Personally, and especially after reading through this thread, I don't really see what sexuality has to do with liking a video game or not. I don't think it matters whatsoever :)

I'm a gay guy, and I love MK, I love Quake and Doom and Unreal Tournament and various blood splatter and gore type games just as much as I do any strategy or MMO.

As far as MK favs go, my choices are more story driven that anything else. If a character has a decent story then I'll tend to like them. I don't really have a connection to any of the female MK characters, mostly because they tend to have boring storylines. Look at Sonya, same damn storyline since MK first began. Oh god its so boring. Same with Tanya, betrayal after betrayal after betrayal, meh. Yeah she's only looking out for herself, but seriously, they really don't flesh her out any further than that.

The same applies to many of the males. Lui Kang, Kano, Jax, Cage, ugh. How dull! Not to mention that the vast majority of characters that came in from MK4 onwards are mindless boring clones/rip off of previous characters. Kira and Jarek to name just two.

I actually rather like Taven and Shujinko. Shujinko in particular is a tragic story. Scorpion and Sub Zero are still good story wise, though in the more recent games Sub has been getting a little stale.

Sektor and Cyrax have had some fantastic character development, so they're high on the list.

I dunno, I have many 'favs' as such, tough to narrow it down really.

I guess if I were forced to pick one of each gender i'd have to say Scorpion and maybe Ashrah

well I will throw my my info into this topic. i am 35 yr old homosexual male. i have to say i cringed when i saw the term "pink dollar" but oh well. guess it just bugs me that people assume if you are homosexual you are girly, wanna be a girl, love pink and rainbows, love pop divas, etc. that is fine if that is what floats some gays boats, but there needs to be recognition and understanding that there are plenty of homosexual males who are masculine, into activities hetero males are into, have no interest in female stuff, etc., but they just happen to like guys. there, got that out of the way.

as for favorite male and female fighter, so hard to choose. but if i had to...

female: sindel
male: kabal

runners up would be

2nd female: retro costume kitana
2nd male: smoke (love the new look!)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I know that Kitana is the go to girl but like a lot of people have been saying she's boring and generic. I'll give her a chance when this game releases but I am pretty sure that I will drown myself in Mileena and Jade so that I am king supreme. haha.

I also agree with the saying that orientation shouldn't matter in video games. The games are not concerned about it so why should anyone or anything else be? It's frustrating because it seems like when you hop online just for some fun gameplay and you start to talk or you use female characters douchebags want to talk about how gays shouldn't play video games or how video games for men.

People are under the assumption that ALL gay guys are extremely feminine and want to be the next drag queen superstars and that is not the case at all. Stereotypes and racism destroys the video gaming world and makes me a little upset.

With all the new VS poses coming out, did anybody else feels that is they're is one gay character it could deffinatly be Kano?

I mean, the bear look, the tribal tatoos...

actually...not really, altho, given his background he doesn't seem like the type that would care enough to put labels on himself and would easily compromise his values for money or self preservation. I just get the vibe that nearly all the characters would do whatever they have to do to defend the realms.

There was already a straight thread that died done a couple of weeks ago. And this new one was just leading to flames and stupidity on both sides. This thread hasn't lead to any flames since its inception so there's no reason to close it.

He was quite the hero! it's unfortunate he apparently could not stop Armageddon, but then again...in MK9 we are back to the past; so Taven may still be unleashed to stop Daegon and Blaze b4 it is too late! I mean we do know that Daegon is in the background of the new game. so there is hope for the realms if Raiden receives visions! DLC maybe?

Yeah I thought the same thing. I've never cared about Kano but I have a feeling I'll be using him more often this time around.

Because I remember a large stretch around the 10-20ish pages that would say otherwise. Hell, I just jumped back over a few pages just to poke around and take a random sampling, and it was flaring up again as recently as page 40.

Frankly, I didn't have a problem with this thread at first, but I've grown tired of seeing it (and others mocking it) pop up again every few days... and wish it (and they) would just go away already. Every time I see it (or one of those others) at the top of the page I say to myself, "OMG! Are we REALLY stirring this pot AGAIN!?"

I just have a problem with the fact that this thread obviously HAS caused problems, on and off, with varying degrees of severity... And we all seem to keep looking the other way about it, rather than just closing it and moving on.

Over 44 pages and a month or so of discussion, I think we've more or less gotten anything and everything that need be said out of the way in this thread... I don't really think putting the old girl down would be THAT big a travesty.

Yeah, it's updated now, she's tied with Mileena. As for the vs screens that were released, Jax and Johnny are really hot. They will definitely be in the new sig soon lol. And for the people who are 'tired' of seeing this thread, we're still getting votes in. That's the purpose of this thread, and with the game getting closer to the release date and getting more promotion, I'm sure we'll continue to get people in to vote. No harm in chatting in between tallies

I wander if the tally would be different if we saw alot more of the fighters at the beggining like their new moves and outfits, I see johhny as abit of a butterface lol and jax omg dont even go there the skin melted around the bionic arms major turn off lol, Its official no hot MK characters in MK9 (come on reiko as a DLC) :D

I dunno...I'd have to say that probably all the characters are attractive in some way...male and female. and none are unfortunate looking and the men and women all have well defined chests so yeah...and I must remind folk that Shao Kahn needs Sindel to complete his takeover of the realms! according to MK3 anyway.

Taven's one of the only good-looking men in the MK universe, IMO.

Taven is representing the male Edenians quite well. Better than Rain, in my opinion. And I actually liked Taven, though he seemed rather naive and stupid throughout Konquest mode. But it's understandable when seeing he was imprisoned for millenia without knowing why.
