had better mechanics than mk. street fighter=failed, kof=failed, guilty gear=failed. ONCE YOU GO 2d there is no going BACK!!!!!!

yeah man.i dont think ed boon is never going back to 2d. he should at least try 2.5 d. i miss the fast gamplay and combos. and mk never was a deep technical fighter, but it was fast and 2d. now you go 3d and its slowww and you dont have a deep fighting systems. thats a bad combination. you cant make a gimmicky 3d fighting game, because 3d fighters are supposed to be more realistic and deep. a mk styled game strength is in 2d, not 3d.
mk tried to EVOVLE with 3D movement, but still has SIMPLISTIC GAMEPLAY. thats THE PROBLEM. i felt that 3d mk's should have been similar to doa4 with blood and fatalities. it has a certain balance of style and substance......

A Jax fatality idea
Jax throws a left cross punch to the opponent with his metal arm and destroys his jaws, jaws pieces floating in the air, then delivers a right cross punch destroys half the skull of the head and finally gives an uppercut and crushes the remaining head to pieces. Thoughts?

I had an idea about adding 2 new move types...a desperation attack and a special move for the aggressor when the opponent is in danger of losing a fight right before its time for the fatality.
For example:
To do a desperation attack you would have to be close to death on your life bar obviously and for the aggressor special move the opponent would have to be in the life bar area of desperation (about half a bar) or maybe allow the aggressor to use automatic dialed in pro moves in combos (similar to Ultra Combos in Killer Instinct but with a Pro move ender).
I think it would be cool because that would make the fight interesting and it would add a different element. The goal is to make the players fight for who is going to get the final blow for the chance to perform their fatality. The desperation attack or aggressor attacks should take away a good portion of life. I am thinking at least a quarter to half of the life bar...and that means that when a player reaches a quarter of life left before the other person...the other person has to be ready to either block, counter or dodge a desperation attack by using the aggressor system if they have reached the life bar trigger.
Some might think to want to add a meter for moves like this which would be a good idea because this meter would work for desperation as well as aggressor but the meter would have to be a fair size.
Also,I was leaning towards making moves like this to only work in the last round of the match. So that means the first 1 or 2 rounds will be the rounds you use to build up your meter. Its a bit similar to Dragonball Z games but much more limited because you can only do these moves at the last round and after such a move you get to perform a fatality if you can or so desire. The desperation or aggressor moves would be like sub finishers moves basically. Unless the move is designed for a stage fatality or something...kinda like how Killer Instinct did out of ring Ultra combo finishers but I would rather be able to do a fatality of my choice after such desperation/aggression to win the fight.
Anyways...that is my idea. It was actually going to be implicated into my own game but to those that follow my posts...they know my opportunity went out the window. So I am basically giving up ideas I was going to use to the forums here on MKO and to anyone that makes independant games or non-profit games you have my typed word that I give all rights to my ideas. Also if anyone does use these ideas please fill me in so I can play it when its done. That would be amazing. EDIT: as of now there may be a small light of hope for this and a few of my ideas to actually become an element in a fighter. only time will tell but i still give permission for the use of any of my stuff posted.
Enjoy and respond by PM if ya want.

Well, one thing that has been bouncing around in my mind is the whole slogans that have come with fighting games lately:
Soul Calibur: What's within your Soul?
Tekken: What do you fight for?
Hell even Street Fighter has that whole I'm Blanka, who are you thing.
So what can MK do: What's Your Destiny?
Rip off a trailer for Soul Calibur IV and then you would have for example:
Shao Kahn - Domination
Shang Tsung - Immortality
Quan Chi - Power
Scorpion - Revenge
Sub Zero - Redemption
Kitana - Peace
Plus drop Arcade Mode and include a Destiny Mode complete with ladders. You'd have:
Achievement Whore (Destined Battle, Sub Boss, Boss)
Easy (3 Fights, as above)
Normal (5 fights, as above)
Hard (7 fights, as above)
Master (9 fights, as above)
Master II (11 fights, as above)
Hardkore (13 fights, as above)
Or something. I dont know.

