Tanyas new design unveiled!

Someone in the superthread suggested there be a new thread for this, so here it is.

NRS designer Solomon Gaitan promised earlier this week that Tanya was getting a redesign after the negative fan response. Today it went up on the main 'Coming Soon' screen and it looks fantastic!



Her skin's been darkened to the right color, her hair looks so much better, the costume has been turned a brighter gold, and she has the white eyes from Deception. I wonder if they'll be variation-specific.

All in all as a big Tanya fan I couldn't be happier.

I am probably alone in this opinion, but I think Tanya actually looked pretty decent in-game. Yes, her renders/reveal looked like shit, but her cutscenes with Mileena and Kotal actually yielded some good results.

So with that said, I don't know how to feel. It is a great throwback, definitely improved upon since MKD, but until I actually see her in game...I dunno man. Indifferent.

I didn't think she looked terrible in-game, she just didn't look like Tanya. Her skin was too fair, her facial features were all wrong, etc. It would've been fine as a different character, but as Tanya it was a big miss for me. I like the new costume a lot and I'm glad she's still wearing it.

I think she looks a lot better, I'm really curious if they're going to update her scenes in story mode though. If someone just got the game and played story and after they went to buy Tanya they would probably be pretty confused.

Yeah, hopefully the new model will be patched into the story mode.

He only had normal eyes in the 3D era and his primary MK9 costume.

I dont know how to feel about this. I actually started to like the original Tanya. After seeing her in the story, she didnt look that bad. The darker skin looks better tho. I didnt mind the hair but it doesn matter. The only problem I have with the new design is her white eyes. I dont like them. I find it distracting. Theonly other characters like that are undead or gods.

I hope the original Tanya is an alternate costume.

It does when you harass the developers on twitter, bash them on facebook and forums, demand thry listen to you and when they do- start ranting and raving about the shit you claimed you wanted in the first place.

I hope that black smear around her eyes was some early, lazy rendition of her MK:D domino mask, because otherwise they messed up again (as previously seen in her Deception alt.)

She looks a lot better, anyhow.
If they're variation specific, awesome. Stick it on the variation with Kobu Jutsu and Normal fire attacks and she's MKD Tanya to a tee....ayy enn why ayy

She just looked much better with normal eyes and I hope we have both instead of one or the other. Along with Drill Kick, Cooch Fatality and Purple Flames because fuck you moveset wise: MK4>MKD

I don't think it's 'harassment' to ask a development team why they lightened a woman of color's skin. That was a fuckup on their part and I think people were right to call them on it.

In any case, I'm thrilled with the changes and can't wait to see her in-game.
