That's what worries me. Not so much that it's DC characters in the game, but more so where this will be for MK. It's make or break for them and I don't think they really thought of the position they are putting themselves in.

I think Dante and my fear is that Midway is shooting themselves in the foot and this could be the very last time we ever see the MK logo again.
Not only that but they are going to lose (and already have lost) a shitload of fans who won't be there to help them back up once this gets screwed up.

Well let me just give a big FUCK YOU to Ed Boon and co. Way to alienate your diehard fan base. We cared about this franchise because it was unique. So what do you do ? Take away the fatalities, the blood and unique story, and make it just another fighting game.

The series really did need a revival and has been aching for one since MK4 (MK:DA didn't do the series any justice either before people start moaning at me [and you know it]). This game should have been the canon game - that follows after MK:A, then the MKvsDC project could have been made afterwards to form a smaller profit (if they really felt they needed it). I have read alot of different gaming forums - and the feeling is fairly mutual - this looks like it could be the end for Mortal Kombat, i am guessing if the game doesn't make the money there won't be enough to fund the canon title. And we could be stuck with this game being the final piece of the series.

Personally i will buy it if it holds true to the Mortal Kombat i have been a fan of since the day the first arcade was released. But like the minority of mature posters are trying to say:

"How about you reserve some judgement until we see and hear more in a couple hours."

Theres the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover", that is perfect right about now. Boon said he wanted to suprise us and so far he has shocked us. I'm betting the suprise is still to come.

I really don't see why this would be a problem at all. Obviously this isn't going to affect the comic canon. This is just going to be a silly spin-off we're supposed to have fun with. They'll either pick a specific DC period or mix and match the characters with other else world stories. It's just a big "What if?".

I'm a big comic book fan and I like Batman and Spawn and there was even a Batman and Spawn comic book. Many have mentioned Marvel Vs. Capcom. I guess you either love it or hate it. I agree that it's wierd for a debut next generation MK game. I guess they had to do something insane with MK eventually. What concerns me is how DC is going to fit in with the gore and violence We know Batman is from a gritty story but what about the others? Superman getting his head ripped off? You would need some kryptonite for that!

This is definitely going to be interesting. A huge success or a huge flop.

Untill I see something official, this is a rumour and nothing more. It's not the first time shit like this happened. Just wait and see. As long as Boon did say it's gonna be dark and serious, it's gonna be fucking dark and serious, not a vs joke!

I would've preferred the first Next-gen MK game to be a pure MK game as well, but maybe some people are right and Midway is using this game to test the waters. They'll probably develop an entire new fighting engine and use this spin-off Title to see whether it's solid enough or not, before implementing it into their canon MK games. And I really don't mind that if that's what this game is intended for.

Better to try out new things in a spin-off game, before ****ing up your most profitable merchandise.

I agree. I just can't see Batman, or any DC character (who never kill anyone btw) in a MK game. What is Batman gonna do? Get the people of Gotham City to shine the bat signal at Sub-Zero and hope it scares him away. I just can't see how this is gonna work out. I love MK so very much, and I was hoping that this would not be a crossover game, but alas, I was wrong. It's MORTAL KOMBAT!! It needs NO change. The fact that it has withheld from selling out like so many other games, was what made it so awesome. You could always rely on MK to give you kickass fighting and with the last few games, a decent storyline. Adding crossover characters will not make it a fun, new experience. It will take away everything that MK stands for, and that was originality. Let's hope Batman (and God forbid...Robin lol) learn how to rip someones heart from their chest. The ONLY WAY this game would be buyable..is if they made Batman evil. Cuz how fun would that be?

You know, you don't always need to resort to killing to defeat an opponent. It's also enough to simply beat the **** out of them. Which Batman shouldn't have a problem to do with at least half of the MK cast.

Though this is one of the main reasons why I'd want some DC villains in this as well. They'd have no qualms about killing someone.
