Outside of more time travel or alternate dimensions... the first 2 fighters revealed (and the mascots of the franchise) are both dead characters.

No one in Mortal Kombat truly stays dead. You should know this by now.

I really don't get it when people say that.

What do they expect Shinnok to do, NOT use anyone from Hell, the realm he rules, where the dead go?

Are they expecting him to not be in the game at all despite the previous game ending with him saying "mwah ha ha, now it's my turn"?

I'd like them to at least stay out of the way for a game or two. I think it's a pretty basic request. They shockingly killed the majority of hero's, I don't want to see them re-appear next game.

As for the whole "nobody stays dead in MK". Death did actually mean something up until around Deception. Save for Johnny cage's story which seems to be intentionally convoluted "Mortal Kombat: The Death of Johnny Cage" lol. For a while it was only Scorp and Noob, I'd like for it to stay that way in the rebooted timeline. Call me crazy if you will...

If MK9 hadn't ended with that Shinnok scene, then sure, it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask that the dead stay dead for a game or two.

However...y'know...King of Hell? Had Quan deliberately collect MK9's dead to use as soldiers? They SAID that in the last game.

I honestly don't think they even knew what they were going to do with it when they wrote it, how am I supposed to know? Either way it's either the dead will stay dead or NRS will meet us in the middle.

There is no way in Netherrealm (see what I did there ) every dead character will appear next game. A fraction of the cast were only there to complete the nostalgia vibe of MK9. For example NRS are probably done with Nightwolf (for obvious reasons lol). Same goes for Stryker (he's just unpopular).

They could try to set things up over time. Personally I'm more interested in "Game of Milieena's throne" than the main plot. I understand all of your "where do you think this is going" and I think it's going in an even cheesier direction than MK9. That's why I'm praying they don't do it. I'm all for a Netherrealm invasion... of actual Oni's. The Idea of evil heroes invading is something out of a Saturday morning cartoon. Nothing wrong with cartoons, I just want MK to be a tad more serious.

Like I said though, I think NRS will likely meet us somewhere in the middle. Once again, I'm not saying "FUCK THAT! YOU'RE WRONG". It's just my opinion MK would benefit from being just a tad more grounded.

Imagining the scene of New York or L.A. being stormed by Onis of all kind gives me goosebumps... New York or L.A. being invaded by the village people... Not so much. It's that sort of stuff I want MK to stray from lol

See personally, I think rotting corpses of your friends and loved ones are WAY scarier than red horned demons.

That's why zombie movies are so popular and nobody has ever really made a "Hell attacks Earth" movie that was about just demons instead of the dead rising from the grave. (unless the plot is that the demons are possessing regular people. Lots of horror movies are about possession...)

If Tanya is indeed in I'm hoping she has better fatalities. I didn't care for her Deception ones, they felt pretty lazy.

They were definitely lazy and without an once of personality. They could've belonged to absolutely anyone. If she is in I hope they play up her abilities as a sorceress/magic user.

That's actually a really good point, it's just who those loved ones are. Like I doubt NRS can actually make the hero's look menacing. Like I hate to repeat my cheesy joke but ya to me they would be the "evil" village people unless they REALLY improve the art direction.

Kitana didn't get one, Sonya didn't didn't get one (Why.) and if one had to go towards one character Tanya would be the best choice.

Anyhow, yes, a variation of her neck break would be interesting to see. And if they do indeed go that route, I would like to see something even more brutal and original as her secondary fatality. I mean, why not? They did afterall bring back Quan Chi's MK4 fatality for MK2011 so it's highly possible.

Fatalities are supposed to be gruesome. How is a neck-snap fatality gruesome? No blood or anything being exposed....
As for them brining back Quan Chis leg beat-down, I wasn't wowed, as it was still lame.
