Taven and Daegon for MKX?

Best fate would them to be quietly retconned out and forgotten, in my opinion. A lot of the plotlines / characters from MK4-MK:A were hot garbage and now, with MKX moving the plot into the future, NRS has an opportunity to trim the fat.

That is exactly what I think they are doing. I've said it before. I don't think people like hearing it but no one has made a reaction statement to it before so I will say it again: We will not see one mk4-A character that we havent seen in mk9, (shinnok, kenshi, quan) MIGHT see fujin because of story elements.

I agree. I feel that way about many of the MK4-MKA era of characters, but there are a bunch I'd like to see return as well. Most of them though I wouldn't miss and would never want to return.
LoL at the gifs. Love the MKO
@BadAss6669, Taven is a pretty awesome name I must admit. I actually tried really hard to name my son Reiko, but the ole Lady wasn't having it. We settled on "Mason" but we agreed if we have another boy, she'll let me name him "Ronin" LoL.
@Courage. You're probably right about the MK4-A newbs not appearing (besides Kenshi, QC, and maybe Fujin). But yes, it IS sad to hear, esp to me, MK4 was my favorite MK of all.
What I was really trying to say in my earlier post was that the "groundwork" is there, if NRS was still trying to go the Armageddon route. But I do agree that they're most likely NOT going that direction.
But having said that, I'd personally love to see Taven return. I'd like to see him channel his firepowers thru his sword for one of his variations, since it looks like Scorpion will not be able to do this with his Ninjitsu style.
I like Daegon's story much better than Taven's. But this is another situation where I feel the 2 can be alternate skins for 1 another, just like the 2 Green Lanterns in Injustice. Both are pyrokinetic and they even use the same weapon.

I'm not trying to be a total negative nancy but any plot involving Blaze needs to go the way of the dodo OR be retconned to be capable without Blaze. Technically MK:A could be rewritten but it was a suuuuuuper weak premise with a hamfisted main plot born into existence simply to justify every MK character returning in a fighting tournament format. Taven and Daegon themselves weren't absolutely terrible (I just rewatched MK:A Konquest mode) but...they really weren't that interesting either. Pretty two-dimensional / shallow character arcs for being main characters to the story and lacking any sort of memorable buzz worthy fighting style "gimmick".

I find them both rather bland if I'm honest. And I don't see how the characters like Ashrah are overrated?
In fact the word overrated annoys me - all it means is you disagree with the majority of other people. And since the majority of people do not love those characters, they are not 'overrated'.

Shinnok, Kenshi, Quan Chi and Fujin (most likely Tanya too), if they are in, I will be really happy and satisfied! No need to have any other returning character from MK1-MKA if these ones are in.

I just rewatched MKA storymode on Youtube.
I think I would accept a redesigned Deagon over Taven, he could serve as a lieutenant to Shinnok who will almost definitely be part of the story. Logically Deagon should be awake already and I like the part in storymode were we see the Red Dragon! I'd like to see Caro and Orin again in some capacity.
Couldn't Raiden (or anyone) simply kill Blaze (who doesnt need to be playable) at some point in the story and prevent Taven from being awakened and Armageddon from happening (pretty sure Blaze was seen in his visions).

Personally I would prefer Daegon over Taven. As someone stated before, he is connected to Shinnok and founded one of the biggest clans (at least from the previous timeline). ¿Taven? Nothing against him, but I wouldn't feel sad if he lay there encased in stone forever. As for Blaze, the best way to avoid the Armageddon arc is his death.

Daegon was in the background of the Pit stage, so we know he hasn't been totally forgotten by NRS, as were all the other background characters that really would like a chance to shine again (Reiko, Frost, Sareena etc)
I honestly liked Taven - easy to learn to fight as and a real moody 'anti-hero' character.
I'd like to see something with them, but it really only would work as a totally different storyline, now that armageddon has been "prevented". Daegon was closely tied to Shinnok and the RD clan, so his inclusion would make sense. Taven, well, even if he stays in the rock, he can still be mentioned one way or another to show the difference of events in the 'new' timeline.

A BIG Yes for Daegon and Taven.
They represent the yin-yang balance of Mortal Kombat.
