Is there really anyone that wants a gay dude in mk? Is there? I hope not... This is a fighting game, it would have no purpose at all, and a character being gay for the sake of having one in the roster would be stupid.
If you want to play as a gay dude play an rpg...
As it for the girls... My girlfriend actually loves the chicks in mk as almost naked as they are (remember everyone digs hot chicks in sexy outfits, even a girl!)
And as for the man, she is satisfied with the shirtless dudes like Quan (mk9) As mentioned earlier a guy in a thong is just silly and never sexy.

Ahhh, memories. Harkens back to the "Gaymer MK9" thread in 2010-2011. Just like then it was pointless for the most part, however, in defense fr some there were valid points brought forward and both straight and gay alike had some valid points. Every game from here on will have one of these threads I suppose. Just let the people get it out of there systems. The game will be here soon enough with no sexually active kombatents and all will be fine.

Well most women aren't into sexually flamboyant dress on a dude, so that leaves only one target audience...

Way to generalize.
I find it funny that people think that a "sexy guy" can only be gay though.

I said "most" for a reason.
But it goes back to my "speedos are comedic, not sexy" point earlier.
There's actually been studies done on, like, what people find attractive, or what kinds of porn people watch and their reactions to it, that show men, on average, actually like looking at dicks more than chicks do (partially because when men watch porn, they often self-insert onto the guy, and want to imagine themselves with a big dick).
Women aren't so into physical features, and the features they do like are, like, torso muscles, facial features, sometimes asses...

I suppose whoever wants a sexually dressed male would be either man or woman, but for all intent and purpose, it still would be a person sexually attracted to said character in some form. I just can't see a straight male video game player wanting a sexually dressed male.

You haven't played alot of MMO, have you?
There are plenty of straight guys on those who pick the "sexy" race and dress them up all hunky.

Technically you could still have a half nude guy that appeals to women since its unlikely that any genitals would be showing anyway.

MK2 has FIVE of them.
Their names are "Liu Kang", "Johnny Cage", "Jax", "Shang Tsung", and "Shao Kahn".
It's six if you're into four-armed giants.

It's working pretty well for Smash Bros...
Dante (original, white haired, not the emo gross one) from DMC is VERY sexualized and straight men love him. Its fun to BE him!
Also going back to Soul Calibur... most characters are sexualized... male and female. Kilik, Maxi, Xiba, Hwang and Rock are a few examples.
Just to throw a few other sexualized male fighters who have worked:
LEATHER, CHAPS... no one complained about K!
And lets not forget this dude:

Ehh... It doesn't feel the same. Maybe if the camera goes up their butts randomly during scenes? I always wondered why the typical example of a sexualized male (usually anyone shirtless) doesn't feel the same and I think thats it. Camera angles and posing.

Now what makes these three "sexual"?
Top guy's not doing anything special except wearing a choker.
The middle guy isn't wearing or doing anything special, he's no more or less shirtless and his pose is no more or less provocative than anything Liu or Johnny ever does.
And the third one is fully clothed. "Leather clothing" is automatically sexual?
The other two pics were guys with covered chests but bare midriffs which...is just kind of uncommon fashion for a male, bordering on crossdressing, so I guess that's sexual, but I'm not sure it appeals to members of the opposite sex. Perhaps it's more for members of the same sex...
This is what I'm saying, sexuality doesn't work the same for men as it does for women. It's not "camera angles and poses", and it's barely ever about the amount of skin being bared either. It's all psychological. That's why half of MK's roster being shirtless guys doesn't "feel the same" to you. The camera has never been shoved up Jade's butt and I'll give you that she does a pole dance as a winpose and that's kind of stupid...but what would you have them do, make Johnny thrust and gyrate his hips like Ace Ventura or Val Venis? Again, that's not really sexy, it's comedic.
I think I would make a distinction between a "sexy" male character and just an in shape guy with his shirt off somewhere in the personality and body language of the character, as well as certain design characteristics. Like, if you compare MK3 Liu Kang and Jax, one is sexy, the other is not, even though technically both are muscular and have no shirts on.
Liu Kang screeches, wears high waist pants and a bandana, and has this bizarre near-mullet hair cut. His persona is rather cheesy and the way he stands commands no attention. He ain't sexy. Jax, on the other hand, stands with his big arm flexed, has a hairstyle that recently made a comeback (on white guys, but still) and doesn't detract from his sex appeal like Liu Kang's, wears lower rising pants that show off his toned legs instead of baggy ones, and has some nice leather boots. Also, the stache. The overall appearance of the character gives him a sexier vibe and in the older games, appearance is really how we deduced much of a character's personality... Which I find to be perfectly acceptable and even desirable in a fighting game character. Their outfits show the same amount of skin, but when everything is considered (including poses), Jax is a sexy male character and Liu Kang isn't.
As for modern designs that make a male sexy without making him comedic, it's more about designs that show off his assets without making the target audience squirm, which is perfectly doable. Just look at Kenshi. He is covered head to toe, but his sleek design that shows off his features rather than covering them up with unnecessary accessories is sexy. It kind of makes me chuckle when I see straight men in this thread trying to say they know what is sexy to a woman and what is sexy to a gay man... You don't. While I can't say all women are the same ('cause duh), if many of them were honest with you, you'd know there are LOADS of women just as gross as a teenage boy, hehehehe....
There is even potential for designs that occupy the middle ground between those who desire serious male combatants (aka not sexualized to the point that it's funny), and those who want to see some skin. A sort of tribal design, or something similar to Kitana's MK2011 primary without being so generically feminine and without the belly-shirt. Lengthy, tastefully designed loin cloths, some cultural accessories or some intricate tattoos that make his skin as much a part of his costume as his clothing, etc... etc... Many possibilities. Not everything is so black and white.

