Ditto. I was feeling a little stressed as of late, giving plausibility to her exclusion, but her appearance in the comics, and now this trailer, have assuaged that a lot.

I feel they put a lot of effort into her presentation in the comics--from obvious inclusions like her position as Colonel and Earthrealm's "ambassador", to subtleties like her bitchin' new look and even that shadow over her eyes from her headwear. It was a very stylistic approach. It felt like they were introducing an important character to the upcoming game, as opposed to giving us a cameo of someone who'd be going away soon, or receding into the background.

This video, especially, puts me at ease regarding her inclusion as a playable character. Just because, as much of a renowned troll as Boon is, he's not known to be an asshole--and what an impossibly dick move it'd be to put a would-be Sonya as the face of MKX's Special Forces Faction, alongside other playable leaders, only to later give us a "HAHA It was just an image!", or "HAHA That's Cassie, we were just revealing her ALT!" It doesn't make sense for them to do something like that, it'd be effort put into sending Sonya fans spiraling into depression lol. I wholeheartedly believe that this, while not 100% confirmation, is the MK Team's way of letting us know she's in, and curbing the "CASSIE = SONYA + JOHNNY WTF" discussions.


All that being said, I really hope she has the look from the comics. I absolutely loved that one, especially the long-ass braid; additionally, the collar, the color palette, the shadowy face. Fingers crossed.

I could make the same argument about "some people" making their wishful thinking and head canon pass as facts. Which I believe is way more common.

^ I agree, her comic book look is awesome! I definitely hope she gets it as an alt. I was kinda giving up on Sonya being playable or even being quickly killed off to keep her out of the game but I'm glad that's not the case.

Sonya's human perspective on the events of the last game during story mode were some of the highlights of it for me and I'm looking forward to seeing how all that has affected her. It seems like they finally have a means of showing character development and making the characters more believable. I can't wait to see what they have in store for Sonya.

Yeah, that is 100% Sonya and anyone who says its Cassie is either blind or in denial. I mean, apart from the fact they're mother and daughter, the two look so fucking different that it's actually annoying seeing people say its Cassie. I'm actually glad Sonya's in tbh, which surprises me because she's never been a favourite of mine. With what looks Jax in this game as well as a few other teases I'm so fucking pumped for this game!

If Sonya is in the game then I am 99% sure she will not be a re-skin or alternate of Cassie because Cassie's moveset does not fit Sonya. I can not imagine Sonya doing Cassie's X-Ray for example. It would look totally out of place. Sonya has her own iconic moves. Sonya has energy rings so does not need to shoot bullets etc etc.

Congrats to the Sonya fans. I'd much rather prefer Sonya to just be a skin for Cassie. But like someone already mentioned, Sonya has her own classic moves that are obviously absent from Cassie.

The Alternate Character Skins worked just fine story-wise for Nightwing/Damian, the subzero bros, and the 2 different Green Lanterns. Would u guys really be THAT mad if Sonya was just a skin of Cassie?

Sidenote- If Jackie Briggs is going to be just another female Special Forces agent, she could be a skin as well. I know that its unknown what her future holds just yet, but do we really need THREE female soldiers? LoL (insert pallet swap ninja joke here)

That's Sonya. The faces are not identical. No amount of arguing is going to make it Cassie. Cassie isn't going to be raiding her mom's dresser. Read the comics. They don't even get along.

Because Cassie doesn't play, and doesn't have Sonya's moves. Isn't that enough? If she did have Sonya's leg grab, energy rings, deadly kiss, etc we wouldn't be annoyed by Sonya being a Cassie's skin, but she doesn't.

Like I honestly don't get how people think this is Cassie when the obvious is hitting you straight in the face. And as I've said it before, if this was to be her alternate, why the heck would they not tweak the neck in that model if they've tweaked the neck with the one-piece model? That would be stupid to leave one costume alone while the show off-y costume gets more reveal and picked on by fans.

I really don't get how people are really thinking that picture is Cassie in an alternate outfit. It's Sonya. Until is confirmed otherwise that it's not, it's Sonya.
