This in every aspect. Hopefully this time around there isn't some "let's look at the files" people who toss all the spoilers on the site this time.

Unlocking something to gain a sense of accomplishment and to increase replay value. Anyway, what does unlocking costumes have to do with anything? That's not the point of the discussion, and it is most definitely is not a substitute.
There shouldn't be this much of an issue for those who likes to unlock characters versus those that don't. And if it's mainly because of tournament issues, I hate to be this selfish but I shouldn't be affected by those group of people. I don't play competitive video gaming, so why do I need to be affected by their needs?
Which obviously can be said in reverse, as to why tournament gamers should be affected by non-competitive gamers' needs and wants?
No matter what the issue is, someone or no one is going to get everything they want. But my main concern is how the reaction will be like. Will people get their panties in a bunch if there isn't unlockables or if there is?
I stated my side, I want unlockables, and I don't want tournament players be the only reason why I can't have that. It's not selfish, it's a want. If I want to be selfish I'd be saying that they shouldn't have anything catered to them, they should play the game like how you normally would play and suck it up that you gotta unlock everything.
That's being selfish.

You know what's selfish? Having the devs release an entirely different version of the game just so YOU can have unlockables. Like I said, I'm cool either way. I'm pro unlockables but I completely understand why they would be a bother to others.
My only issue came after people said "Skip the minority, they're not the majority so they're not important".

Rest assured that tourney players won't be the only reason why there won't be loads of unlockable characters in the game. If it's a reason at all.I stated my side, I want unlockables, and I don't want tournament players be the only reason why I can't have that.

I want unlockable characters, what ́s the point to have everything right from the start? There's no challenge or goal except win the fight. It ́s fun to have more than just what the game is supposed to be.

Icebaby didn't portray that as a selfish thought though. More of a solution. Like other people have said they could at least do an option in the beginning of the game to have them locked/unlocked. It's not too much to ask for and would be a win/win situation. Personally I love unlockables. Getting all of the fighters in DA and D was a blast and I have fond memories of it. However, I don't think that just because I love unlocking kharacters that those that don't should suffer and vice versa. An entirely different copy for each side might be too extreme, but an option upon startup of the game seems pretty reasonable to me.You know what's selfish? No. Please make every character available from the get-go. I like to play fighting games at tournaments and it makes it SO much easier if we can just pop in the disc and have every character ready to use. It is a severe hindrance to lock characters.

I would have 3/4 unlockable characters with a square on the select screen, and also 2/3 real secret characters, that are hard to find and unlock. I believe that for a roster of 26 that is a good number.

Ya know, even with hard unlockable characters, it will be easy. How? They will release on how to unlock the characters, which will make it easy.