So what is a sexualized male character for you? A ratio of skin to fabric?
Ryu shows more skin than K, but K is way more sexualized because his attire is much more sexually suggestive. Open chest, tight clothes, leather chaps, etc.
The same way that Sonya in MK9 shows less skin than Talim but Talim is much less sexualized because Sonya has emphasis on her chest and tight pants... and wears high heels.

The fact that Sonya is showing some serious cleavage pretty much beats Talim's appearance. Both have revealing stomachs. The only difference is, depending which Talim, her shoulders are revealing while the other, she's wearing a vest, like Sonya.
And the reason why Talim is not sexualized is because SHE'S FUCKING 15 YEARS OLD!

Because that stops the Japanese not to fetishize ephebes and children.
Do remember that their culture allows for a much earlier consent, nevermind lacking the taboos and cultural connotations of our cultures.
Even fully clothed a character can be sexualized.
A bunch of straight guys arguing over what makes a man sexy? LMAO
Okay boys, time out. Let's clear something up. There aren't any sexualized men in the MK series. The closest would be Shao Kahn, but that's a leap. There's a difference between wearing less clothing and being sexy.
They put a lot of effort into making the women of MK look sexy. They highly stylize their clothes, their stance and posture, their face, their voice, etc. Kitana, Mileena, Jade, Sonya, etc aren't sexy because they're almost naked. It's a mix of all the above.
The men in MK don't get that kind of treatment (unfortunately, for those of us who like men).
The best example in recent games that I can think of that showed sexualization similar to females would be Chris Redfield in RE5. His face, his body, the cut of his shirt, his new biceps, etc. Chris Redfield, today, looks like a gay porn star. They made it even more obvious with his alt outfits (his leather daddy outfit and the sailor one with the white booty shorts and the crop top). Piers Nivans was also obviously carefully created to look very attractive.
The men in MK lack that sexual attention to detail. Sometimes they don't even have nipples.
Google "Chris Redfield sexy". That's more in line with how the women in Mortal Kombat are portrayed, and it's how I think at least one or two of the guys should be portrayed.
As for there being gay Kombatants - yes please! It's something that's been asked for several games now. There are gay main characters in AAA blockbuster titles now (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc). Will it make some people uncomfortable? Yep. Sucks to be them, they'll get over it. It's 2014. Everyone knows someone who's gay.

You do understand that sexualization is not bound by just appeal tid to procvreation, I hope.
Everything is sexualized on some level. Some not in the vein as: something I would want to fuck, but on some toher levels. Car design is sexualized sometimes, etc. This is a adjective that is waaaayyyy more complex than most of us thinks.
Also, guys have been always debating about what is an attractive male. That is a biological-social predisposition of ours. Sex (from fucking to ideal mate partners, body types through clothing and behaviour to appeal to conformity) is serious bussiness, wether it's ultraliberal hippie stuff or restrictive religion.
Are the MK characters sexualiyed? Yes. All of them through different levels.
