I hope not, they were both absolutely terrible characters. Extremely boring and pulled out of NRS's ass and had their severe dullness blamed on time crunch. MKA as a whole had a horrible story that shit all over the MK universe and diarrhea'd on each individual character's story arc, before punching the fanbase as a whole in the nuts for following the story of the series over the years. But as the internet has taught me, some people like getting shit on and punched in the nuts so good luck to you with Tavon and Daegon, may god have mercy on your poor, poor taste. And yes this is just like, my opinion, man.

While I enjoyed those two characters in Armageddon (Daegon single-handedly made the Red Dragon interesting IMO), not sure they have much of a role going forward given the whole undoing of Armageddon in MK9. If, however, Kitana, Jade and Sindel stay dead and Rain is a no show then there might be a need for some Edenian representation in MKX.

They have potential as any other character, but the core idea of MKA story was pretty generic and while it wasn't that bad in its own right, it still left a lot to be desired. The biggest problem of MKA was lack of bioses and the last minute change from plotless kompilation into fullfleshed seventh installment in the series. Though, neither Taven nor Daegon has nothing to do with this.

As for those two, I wouldn't be against seeing them again. But since their game was sort of low point of the series, I doubt it'll happen.

Somebody had problems with the stomach. And your opinion =/= good taste, it's just your opinion. Remember that for the future. smile

I don't want either to be playable, however I kinda feel like you cant ignore them.

I want them somehow addressed in storymode, (along with Shujinko) even if part of just involves Raiden stopping Shujinkos Quest, or killing Blaze to stop him awakening Taven and resealing Deagon in his Tomb.

I'd love to see them come back. If the NRS team can make Kano look interesting imagine what they could do for Taven and Daegon? Hell I even named my first son Taven

It would be awesome if my son could play as himself!!!
sad

Agreed. They have so much potential to become great characters, just like Stryker and Kano in MKX.

So just because you hate Taven and Daegon and dont want to see them return, you render the whole thread terrible? wow, just WOW.

Daegon yes. He has a lot of potential to be an awesome villain, Taven though...why? Armageddon isn't happening (for now) so it would make no sense for him to appear. Hah then again that didn't stop the MK Team from fucking up with logic last time right?

Raiden: I'll save this guy named smoke because he was such a useful ally last time

*later*

Raiden: Sub-Zero is in trouble...eeeh I better just let this one play out. Not like he was one of my strongest warriors or anything.

Yes for Daegon. Taven would be alright, but I wouldn't be too annoyed if he didn't return. Daegon had some interesting moves, and I'd like to see what kind of individual fatalities they'd give him. As for his story, they'd need to put an emphasis on him being the founder of the Red Dragon. He could be involved in the stories of Kano and Sub-Zero (it was said in SZ's MK:DA ending that that the RD and Lin Kuei were once potential allies).

I would also love how hot and bothered some fans would be if he was one of the few old characters to return, heh.

Since this thread is about Daegon and Taven, I admit I'd love Dehlia, their mother, as a playable character.

Since we haven't had much news to discuss lately, AND we've probably already speculated on everything under the moon with MKX... I was pretty bored this weekend and finally had some time to myself. I went ahead and replayed the storymode of MKD, MKA, and MK9 all back to back. It was pretty entertaining I must say....

We all know that Raiden sent his past self visions during MK9, but he also sent a msg - "He Must Win" to which MK1 Raiden was very confused about. He kept guessing at who "HE" is, and which fight is MKA Raiden even talking about? Then we know the rest of the story... Raiden never figures it out, just about everyone dies. But having played these games back to back, I must say that I'm 99% sure that "He Must Win" is referring to Taven.

Dehlia and Argus built that pyramid for Taven to fight Daegon, then the winner fights Blaze. A victory from one would depower the MK Fighters, but a victory from the other would kill them all. But both outcomes STOP armageddeon. Obviously Shao Kahn won, creating the MK9 reboot. But I'm wondering if NRS is still trying to play this card somehow. I feel Taven is more likely to appear in MKX becuz he is the hero. Or maybe NRS is saving this story for "MKA2" and we'll get the right victor this time around.

I know that in a gamescom interview, Boon said MKX is going down a different path with its continuity. But he could very well be blowing smoke. LoL So my answer to the OP, I'd definitely welcome both Taven and Daegon. If I had to choose just 1, then Taven. They both need an MKX makeover. I personally liked them better than almost all of the post-MK4 newbs

You guys are all wrong...

"He must win" was Raiden trying to communicate with his past self that in actuality, all existence was an illusion and part of the Matrix. "He must win" really refers to NEO having to shatter the oppressive domination of the machines and finally free mankind. This is why NEO must win.

So no this doesn't confirm Taven, it confirms NEO as the guest character we've all been speculating over. Nice job Orion!

I feel as though endless criticism will develope if Taven, Daegon, Shujinko, Shinnok, Onaga and Blaze aren't at least addressed and brought to a conclusion or new direction.

Kill Taven immediately. Fry him, pit him, Raiden him, leave him in the rock and have it fall into magma. Bye bye.

Keep Daegon but he must be separated from this Blaze bullshit. Red Dragon is more than enough.

Blaze must not complete his quest.

Onaga/Shujinko could stay as long as the Kamidogu don't get out of hand.

We will see Shinnok. I'm sure of it.

I rather see Daegon more than Taven because at least Daegon has something going on with him, and that is the Red Dragon. With Taven, is there even anything he can be thrown into to give more character? I felt he was too bland, too boring, and that nothing exciting happened to him other than he was the character you got to play during conquest.

Yawn.

Best fate for them is to be killed off-screen and have their deaths be confirmed via a throwaway line.
