Mysterious, not good / not bad, evil looking eyes but forgiving character, hiding something, a unique style (cowboy), kind of a loner. The mystery about his whole design in the comics and the only new character to remain unmentioned by NRS makes him at least intriguing. If he turns out to be good, especially something as stupid as Sonya's father or any kind of family relationship, then he's easily one of the worst newcomers. A loner outlaw has much potential. Making him a good guy roaming outworld would be stupid.

I actually kind of agree with you. We know little to nothing about him, and I think a loner outlaw type of character would be fucking awesome. Which I think Erron Black fits the description.

The mystery behind the character is what intrigues me. Who is he? What is he doing? What role or purpose does he have in the story other than being allied with Kotal Kahn? Does he have a connection with any character in the roster? Is he superhuman? Are his guns unique? etc

Him being related to someone in the cast would feel kinda forced and it would be a bit of a disappointment to me. Him being on the good side wouldn't be all that bad, though. If anything just from his comic appearance, to me he seems to be Neutral and leaning on the good side. Someone had a theory that he was lying when he was explaining what happened with Mavado/Kano, maybe he'll turn out to be a villain after all.

I cannot even start thinking about the insanity this board would turn into if one of the most mysterious character yet would turn out to be another family member.

NRS would have an angry mob with torches and pitchforks outside waiting for them.

He could become the next Baraka or Reptile and I honestly wouldn't care. I'm sold on his cool factor alone.
