@Jaded His gameplay trailer would've shown at least some use of the weapon, but it didn't, so.. I am disappoint.

But this stuff we've seen was slightly more than what I expected.

A boy can dream. ^^
And if he doesn't, I will make sure he makes use of it in my fanfiction, because it's a very cool addition to his powers.

Hang on just a second... How does Rain posses a watery sword? I see nothing that resembles a sword if you are talking about what comes out of his hand during the second fatality preview.

Exactly, it doesn't look like a sword. Rather a blade, like Psylocke's psi-blades from X-Men, but made of water instead - hence Hydro Blade. ^^

I hate the pose of that Water Orb, though. It's too stiff and awkward looking.

True, it looks like an extreme version of the Hadouken pose.

So, what will he use as his Tag Assist?

I want to believe it's the Roundhouse,
but I'm betting more on the Lightning, or even the Water Jet.

That won't work unless it places them in a preset spot-
it would feel weird not being able to move during an assist,
and it would limit your actions compared to most assists. sad
It could work if it floated them just right, though, without the need for an input.

His Tag Assist might be his Lightning Strike or Super Roundhouse Kick, and his Tag Combo should definately be his new Windy Feet move (the teleport kick move), in my opinion.

It's cool- I myself made the mistake of thinking "Tag Attack" and "Tag Assist" were the same.
I forgot they're different in this game-
the "Tag Attack" actually changes the active partner (usually with a moving Special like Raiden's Torpedo),
while "Tag Assist" just summons the assist character to perform one of their attacks (usually an EX projectile).
It's the latter one I had in mind when I posed the question,
but now I'm really curious as to what his "Tag Attack" will be-
he doesn't have any moves which propel him horizontally.
Maybe that Teleport Kick will be it?

PS- Skarlet's Tag Assist is a "free" Blood Ball! I wish she had that as an EX move! tongue Team Skarlet Rain is now a very real possibility for me...

1st: I 1000% agree! Saints Row is fucking BO$$! Playing it right nowglasses

2nd: Yes that's Bezo(Bezou). We don't know whyconfused

3rd: Rain looks OP like MKT but that doesn't make him bad. He kinda does look tricky. And I agree he looks amazinggrin

Yes, this... more or less!
The more I think about it, the more I want it to be the Lightning-
it always does the EX, and the super armor on Rain's EX Roundhouse would serve no purpose.
Better to get the extra two hits from the Lightning, IMO.

I also find it cool we both see his new Teleport as a play on his "Windy Feet" move... and I agree with your earlier comment that it's even faster than Sektor's Telepunch. So much so I didn't even see the teleport part of it the first time I watched the video- I just thought he was launching straight up.

I can't imagine Sektor fans will like that. Maybe he's easier to punish when blocked to counterbalance it?
EDIT: The more I think about it, the more I think Sektor may become obsoleted by Rain much like Mileena was by Skarlet.

Sektor is a slow and powerful character in this game, and I prefer the faster characters, so to me Rain would indeed be favoured over Sektor. I also favour Skarlet over Mileena, because I find Mileena rather lacking in the gameplay department... which is rather a shame.

Anyways, as you said, it will probably be the Enhanced Lightning Strike that will be the Tag Assist move.

This. It should be his Lightning move instead of the Roundhouse Kick

Sektor is obselete by Rain because he's faster, same as Skarlet

I wouldn't say they are obsolete, just because there are characters with some faster special moves. Some people prefer to play Sektor and Mileena. Personally though, I prefer the faster characters, and Rain definately looks like he's going to be quick.

I quite like his tricky gameplay - a reason I like to play as Smoke as well. He sure looks like he's going to be able to set up some cool combos with those special moves he has. ^^

Having watched both the vignette and the reveal trailer many times now,
I'm doubting more and more that the "Windy Feet" move teleports unless you do the EX version. The non-EX version seems to execute faster, without the sweeping arm gesture he uses in his teleport. It might just be an anti-air move in its normal form- it's really hard to tell from these two videos.

Seeing that straight-up teleport in the vignette definitely threw me for a loop-
that move could possibly cancel into the vertical kick, as one of the other posters suggested, but he does seem capable of doing the kick without a teleport at the beginning.

I'm also not entirely convinced the Water Jet isn't just a watery analogue of Sektor's Flamethrower. From the vignette video, it doesn't look like Rain has time to react to combo out of it (and that was the EX version, to boot!)
I know it doesn't make sense that water would hurt them,
but I'm at a loss to find another clue as to this move's purpose. confused

All in all, I have MANY questions about how Rain's moves will actually work in gameplay. I'm glad there isn't too much time left to ponder these things!

Tag Assist is probably the Lightning Bolt because it's faster and has longer range, but that's my guess

@drpvfx, I'm sure the splash kick and the teleport are just like Ermac's teleport / fireball in that they pretty much look the same. From all appearances the ex splash kick always pops up behind and the normal is always stationary, but if thats the case mid-air normal splash kick is pointless.

tag assist is definately lighting, and tag entrance is definately splash kick kiddies. The roundhouse would be pointless.

Awesome thread, Jaded!

I'll admit that I'm actually a bit disappointed that most of his "new" moves are recycled animations. I know that he had certain moves first, but, its not an excuse for them to look almost "the same" as the current 2010 ones that were designed before him.

The most obvious ones being his "water stream" which looks exactly like Reptile's (amazing) enhanced acid spit, and the "thunder bolt" which looks identical to Nightwolf's..

He is sporting attacks that immediately made me think of Reptile, Noob Saibot, Nightwolf, and Sektor.

However, I am ready to forgive this because they made his main moves original enough for me not to care that much.

His water bubble attacks are amazing. That drowning bubble Fatality is among my top favorites ever (and I haven't even seen it full!). Apparently his teleport is actually a kick and not a punch (it goes by waaay too fast for me to see that though).

I'm liking Rain a lot and his bubble Fatality alone has made me want to buy him. Hopefully his gameplay will feel original and not recycled.
