no problem with Gays, my Girlfriend loves Mortal Kombat so there must be something Feminine about it

hay maybe mortal kombat turned you all gay haha just joking

but this is mad cause im on the Eminem forums aswell and seems most where gay on that too

strange, we should do another post opposed to this one see how many straights there is, maybe we can send this thread to someone to do a survey

oh and just one question, is Hector gay??, cause who looks like he is

Mortal Kombat is probably the most masculine fighting game out there, not counting all those wrestling/MMA games. The women are underdressed and heavily sexualized, the men are pumped up and there are some gory monsters amongst the roster as well. Indeed, Mortal Kombat is the one fighting game that is truly aimed at the straight male gamers.

Not all gays are feminine bitches. You don't seem to purposely wanting to offend anyone, and I'm not saying this to be defensive, but I do think you should try and think beyond the stereotypes. Widen your horizon. Gays are individuals as everyone else and can be just as different from one another as straight guys can be.

Some like to watch Sex and the City, drinking Metropolitans in the Pink Room while others like to stay at home with a bag of chips and play videogames. Hey, some gay guys like to do all those things.

I hope I proved my point. ^^

Oh, and I dunno about Hector being gay, but let me just say that I have straight friends who both look and act more "gay" than I do, so that someone looks like he's "gay" doesn't necessarily mean he is...

I'm gay, too, but my personality is definitely masculine and not feminine. Like, I'm "straight acting" but I'm not acting, that's just who I am. And my past ex boyfriends along with a few other gay friends of mine LOVE MK.

My friends say I am bad at being gay because I don't care about fashion and such. XD So I guess I am "straight acting" as well, though I wouldn't really say I am. I'm just being me.

Growl -_- How I loathe the term "straight acting". Unless you've gotten married and had kids despite being gay, you're not "Straight acting".

I know gay guys just use it as an "easy" go-to phrase to say they're masculine or not stereotypical, but it really plays into some offensive gender stereotyping itself and makes absolutely no sense. If you're an out gay guy, ANY way you act, whether traditionally masculine or queeny or femme, automatically is "gay acting". One of my biggest pet peeves -_-... particularly when you're on manhunt and some twink says "i'm straight acting and want same" and i'm like.... "honey you're the biggest flamer on here"

Completely agree. I hate when gays say that. If you have sex with me, you aren't "straight acting."

I feel like guys say that because they think they'll be taken more seriously by straight people or something. I don't know. We're raised to be ashamed of ourselves so even after many of us come out, we still want to be seen as straight. I mean even I get excited when a girl hits on me. But I don't go around saying I'm straight-acting.

I'm not that fond of that term either, but it's a way to explain that one is not effeminate like the gay stereotype. Also, not all straight people get married and have kids, y'know. Hell, even gay guys do that.

It can be very simple. I'm not very picky. I just want it to have Noob, Jade, Johnny Cage and Ermac. In that order with their newest looks.

Yes but marriage to a woman + 2.5 kids would be the ultimate in "acting straight" if you were a gay guy, is how I meant it.

There's much less non-sensical ways to say you're masculine... like.... saying "masculine". The way straight acting, in my experience as an effeminate gay, is that it's so often used as a way to say "haha i'm better than you because i'm more traditionally butch and i'm a better man because of it". It really irks me because it makes no sense. -_-

I'm not offended per se. Just irked and in some cases insulted.

The amount of times I've gone onto manhunt or whatever, and seen "straight acting only please" then coupled with a phrase like "no femme guys. i like my men to be real men and if i wanted to date a girl i'd be straight".... it's really bothersome to see gay guys themselves being prejudiced.

There's a difference between a guy whose just masculine and is comfortable with that and with who they like and all that, like i'm sure you and most guys in this thread are. They just happen to be masculine and it's no big deal, so of course you use the term "straight acting" because everyone gets what you mean when you say it.

BUT there are a lot of guys out there who AREN'T like that, and when they use the phrase it reeks of internalized homophobia.

In your case and how it's been used in this thread, it just bothers me mildly because how can an out gay person be straight acting? By nature, however you act IS gay acting, whether stereotypical or not.

I too find it pretty damn offensive when someone tells me something like "...but you're cool because you act straight". It's It makes me so mad, that I actually feel the need to queen out or something.

My problem with it is that it makes me feel like the person isn't really accepting of homosexuality at all, because for all intents and purposes, I'm just another stright person to them. And that reminds me, it's salt in the wound when they follow it up with "as long as I don't see you kissing another dude...".

But what if I suddenly want to rant about the latest episode of RuPaul's Drag Race? What if the person learns that I very much enjoy Tegan and Sara's latest album? Will I still be accepted?

Yeah i hate when people say stuff like "im okay with it as long as they dont flaunt it around us" I dont think anyone goes around going look im makin out with a dude watch me watch me. were just the same as a straight couple we dont flaunt it and ask for attention that is what really pisses me off.

But that's not really what happened here. The man simply used that term to state what how he is, and he isn't wrong in using that term. That you guys take offense of it, well... that's your own deal. But he hasn't wronged any of you by calling himself that. Therefore, I think you are being quite over-sensitive about it right now.

We had a drag show here at Penn State and I heard a lot of comments like "Why the hell are they allowed to act like that in public? That's disgusting! etc. etc."

It's truly no more different or disgusting than watching a straight couple make out in public. It's just as nasty to watch a guy and a girl make out in public, but you never hear anyone complaining and making a huge deal out of it.

The "queen" behavior, I'll agree, is a little too much for me. I have my girly moments. I'll watch America's Next Top Model marathons, cry at chick flicks, and sit in front of the mirror 30 minutes before I go out, but I can still talk to guys and keep a friendship with them too.

I guess my main point is I like moderation. Masculine is great, but some feminine qualities thrown in are nice too.
