I was waiting all night yesterday...decided to go to sleep, woke up early...tuned in on mk5.org..and saw the render. First things that went into my mind;

Dissapointment:
Not dissapointed that the next game is a MK vs. DC game, I can live with that. But exept some (strong) rumors, it wasn't what I expected. The facts..the things Boon said...it was more like that we could expect a MK revival. And after the sad MK years we had...it was surely not strange to expect this.

Then again, I'm waiting for a explanation of Boon why they decided to go this route. Maybe it is a plan to get MK back. But with the experience I've got with Midway...Im really pessimistic. And to be honest, even tough I come here and chat...check out MK news. MK or shoud I say Midway and Boon lost me a long time ago.

Still, that doens't change the fact that this CAN be nice game..so I'm just going to wait and see what comes next.

Maybe enough negative feedback will help prevent the game from turning out into a vs DC game? is there something we can do about this? I love Batman but this is fucking rediculous. I don't know what to say, I expected more from Midway.

Sadly, there's been nothing in the last 13 years to make me expect more from Midway. I've been expecting less every time and they've yet to disappoint me.

Its deffinitely not what I was expecting. Maybe we'll get a next gen version of MK Armageddon + DC characters. There will be 100+ characters no doubt.

Somebody way the hell upthread said that this is the first time the MK Universe has jumped the shark. Can anybody say "Special Forces"?

To me, Mortal Kombat has grown since its earliest beginnings to where they've been able to fuck up the series, from a storyline-wise level beginning with Mythologies: Sub-Zero, and still been mostly able to recover in the long run.

Given the level of vitriol from this message board alone aimed at this brainfart of a game idea (which I wholeheartedly share), I don't see MK recovering from this. This is Boon & Co.'s idea of reviving the series? They get me and a lot of other fans excited about the possibilities of putting the bloodiest fighter ever on the Unreal 3 engine used by Gears of War, and THIS. THIS is the best they could come up with? Seriously, guys?

In my comic book collecting experience, I have bought more DC than Marvel, I'll admit. I'm as excited about the revival of the Batman movie franchise that began in '05 as the next person, meaning I can't freaking wait for the Dark Knight movie. This DOES NOT MESH. These are two great things that do not go together.

Even if this game isn't canon, I sure as fuck won't be wasting my money on this bullshit. On the upside, I can continue to work on my version of a storyline continuation of Mortal Kombat. It's fun to dream. To those assholes in Chicago: You'll have to dream of getting my money, cause it's not happening in real life. Next time around, try getting my attention with an ACTUAL MK game, because that's what brought you AND me to this dance. Otherwise just don't bother.

I really need to see more before I make any judgement (just like everyone else). The name of the game should have been though Midway vs the Dc Universe, not a sole franchse.

Looks interesting no doubt, reminds me of Tekken Tag Tournament. MK8 will still turn up somewhere down the road.

you know what people...if this was a MK vs SF game you would all be like 'fucken unreal!!!', but the fact that it's a comic Xover is making you all have an attitude.

Sure, they arent characters in a fighting video game but think about it...SF have already had a Xover game...and this is MK's first (using an almighty powerful engine) so it should kickarse over SF Xover.

If this is successful, then who knows...that may lead the path to a MK vs SF Xover in the future, now that SF is using a new engine for SF4 (albeit not unreal).

I don't believe there will be any true MK story for this game, as that doesnt make sense. DC characters dont even link to each other too closely.

The only issue i have with this game is if the MK features are taken out ie blood & finishers

This looks like it is purely a moneymaker and probably aimed at a younger generation for the DC characters...

1)Dc comics is one of the most important comic producer,second only to Marvel(but this two respect each other and somethimes team up for special issues like Spider Man & batman vs Carnage & Joker,etc).
So actually i really doubt that a feud between DC and Marvel comics exists.Between them is just Business,not hate like TNA or WWE in wrestling,or Alien and Predator in SC-Fi movies.
So don't really see the reason why publishing a respond to SF vs Marvel
2)DC universe it's not childish as someone said...but it'not dark,gritty or gears of war style either....Dc Comics are NOT for idiots or stupid childs,but aren't too violent;it's not the direction that Boon promised to take
3)A MK game without fatalities,blood and Gore?

4)Super man,Batman,Wonderwoman,maybe Green lantern and Constantine(Hellblazer)...are there any other famous(worldwide i mean) DC heroes?Oh yes Flash....im afaraid that the licenses end up here.
Marvel had hulk,spider man,wolverine,x men,daredevil,deadpool,thor,avengers,iron man,captain americ,the punisher(the best comic i've ever read after the CROW),etc are WAAAYYY more famous than DC heroes not because Marvel comcis are better than DC's,but only because Marvel make more stuff like videogames,movies,etc thn DC.So i assume that Marvel is way more popular than DC;i really don't see how useful can be a crossover game....
5)where's the dark and gritty look?We have just a pic nd it's everything except "Gears of war" style...a "normal" sub zero and "Normal "Batman....pretty realistic,but not hotorealistic and not dark and gritty