I dont know if this has been mentioned before but i had an idea.
Maybe something like two person finishers?
Sub Zero breathes an ice mist to freeze the opponent then Scorpian jumps down, throws spear, pulls the opponent over his head into a wall of spikes.
Fujin creates a whirlwind and the opponent starts spinning. Baraka jumps in and uses his blades to carve the opponent.
Scorpian throws spear, pulls opponent over his head, Kitana jumps in, throws her fans inthe the opponents shoulders, opponent flies back into a deadly wall.
Just some ideas. What you think?

a new fatality: the player rips the opponents arms off, shove them through their shoulders pull them up ripping their head off then the player throws their legs in the air and continously kicks the head up and down, then the player grabs the legs by the knees when they come back down, balances the head on the players foot then hits the head with the legs in both hands like a golf club and the head quickly smashes into the camera and then finally the player puts his foot into the head while its still on the camera with a powerful kick, crushing it the blood coloured camera then zooms in on the player while doing their victory pose.
Do you mean: Remaking Mortal Kombat Trilogy with the graphics from the new Mortal Kombat? But only with fatalities. None of the friendships etc... That game had over 30 characters. OR release every single character they ever had into one game 2 fatalities each. No characters need to be unlocked, No story mode no mini games. Just BAM! over 70 characters 2 fatalities over 2 dozen levels, pop it in and play. (Probably over 70 characters) WHO'S WITH ME !?!

About Me
0
Hehe I'm back posting again so I'm a little rusty at the moment.
Anyway I have and idea that I don't think has been touched upon as of yet. Well I have two ideas.
The first being character attributes, now I can touch upon this in two ways. The first being strength, speed stats ETC.
No for me these would truly give the characters in the mortal kombat world a truly unique feel and maybe even make it more fun and rewaring to master certain characters.
Strength-Now I think this would be a no-brainer and it would boost the amount of damage done by a little, not too much though otherwise it would be easier to pick the strongest characters every time. But I also think if a strength attribute was put in, characters with higher strength would be able to perform certain moves that involve lifting and throwing, and just generally man-handling the opponents.
Speed- This is another obvious one too utilize, obviously making character reactions and movements quicker whilst in Kombat. and maybe the characters with teleportation moves could do them at a much more quick and efficient pace.
Technique- Well I think this could be a good feature as to where a higher technique would provide easier counters and parry's (If you want to bring them back) and also making certain moves like leg sweeps and things like that deal more damage as they are based on technique a lot of the time. For example Sonya Blade and Liu Kang would be prime candidates to have the higher techniques, whilst the likes of Shao Kahn and Goro would have absolutely poor technique,
As for the second part of this idea, for the attributes, it might be fitting for some certain characters to have traits. Allow me to explain---
Like maybe Liu Kang could have a resiliancy attribute, so say he was on low health his durability would go up and his strength would go up. and maybe something like his special moves would become one-button moves. I don't know something like that would be nice. And maybe a bad example but the cockier character like Shao Kahn and Johnny Cage maybe should taunt the opponents. Not makoing them stronger but making the opponents weaker and demoralising them. And to stop these traits from being over-used they should have a twenty second limit and a strict two-time use.
As for my proper second idea I would like to take a leaf out of Fallout 3's book. Now you might all look at me and think I'm crazy but, I would like to see something similar to the VAT system. In which you can target a specific body part of an opponent and either make your damage dealing more efficient or their use of that body part more limite.
Now obviously I wouldn't want it to be cinamatic and for it to pause the game or something but something simple like pressing up+right on the D-pad would focus on the opponents right arm. Or just simply pressing up would aim for the opponents head. And obviously targeting the head would be harder to hit tan say the opponents leg or arm.
That's it for now if anyone wants to expand on these idea your free to do so.
