Alright, I wasn't going to offer my thoughts on this matter, but since everyone else did I'm also going to, LOL...
Well, yes, I was shocked by the fact there is only two legs on Motaro now. However, that does not mean that the new representation of him is trash. It just takes a little while to get used to that's all. Actually, it really didn't bother me at all too much. He still looks tough, he's still got the same face, tail, etc... just two legs. It's not the end of the world.
Midway is NOT a terrible company to all those who are calling them one because of this matter. If they were so terrible, you probably wouldn't be on this site to begin with obsessing over their game. They've brought every important MK character back for this game and that alone is enough for ME to buy this game. It looks great and you all know your going to have a lot of fun playing it.
They obviously had a few problems working the four legged Motaro into the engine, but it's not a big deal. A lot of people probably haven't thought about all the scenarios where he just wouldn't work in the game. I'm sure there's conflicts with how he would recieve fatalities, especially with the new system. I'm sure there were death trap issues.
It's still Motaro and we know they will make up for it with a story. So, just sit back and enjoy... it's STILL going to be a great game. I applaud Midway for at least trying to include him, instead of everyone that are dissing them.

this is complete craziness. They could have at least had him walk on his hind legs with his front legs always up. This would have been an easy out if they wanted him to work well and do all the aerial kombat. Not only is him only having 2 legs dissapointing, but the rendered screen of him looks like a total rush job and looks horrid in comparison to kintaro. I can't believe they would spend time making a silly Mortal Mario Kart game instead of finding a way to make motaro be represented as he should be. Guess if this is how it's gonna be we shall all have to deal.

Have you guys ever thought that Sheeva might of cut off Motaro's back half hine legs and tail and then motaro got a new metal tail to replace the old one?

Honestly it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would, cause when I saw him, he looks pretty much the same, juss with 2 legs, I'm not even a game developer, and I know juss based on Mechanics itself it would not have worked, how would you motion capture that??? get 2 guys dressed up in an old school 3 stooges horse costume, and walk around?? I'd rather have him have 2 legs then not be in it, it juss wouldn't be the "Complete character experience" if we didn't have the body guard and sub-boss of Shao Kahn for 2 or 3 games.. so.. everybody else juss has to calm down a little and accept it.. he can't have 4 legs.. not with this engine, maybe on the PS3 they'll be able to work with that..

60+ characters in the game; Midway has added everything all the fans wanted; They even gave you meat(wtf?). I agree. Motaro doesn't look that bad anyways, he's missing two legs, so what, I'm still cool with that. He's in the game, that's all that matters to me. On the real though, you guys put way too much pressure on yourselves to have a game the way you wanted! Midway and the Mk team, come on, they've done everything they can to please the fans, and ya'll act like lil' babies saying things like they let us down or midway sucks. I think you guys are way over your guys' heads. One ERROR (I wouldn't say it was an error..), but ONE ERROR..and you guys go ballistics.
It's really funny 'cause, at first, you guys was all like going mad crazy when at the beginning of the year, they said Motaro might not make the cut...and when they was confirmed ya'll had a change in heart. Same thing goes for Chameleon, Meat, and all them other guys; you guys were like we want them, they put them in, and then you guys are all hyped for the game again. Now, you guys are like, OMG. MOTARO should just not be in the game...WTF though, you guys were crying like lil' girls for him to be in the game. I think anyone who knows what it takes to program games and such and such, they would know what they're talking about, and you guys sort of ignored that, and I've noticed that from a couple pages back.

its not too damn much to ask to get what we want for our money. perhaps if someone stayed over a few nights and figured a way around this without butchering their characters, they might have solved it. or perhaps even more so, Midway should for once give the source code to the FANS to see if they could do better. im certain that any obsessed fan could pull off what Boon could not. lord forbid that Boon's fears would then be manifest as he witnesses a group of young adults beat him at his own game. the fans could do better. they KNOW what they want and they could make it happen.
if Boon gave up his source codes for the existing mortal kombat games to each console... Example being: ps2-xbox-gamecube-psp etc.
do you see the fans doing better? or half assing the game due to "time constrants"?

check out how dedicated people are these days to try and get jobs at Midway and then you will see fans who would kill a man to see a PROPERLY made mortal kombat title. it wouldnt take long.

it would have been nice to see them try to create a good ender for this generation but i certainly didn't expect them too...
what really sucks about this is that the future will be no different.. they will continue the same bullshit on the next gen and that is a fact.. our only hope is that they sell the rights to the game to a superior intellect...

Is it really that impossible? What if they made the hind legs a sort of "Tail Enhancement"? Think about it. Considering the hind legs as hind legs it would be extremely hard. However, if you have him in a similar stance to his currnent, put the back end where the tail is now, keep the hind legs off screen (that way we don't notice them not moving), & throw him into battle. I'd rather have this idea then what he has now, but I'd rather him have two legs than him not be in at all.
If bipedal Motaro is inevitable, I will (reluctantly) accept it. Maybe Midway can mold the story around this new development? I think something like this would explain it pretty good.

That is, until, he crossed paths with Shinnok. The former elder god agreed to assist Motaro, but at a dear price. In order to pass away from hell, Motaro would first have to give it's ruler a symbol of his heritage. He would loose his back legs & become exiled from his race, but to him revenge ment more than honor. However, Shinnok did leave an opprotunity to get his legs back. Shinnok wanted Motaro to kill Raiden.

Sure, the new Motaro does look cool. But I think the problem that everybody's having, myself included, is the fact that we have to dismiss what he's looked like for the past 10 or 11 years since his debut in MK3.
The countless images, posters, art, renders, appearances in movies, etc, will all have to be discounted and ignored! 4 legs to 2? Lol! When you really think about it, the poor guy's been castrated!
One way of doing it could be to have him killed off in the opening video - end of dilemma! But no, the guy's back, minus his rear end.
Sure, he looks cool - but what off the image we've had in our heads of this great centaur for the past decade? Pretend it never happened? That Motarto never had 4 legs the past 10 years? That's a little hard.
