God, NO.

They're all superfluous, but I do feel Kung Jin has some potential in terms of future story.

The rest, however, can take a hike. They have zero charisma, with the lone exception being Takeda's match intros. Plus, no more of this "offspring" BS. It's a copout that relieves NRS of the responsibility of having to create new, original characters.

The girls especially can go jump into a vat of acid. Jacqui winning over Stryker made me want to vomit.

The girls are growing on me, Cassie, Jac and Jin;), but I just can't like the whip boy. Idk why, he feels silly and unreal somehow.
Cassie's up shadow kick looks a bit cheap. Jac is fun but I'd choose her dad over her anyday. Jin is really quite good, but can't we have a revamped Nightwolf instead.

Kotal, Black and D'Vorah are really good though, Torr is okay.
As for those 3d era characters, no thanks.

Whaaa???

You mean you wouldn't want to see Fujin, Li Mei, Bo Rai Cho, Frost, Sareena (basically all the NPCs) get a playable role on the latest gen? Or Reiko and Havik, who have built up a cult following from ther part in the comics? Personally, I would even like to see characters like Hotaru, Drahmin, and Kai getting a second chance.

There is a ton of potential in these characters even if they weren't well executed in the series' weaker entries.

To answer the question, it would be stupid to focus the MKX story mode on them and then drop them. I'd much rather see the parents retire. I think all four of the newbies are well-done. Jacqui and Kung Jin could use a little more flash in their designs, but they're all solid characters.

It's really this simple;

Will they all return? Yes.
Will they all be playable? No.

That's the power of their story modes now. If they wanna continue Takeda/Jacqui's romance, they can via cutscene. Both don't have to be playable now for that to happen. If they want Kotal Kahn to still be involved in the game, he can be via cutscenes and not have to be playable.

Kung Jin looks better than Takeda does. He looks like he was pulled right out of an MGS game. His alt looks like a generic Shirai Ryu ninja.

'MGS ninja' is flashy, though. I said flashy, not unique. I think Jacqui and Jin are plenty unique, they just don't have exciting enough designs for most people apparently.

3. Takeda Farts when he losses round one but has an awesome moveset
4. D'Vorah Has fans she'll be back
5. Kotal Kahn not much fun to play as but looks cool
6. Ferra/Torr should have been the Sub-Boss
7. Jacqui Not a fan before and still not a fan
8. Erron Black Worst set of Fatalities in the game

I would be willing to give them a chance...

If they are a bit older and don't act/sound like a bunch of kids. If the story for mk11 drops many veteran iconic characters ( I am for that) and centers on a group of early 20 year old protagonists fighting a new creature/villain like a weekly episode of power Rangers the MK story will suffer...hard.

I'd prefer they bring back Cassie, Takeda, and Jin as playable, but I never seen anything potential in gameplay and story with Jacqui. I think she should be killed off in order to develop Takeda and Cassie. Make bad stuff happen in order to develop these characters. I think the lack of good guys dying made MKX a little too easygoing for the good guys. I'm looking forward to more deaths and drama that actually makes sense in context of the characters in MK11.

Killing off a female character to pump up her boyfriend's storyline is the height of lazy storytelling.

But a group of 20 somethings fighting a bunch of creatures/villains is a simplified version of MK1-MK4. Like, that is how you would explain it to your grandma.

I think people calling the new heroes teenagers are exaggerating. The original heroes (Liu, Lao, Johnny, Sonya) were in their mid 20s, literally a couple years older than the new ones.

The 3d characters don't have the gravitas, the pulling power, and the new kids have this problem as well, but to a lesser extent.
I understand some fans invest alot of time in the story and have fuller, more informed perspectives on these characters, but the majority of buyers don't, like me, and 'we' go on first impressions, mainly, and the strength of character on the select screen.

This game is rated 18 in the UK, so why would people of that age and above identify with the kids? The thought of the oldies disappearing and the new guys taking over, yuk! No sale.smile

Kotal, Kung Jin, D'Vorah, and Takeda are the only worthy ones imo.

And I'd honestly be alright if they just stuck with Kotal. But I don't see NRS dropping D'Vorah or Cassie considering how much time they spent in the limelight.

Actually, there's no way Cassie and Jacqui can be older than 20. JC defeats Shinnok/ Raiden revives Jax in scenes that occur 20 years before the present tense part of the story. There is no evidence that Cassie or Jacqui were born before these events. Adding nine months of pregnancy, it's more likely they are both around 19.

Takeda and Kung Jin might be a bit older, that's possible. But I think they are looked at like teenagers because they all have the same cocky teenager personality.

Kids....lol people love calling them that. And I still don't understand why Jacqui is hated. I was playing with her last night, and she had some nice moves, she may not have the personality of Cassie but to me she isn't that terrible and what does her skin color have to fo with it? She can be purple all i care. As far as them not returning, the only fighters I see making a comeback is Cassie and Takeda. Maybe Kung Jin and Jacqui will be NPCs or make cameos in the story mode. And if these decendents won't replace their parents, I guess Johnny Cage, Sonya and Jax going to be fighting even in their 80s lol

Of course they should all return. It would be pointless to spend SO much time on them and completely ignore them in the next game.

And I love people who respond with "No they suck and shouldn't return". So instead of giving them a chance to actually get better as characters let's just throw then in the MK dumpster along with Hsu Hao, Kobra, Darrius, Dairou, and Kira. What a perfect solution.

It's the good ol' people complain about NRS never letting go of the past while they can't do it either.
