Silly? Shit? Racist much? They're called bindis. And I did them because there's absolutely no denying the Arabic influences in Mileena's Deception costume, and even in some of the concept art of Kitana in Deadly Alliance, you can see some South Asian facial features. I felt like giving them a clear, Arabic/Indian stylistic influence. Also, look closely at Sindel from Deception: she has two dots on her forehead. Sorry if you disagree.

I'm sorry you disagree with how I made the characters look. I was going for a more realistic approach. As you can see from reading some of the previous posts in this thread, you're not the only person to dislike what I've done. However, I must insist that you're cultural sensitive – because I don't tolerate ignorance.

This is an interesting approach. I think the Sub-Zero is the best, cool design.

I have respect for people who dislike my work. I don't have respect for people who refer to the customs of other cultures as "silly" and "shit." And who think that all non-Western cultures can be lumped together (as you implied with your joining of Egyptian and Indian into one theme).

Now, if you wish to criticize my work, as others have done in the past, and whom I have respected the opinions of, please refrain from insulting the cultures of others in the process.

And, I'm ending this discussion now, because I don't want to start a flame war.

I just want to start by saying, your work is amazing. I love nearly every costume and inspiration you took from diverse cultures for your characters.

Kitana, Sheeva, Mileena, Jade, and Sonya are the best they've every looked imo and I love Indian culture and those inspired themes.

The ninjas are simply and it looks perfect on them.


I'm a huge fan of Johnny Cage getting a shirt, he looks so much better.


Ashrah, Reiko, Rain are boss, enough said.


Really inspiring work, I need to start drawing, your designs are fresh, unique and superbly done.


I honestly love all of them, some more than others, but they're all delighful and I need to read up on your fan fic story, with such superb art, I'm very intrigued.

In regards to the different cultures, I feel like Outworld needs to have its own set of cultures; so I tried to take inspiration from a great variety of the cultures from Earth. I didn't want to make them all look faux-medieval/fantasy. Plus, I couldn't help but see some Arabic influences in the designs of Mileena (circa MK:D) and in the concept drawings of Kitana's face (circe MK:DA); so I felt like, at the very least, they needed to have a little bit of Indian influence.

I can't wait to hear what you think about the story!

quan chi and shinnok look fucking awesome.

you have COMPLETELY turned this series around, in my opinion, after some fairly bland early designs (see my comments on page 1) to the terrific, unique characters you've been submitting of late. shinnok, in particular, looks superb. your grasp of human anatomy is sublime and use of posing is extremely effective (particularly highlighted with your reptile).
to summarize: i used to hate the style, i now love it. keep it up, i wanna see the whole cast

Wow. All your work is amazing. I really could see some of this being used for the game, because they are great. I think my favourites are Sindel and Shinnok. But the others are amazing too. Keep making them! :D

Really? Sindel was my least favorite. But Shinnok is one of my favorites by far! Thank you so much! I wish they would use my designs in the game too (I'd let them if they asked).

I once tried to write an MK novel. It was to cover the entire history of Mortal Kombat, all the way up to Armageddon. It was to focus on all the secondary characters from the games, comics, shows, movies -- everything. And I actually got really damn far with it. Had about 20 pages on the computer and 30 pages hand-written. Then my computer crashed and I lost that 20 page chunk and I just gave up.
