There's just something about this character that gets me hooked. Cowboys are apart of American history and I can imagine them being brutal. Erron Black also reminds me of John Marston from Red Dead Redemption. Anyone agree?

Not me.

I think he is a cool character but nothing special about him, when he showed up in the comics he was mysterious and looked pretty freaking awesome, but after seeing him in-game, nothing special about him, it's not really his fault, everybody looks pretty cool in the comics.

But I can see him gaining a lot of fans, as for me, not that excited about him.

Design is a generic cowboy with a mask and isn't as good as when he first appeared.

Neither do I, I agree with you. But the silent lone cowboy gimmick is bound to be popular, it always has, under no circumstances original or inspired though.

This guy is seriously the Boba Fett of mortal kombat tongue

I'm not his biggest fan but he looks pretty cool from the little bits we have seen from him.

I'm excited for Erron Black. It's true that he looked a lot better when we first saw him in the comics but we've seen two pics of him yet. Maybe he looks great in action.

Althought, I'm not sure why you guys think he looks like John Marston.

There's nothing similar if you remove all the cowboy elements.

Yeah I understand what you mean, his case reminds me of the Kenshi case, they made him from the start knowing he would be a badass, they knew he would work.

It's nice to have a gunslinger in the MKU, but like you, I'm not getting what all the hype for him is about, he looks cool but so does Takeda(Which totally is not Raiden from Metal Gear Solid, lol).

The guy basically seems to be what Dairou always should have been, and then some.

I'm really intrigued by Kano's comment in the comics that he's "too busy trying to save people when he should be exploiting them", and the fact that he really seemed to want to help out Cassie and Jacqui. There seems to be a lot more to him than just a guy who's out to get paid. I have a feeling he'll play a pivotal role in Story mode.

I really, really can't wait to see his variations. The rifle/shotgun/whatever it is strapped to his back that you see in the Story clip isn't visible in the achievement shots; looks like he might have different guns between variations.

Speak for yourself.

I am not a fan of his design, and his name sounds like some sort of tropical disease one would contract.

"Hey, I just got back from Cuba and I have some Erron Black on my foot".

Unless I am wowed by his gameplay, for now I refuse to jump on this bandwagon.

I agree with Shadaloo's post, I'm thinking his story input will be pretty important and I think his real identity will play a part of that.

Theory: The reason we've heard (Virtually) nothing official outside of the comic except Ed Boon replying to IGN's analysis of Erron with "Error?Erron who?" or something like that is because in-game he's known as Salazar. Shadaloo's point about different weapons per variation also matches Salazar's webseries bio stating he has amazing weaponry skills.

I don't like the name Salazar. When I searched for more info about the casting sheet and search the name, I found the story of 13 yo Yancy Salazar who stabbed his friend to death by "playing out" a "Cyrax fatality" that involves "grabbing the other guy in a headlock and stabbing him" (according to the mom of the kid that died).

It's probably a big oversight by NRS. Or maybe he used to be Salazar but someone realized this and his name was changed to Erron Black and few months ago. The casting sheet could have been left unpdated since names of characters are always subject to change.

I really don't expect people outside of the U.S. to understand American love for the Gunslinger... It's still the Wild West over here although the cowboy is pretty much dead and gone but the lore behind them was amazing. When you think about the Texas Rangers or the likes of Wyatt Earp(Erron Black seems to be a similar name) or Doc Holliday you think American heroes of the west. Then there are the great fictitious Cowboys and gunslingers like Clint Eastwood, Jon Wayne, Call and Gus from Lonesome Dove, and Roland from Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Strong Free men with a cause and a six shooter who know how to live off the land and protect themselves. They were living the American Dream.

This is why I love the idea of a gunslinger in MK. He's truly the American badass that stands out in a world filled with Ninjas and otherworldly beings.

I think he's a very unique design in terms of MK and I look forward to seeing what he can do.

I'm fully prepared to like this character a lot, even if I know that some out there will hate him just because they don't see what all the fuss is about. Don't get me wrong, I can see not liking a character for a wide variety of reasons. Lame look, bad story, etc, but hating a character just because others like them is beyond stupid.

^real talk. It was like afro samurai with the headbands, it was a game to them. "who's the best" and if you weren't better you were dead. My favorite was doc holiday especially in tombstone, he was a flashy asshole but he could back up his talk. To see black spinning his guns during combos and being an arrogant prick would be awesome. I think your right about having knowledge of American culture though. When I see people say cowboy it makes me think of a farmhand like RDR, a gunslinger is completely different imo.

Well Borderlands is my favorite shooter game, and Erron looks like he could fit right in on Pandora. So his design has me interested enough to want more from him. He could end up being terrible in gameplay or bland in character, but everything I've seen form him so far is great. I would also like to add, Ferra/Torr is(are?) in the same boat with me.

I like him...he's unique and I'm sure he'll olay a big role in story mode! And about the rumors of him being Sonya's dad...I would.like it more if he turned iut to be Sonya's brother or something.

I wanna hear what Mr Erron Black has to say. That's what's going to make or break him for me. I hope he has some badass lines. Like a Gambit type of attitude. If he doesn't speak at all, he's gonna have to do a whole lot doing to make up for that. (epic entrances, unpredictable actions etc.)

Hate to brag, but I knew they were going to put a Western character in.
A few months back I predicted Caleb from 'Blood' as guest character, but they made an original character instead.
Oh yeah. I'm Awesome. glasses

Jk, lol

I still wonder though, if they saw that old post of mine. Unlikely, but still smile

Team Kotal are the most interesting entries that have been introduced to the series, I like all 4 of them equally.

MK always needed a bug-type character and D'vorah definitely delivers. I was so psyched when she flew into kombat during her reveal. It's a shame that we don't have as many new characters as we've expected.

He's certainly intriguing but I'm not entirely sold on him yet. I need to see more from him. His design is a little flat for me, probably because I was never a big Western fan but if his gameplay and personality deliver, I can see him being a real stand out character.
