Yes! You have to make lots of those stripped candies and connect them with that chocolate candy in order to clear tons of them. It gets harder as your progress in the game.

I was told by my cousin that there's parts where you have to clear this candy thing that grows per each move you make that doesn't destroy it. Great, I got growing candy coming up soon... It makes me mad, but something about it just makes me not want to give up so easily. Ha!
