Official Hi-Res Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Screenshots
Rain, Mileena & Rambo in action!

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is officially coming to current & next gen consoles in November with three new Kombat Pack 2 characters and pre-order skins. Get a closer look at the returning warriors in high resolution screenshots provided by WB Games and NetherRealm Studios! Right here:

Fan-favourite returning kombatants Rain and Mileena feature in dramatic stills showcasing frozen moments in a couple of their deadliest moves!

Rain is back using the power of water to conduct and contain "Blood Moon" Skarlet, while Mileena reclaims her trademark sai blades, and klassic Tarkatan maw, to stab and threaten the "Halt & Catch Fire" Liu Kang skin. Check thumbnails to also see John Rambo machine gunning the sky with the likeness of actor Sylvester Stallone!

The images give us a closer look at new designs for the returning fighters: Mileena has departed from both her klassic one-piece (seen in Kitana's Friendship), and the more recent pants & bustier update from MKX. A simple, solid pinkish-purple hue evokes klassic MK sensibility, while adapting more complicated unused fabric wraps from the last game. The time displaced Mileena also reverts to a more traditional, toothy Tarkatan grin.

Rain remains consistent with a purple palette on black, adorned in pale gold - as he has been since design updates in Armageddon. This time the Edenian demi-god is seen with a closed head wrap, more similar to his 2011 cowled design than the exposed top knot of Armageddon and MKX. This could address questions raised by his mini-bio. Check out character render art below:

Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack 2 Character Bios
Kombat Pack 2 profiles!

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate expands the playable roster to 37 characters with the addition of three new fighters in Kombat Pack 2. In welcoming back Rain and Mileena, and inducting guest John Rambo, the official website has updated with a trio of new mini-bios explaining their status. Read on:

Long time fans of the characters will know the basics, but it's notable that the update confirms the return of a time displaced Mileena.

Fighting to reclaim her briefly held throne as Empress; Mileena was executed by D'Vorah during the civil war of Mortal Kombat X. Despite her demise, she was conspicuous by asbence in MK11 when Kronika recruited Shao Kahn and other loyal Outworld warriors from the past.

Rain (Position)
Growing up an orphan, Rain joined Edenia’s army. His strategic genius earned him quick promotion, which he used to learn he was the bastard son of the god Argus, Edenia’s Protector. Armed with the knowledge that he’s a half god, Rain battles for his place in Edenia’s pantheon.

Mileena (Identity)
Mileena is the product of Shang Tsung’s diabolical cloning experiments: a perfect blend of Tarkatan ferocity and athletic grace. Brought forward in the timeline by Kronika, Mileena has learned of her tragic future. Her enemies now must submit, or die.

John Rambo (Freedom)
John J. Rambo is a former United States Special Forces soldier deeply haunted by his time in Vietnam. He is rough, aggressive and is well known for entering exceptionally dangerous situations alone. Rambo has reactivated his ruthless fighting skills to infiltrate the MK universe.

Rain is another period appropriate character who could've appeared alongside time displaced fighters. Owing his origins to a play on words, the sometimes overlooked character was first playable in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and included as a late DLC addition in the 2011 franchise reboot.

A stubbornly non-playable character in Mortal Kombat X, Rain's exact status was left uncertain after disappearing in story mode. The mini-bio only addresses his standard motivations, leaving it open to speculation if this hooded version is a past incarnation, or present.

At the time of publication 77.8% of MK Online User Poll voters picked Rain as the best new addition. Mileena & Rambo captured global attention after the Kombat Pack 2 reveal trailer.

Rambo & Mileena Peak Global Trends With MK11 Ultimate
Early bird draws first blood!

They say the early bird catches the worm, and a domestic morning start for the reveal of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and Kombat Pack 2 succeeded in capturing the attention of a global audience! The announcement generated two of the Top 10 global trends, dominating discussion in the United States over breakfast. Read on for details:

Proving the power of cross-promotional guest characters was Rambo, who reached at least the 6th highest Worldwide Trend in the hours after an explosive reveal trailer.

The iconic Sylvester Stallone character originated in 1982's critically acclaimed First Blood adaptation, amassing an international fanbase over a series of five films. The built-in audience no doubt helped push cinema's troubled war veteran beyond trailored "Trends For You" into genuine topical talking points.

Mileena dominated domestic trends for the United States, but not before she was a global phenomenon as the 9th most talked about topic on Twitter [pictured below].

Mileena isn't the first Mortal Kombat character to achieve the feat in the social media era. Johnny Cage benefitted from a similar early start in 2019 when his midnight Mortal Kombat 11 reveal trailer became a worldwide sensation.

This time the returning kombatant was helped by a massive social media campaign launched by NetherRealm Studios. Along with a pre-trailer teaser preparing fans, the @MortalKombat account undertook a swath of personalized replies to tweets requesting Mileena as far back as January 2019.

Mileena has become a staple of social media replies to Mortal Kombat news over the course of the game's lifespan. Creative Director Ed Boon could discuss few subjects without being inundated with Mileena requests, leading to an April Fools joke ruling her out indefinitely. Mileena was killed in Mortal Kombat X, but conspicuous by absence among Mortal Kombat 11's time displaced warriors.
