I'm saying Rain as a possibility for boot 5 because the shoe he's wearing when kicking Kotal off the roof has a toecap which is a different colour to the rest of the boot (gold toe on a dark purple boot, so dark purple it almost looks black), both shoes have creases which look alike & the hem of his pants looks similar to the fold of the hem seen in the pic of boot 5. But if it turns out not to be Rain I think it'll be Jax or Bo'Rai Cho (the latter being an outside the box guess).

couldn't be Rain's, his pants dont tuck in like that and he isn't wearing military style boots.

So, I haven't been keeping up with this aspect of the pre-release "info & teases"... Can someone explain to me whether these remaining boots represent just the characters that are going to be revealed pre-release, or the actual rest of the unrevealed roster?

the remaining boots(2,3, and 5) are just 3 more remaining characters to be revealed, not the only 3 left

Yep; boot 5 is Jax. No doubt, same toe-cap, same tucking in of the pants leg, and the same line on the side of the leg (just to the right of the kneepad).

While we're at it, boot 2 is Kenshi or Johnny and boot 3 is Liu Kang.

The evidence of boot 3 being fujin is too much for me to deny. The boot has the same isignia as one of fujin old boots.

Boot 2 is definitely kenshi with the cape seen in the background.

You are looking at the size. Since when did liu kang have bug feet. Also remember hes based off Bruce lee. Bruce lee wore a sz 7.5. Its liu kang lol hes probably gotten older and smaller.

I really hope we get to see johnny(possibly boot 2) and Liu(possibly boot 3) soon, so we can know if there will be more characters than the supposed "leaked roster" since those 2 are the only people left from it that we haven't seen the boots of.

If just one of those boots don't match than that means there are more people playable than that leak said(but pretty sure everyone on that leak is playable, just think theres gotta be more too)

Boot 2 isn't Sonya's. As well as the boot clearly belonging to a guy it also has straps on it which Sonya's clearly don't have.

I think it's probably going to be

1. Quan Chi
2. Jax
3. Liu Kang
4. Kitana
5. Jacqui
6. Kung Jin

2/5 could be reversed but idk. Erron Black could also be one of them but oh well.
