Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Rain Gameplay Trailer
Be water, my friend!

Rain is fighting for his place among the Edenian pantheon and he's wielding a whole new bag of deadly demigod tricks when he returns to battle in Kombat Pack 2! Watch the official gameplay reveal trailer to see what's in store:

The latest character reveal showcases a range of customizable gear options and deadly combo potential. Water can flow or water can crash, and Rain has developed his mystic mastery over the element for a whole new arsenal and gameplay experience!

The old favourites are still there, with water orb and lightning summons, but Rain will be an even more slippery storm warrior when he liquefies himself to dodge projectiles, and fake opponents into a go behind assault!

Delivering deadly damage to the back is his new hand-wielded katar blade that can extended into a three-pronged claw. Rain can also ride a jetstream to boost into fast flying kicks, become water for a charging ball-grab combo, or blast his foes with watery spears. All setting up for the coup de grace of a water disc that explodes into a fountain of flesh flaying fatality!

Rain's exciting newfound gameplay comes courtesy of demigod mastery over a "previously unknown water realm" that he can access via portals to summon waves to wash away opponents like Kotal Kahn, Shao Kahn, Sindel!

Trainspotters will have enjoyed the exchange of intro dialogue at the start of the trailer, where Rain questions Kotal about his minions. Reptile and Ermac served Outworld's new emperor during Mortal Kombat X, but haven't made the playable cut in MK11.

Mortal Kombat 11 Designer Confirms Undiscovered Secret
There is no knowledge that is not power.

In November, MK11 will expand into Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, but the arrival of Kombat Pack 2 isn't the only thing waiting to be discovered on current & next gen consoles. A designer who worked on the game has confirmed the existence of an undiscovered secret that's been lingering in the game since release!

NetherRealm Studios Designer Aaron Davis made the bombshell claim on Twitter, revealing the presumed undiscovered secret involves something done during a match.

Mortal Kombat X started a tradition of secret and unlockable brutalities, but Davis also confirmed the secret is not a brutality, while responding to a $100 bounty placed on its discovery by the r/MortalKombat Reddit fan community.

It's been a while since the series has delivered one of its truly iconic hidden or unlockable characters, but an unresolved June discovery by prolific data-miner @thethiny has drawn speculation towards an undiscovered secret fight in Towers of Time.

Mortal Kombat X featured a hidden Reptile fight in the Klassic Premier Tower. Could something similar still be lurking within MK11? Share your theories & discoveries in the comments below and check out more in the Mortal Kombat 11 forum!

Rain Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack 2 Render Art
A chance of purple Rain!

Rain makes his regal return as one of two playable klassic kombatants included in Kombat Pack 2! The Edenian demi-god will also share the cover of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate when it's released for current & next gen consoles next month. Take a closer look at his newest design in featured render art:

Rain is instantly recognizable in a purple & black combo, with highlighted gold trimming that emphasizes the Edenian storm warrior's status as the son of the lost realm's protector god: Argus.

The design remains very in keeping with the cult kombatant's other recent appearances, paying homage to his iconic redesign for 2006's Armageddon, while adapting the closed cowl of his original UMK3 and updated 2011 designs. It remains to be seen if this will have significance relating to the timeline of his return.

Rain's lineage was reintroduced in a recent character mini-bio, while the details of his design can further be examined in official hi-resolution screenshots. The past weighs heavily on this character, but he has a few new tricks as well, coming to the arena with a katar style claw weapon. It can be seen in the Kombat Pack 2 Reveal Trailer.

NYCC: Ed Boon Talks Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Mileena & Movies
Fandom, fangs & film!

A time of global pandemic has led the world's favourite fan conventions to find conscientious alternatives to prevent the spread of potentially lethal coronavirus. New York Comic-Con went virtual this week, with NetherRealm Creative Director Ed Boon attending an official NYCC stream to celebrate the announcement of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. Watch:

One of the biggest talking points proved to be Mileena, who made an instant splash as one of the most talked about social media trends to come from the game's early morning Kombat Pack 2 Reveal Trailer.

In an off-the-cuff confession: Boon explained the development team "hit pause" on Mileena "just to create an appreciation", but didn't expect to be innundated with requests in the years leading up to, and including, the release of Mortal Kombat 11.

Boon attributed the ravenous response to the enduring, classic adversarial qualities of MKII's original color-coded sibling rivals, Mileena & Kitana. He compared their status with the instantly popular opposition of Scorpion & Sub-Zero in the first game. All four have continued to be staples of the series, even if they aren't always in direct opposition with their classic rivals.

Mileena reached a higher status during the plot of Mortal Kombat X, where she engaged in a civil war to reclaim the throne of Outworld. Her tumultuous reign as Shao Kahn's successor was also detailed in tie-in comic books, and ultimately led to her execution in MKX's story mode. Boon poked fun at her resulting absence with an April Fool's post, revealing in the NYCC interview that he only did that knowing fans would eventually see the character in Kombat Pack 2.

Asked about the upcoming live-action Mortal Kombat movie, the series co-creator revealed that he has seen cuts of the film, but couldn't speculate about a release. The very general response highlighted the difficulties facing the movie industry since pandemic restrictions, and the likelihood of the January 2021 release changing.

Enthusiastic interviewers also asked about the process of recording dialogue for film star Sylvester Stallone, who reprises his role of John Rambo for the downloadable guest character. The actor conducted his recording sessions over popular video conferencing tool Zoom -- putting him one step ahead of longtime box office rival Arnold Schwarzenegger who did not record dialogue for The Terminator.
