McFarlane Toys Unveil Mortal Kombat 11 Figures at SDCC
Scorpion & Sub-Zero in 7 inch!

Swing by the Diamond Previews booth at this year's San Diego Comic-Con and you'll find a McFarlane Toys display with the first look at their upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 action figures! Take a look at the debut models:

As announced at New York Toy Fair in February, the line leads with perennial series mascots Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

The pair appear in default Mortal Kombat 11 designs as seen in official renders for Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Standing 7 inches tall, they capture dynamic poses and come with accessories from the game, such as Scorpion's swords, spear, and Sub-Zero's ice axe and frozen skull & spine!

The first-look collectibles can be seen in photos [above] shared by WB Games' Alan Johnson and extensive coverage from the McFarlane booth by Toyark. According to the display each figure will retail for $19.99, slightly cheaper than the comparable Fortnite series.

Pro Kompetition: Hayatei Takes Nailbiter at Viennality
Oh, Vienna!

Europe braced for impact last weekend as the Mortal Kombat 11: Pro Kompetition arrived in Austria for the third leg of the Premier tour. Viennality delivered a fresh mix of traveling and local talent as the competition heated up ahead of next month's Evolution major!

Watch: Day 1 | Top 8 | Grand Final

Pistol shots rang out in the Austrian capital on Sunday, July 7th as Erron Black came back to the forefront of competitive play! With the crowd behind him Hayatei took full advantage of a clean record, surviving an exciting mirror match that hinged on the final round to decide the win 3-2!

Tekken Master surprised his opponent with the first game of the Grand Final, unleashing an aggressive Kung Lao! After a punishing first round, the second was narrowly saved with a Fatal Blow, leading Hayatei to take a nailbiting Third with luck, as much as skill. Tekken Master was able to even the score quickly in the second game, but dropped the third, leading the unorthodox strategist to switch to the gunslinging mirror match. It paid off, pushing him into a 2-2 reset fighting out of the Second Chance bracket. Like a showdown at high noon, it was all or nothing as Hayatei fended off the reset with a sudden death Fatal Blow to claim the championship!

Though the $15,000 title purse went to Hayatei, there were reasons to celebrate from second and third runners-up A F0xy Grampa and DizzyTT, too. The Brit reprised his role from CEO 2019 as third on the podium, earning enough points to be right on the heels of absent series leader SonicFox! DizzyTT's consistent appearances were bolstered with his best result on the tour to date, boosting him into the Top 10! Scroll down for the updated Pro Kompetition standings!

Writer Touts Mortal Kombat Movie R Rating & Fatality
Movie will finish them!

Writer Greg Russo has provided a vocal outlet for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie reboot, previously killing rumors and discussing scripting & Kabal. Speaking directly to fans. he's made it known the movie will carry an R rating and deliberately transpose Fatalities when it comes to the big screen in 2021. Read on:

Mortal Kombat has long been known for its infamous death moves, but applying them to a franchise of iconic characters has been tricky. The 1995 feature film didn't exactly shy away from death. Sub-Zero, Kano, and Shang Tsung all suffered memorable onscreen fatalities, along with various non-specific characters invented for the film. The movie's adolescent-friendly rating merely meant the violence was bloodless, and less graphically featured than recent games, such as Mortal Kombat 11.

Russo declined to reference any particular finishing moves the movie will recreate. Wth the recent news of casting fpr Sub-Zero, some may already be speculating about his fated death, and transformation into Noob Saibot. Popular game canon saw his life end at the hands of arch-nemesis Scorpion. In the Paul Anderson directed movie, it was Liu Kang who finished him.

Recent games, such as the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot and Mortal Kombat X, have embraced incorporating mass fatalities into the on-going series narrative, most notably leading to the invention of Netherrealm revenants. If you're concerned the next Mortal Kombat movie will be nothing but entrails and murder, don't worry. Speaking to excited fans, Russo also compared the upcoming movie to Deadpool, "For the humor".

Mortal Kombat's big screen comeback will film in Australia later this year, with first-time feature director Simon McQuoid at the helm. Atomic Monster is producing, with Aquaman director James Wan emphasizing a desire to "do it right". Are you excited to see fatalities on the big screen? Nightwolf Shows Face in New Mortal Kombat 11 Screenshot
Ed Boon releases new image!

Late last month Ed Boon gave us a taste of what's to come. Now his latest Mortal Kombat 11 downloadable content teaser gives us a clear view of the face of Nightwolf! Take a look:

Gazing off screen in profile: Nightwolf is instantly recognizable in iconic red & blue palette, with slightly updated face paint and head gear. The still very also closely resembles the image seen in Kombat Pack sketch teasers.

The preview follows a full body shot of Sindel, which showed the Edenian Queen in revenant form, and came with a tag line prompting speculation of a reveal sometime next week. The latest Nightwolf tweet quoted Pulp Fiction: "Oh, you're sending the WOLF?"

Staged on a featureless black void, all three images (including the earlier Nightwolf axe and foot image) can be compared with reveal trailers released for Mortal Kombat X's Kombat Pack 1 and Kombat Pack 2. Will we see the newest DLC collection get the same treatment? Jump to the comments to share your thoughts and join the discussion on the Mortal Kombat 11 forum!

Mortal Kombat Movie Casts Sub-Zero
The Raid star joins MK movie reboot!

Casting is now underway for the Mortal Kombat movie reboot and the first major character has his live-action counterpart! Martial arts action player Joe Taslim will join production as Sub-Zero. Read on for more details:

The Hollywood Reporter provided the scoop, but have no additional details concerning plot or identity. Merely that the Indonesian actor is the first to officially sign on to the project, which begins filming in Australia later this year.

It remains to be seen if the film will feature the Bi-Han incarnation of Sub-Zero seen in the first Mortal Kombat and it's first movie adaptation, or his iconic successor Kuai Liang, who has fulfilled the role since 1993's Mortal Kombat II. Fans know Bi-Han as destined to be killed by his mortal nemesis Scorpion, returning from the Netherrealm as the blackened wraith Noob Saibot. Human identities for the Sub-Zero siblings were more clearly defined with Mortal Kombat (2011), and their rivalry continues most recently in Mortal Kombat 11. Update: Writer for the film Greg Russo has given the game away, answering this question directly via Twitter. "Bi-Han".

Joe Taslim (left) as Sergeant Jaka during The Raid's iconic Mad Dog fight.

Taslim gained international acclaim with his starring role in The Raid - an action-thriller about an elite police squad forced to fight their way out of a drug lord's appartment complex. This eventually led to Hollywood action roles as a henchman for Jason Statham's Shaw in 2013's Fast & Furious 6, and Idris Elba's Krall in Star Trek Beyond. His accomplishments include multiple competitive medals in Judo at a national an Asia regional level.

Writer Joe Russo has promised Sub-Zero will be 'kicking all sorts of ass' in the film, to be directed by Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan's Atomic Monster. An open search for "physical performers" of all ethnicities and genders living in Australia began late June, with an extras casting call to begin July 19th. Interest in Joel Edgerton for the role of Kano has been widely rumored.
