Since MK, with a few notable exceptions, has always had their women performing acrobatic martial arts and slinging magic while almost naked, then why not have a male character wear next to nothing as well so the lady gamers and gay fans of MK would have something gawk at?

I mean we've had our lions share with Kitana, Jade, Mileena etc., those are the sex symbols of the franchise, they'll likely be half naked again when they return in MKX and most of us guys always water our mouths when we see them and play with them. Yet, some women gamers are put off by those and gays have nothing in that regard, so I think it would be okay with me if we have an almost naked male to appeal to them.

For instance- an Edenian fighter, the male equivalent to Kitana and Jade, who basically wears a lower face mask (like the 2 mentioned), batman style gauntlets, shoulder armor, ninja boots, and...a G-string to cover his (rather large) family jewels that would bounce and jiggle like the boobs in MK9.

Shao Kahn, Hsu Hao, Torr, we have the beefcake quotient covered.

Also, why ask the pointless question when you already know the answer?

NRS would never objectify a man they way they do women. While there are a few men in various states of undress it's to highlight their physiques so you can't really compare say Kitana and Shao Kahn.

Approve!

They've made Kano a lot better looking in my opinion so that helps me. I think it's always better to have something visually appealing if you have to look at it all the time, no matter what it is.

When Dead or Alive 5 released the swimsuits for the male characters I downloaded that straight away! I know it's weird because they are just videogame characters but the graphics were so nice in that game it was definitely appealing to me as a gaymer, like the bouncing huge boobs are for most of the other players! lol

It wouldn't hurt having a male character in something a bit more skimpy, especially with these graphics and all the extra detail with the sweat etc. sex sells tongue

I can't really understand this kind of argument, since I've never been attracted to a cartoon or video game character. Ever. All I see are polygons and textures. And usually lots of clipping. Not sexy.

But if people really need to get hard/wet when decapitating their friends... ya know what, no. I can't even.

I don't want any "sexified" males. There's no need for it, and it is just going to stir up stupid debates about feminism, sexism, and equality yadda yadda yadda.

For the record, I've been one of the more outspoken in the past against "sexified" females as well. I have multiple outlets for that desire, I don't need my women in video games to be slutted up just for the sake of "sex appeal". Mileena is the only one who should be "sexified", and that's because it plays into her character being a Tarkatan, fooling her victims etc.

So the answer isn't to bring in dudes wearing thongs to appeal to girls/guys who are into "sexified" characters like that, it's to keep things logical and lessen stupidity.

Lastly, a lot more women in reality dress to take advantage of their "assets" than men do, by a landslide comparison. So this is a bit of a reach to think because there's women in skimpy outfits and sexual mannerisms, that there should be men too. It's just not how people are. If a man dresses to show off his "assets", it's going to be to show off his muscles, physique, and all that jazz. Which we already have with just about every male character. So it's apples and oranges here.
Am I the only one who plays fighting games to actually fight? Like there is porn on the internet if you want to see things like that...

Agreed. It's not a committee, NRS doesn't have an obligation to appeal to gays, transgenders, cross dressers, etc. I'm assuming most of the staff are hetero males and made a conscious decision to make the females show lots of skin in MK9. Looks like they're not going that route in MKX if Cassie is any indication. That's their prerogative and their decision. No problem with the gay MK fans wanting to have a homosexualized character, but you are not entitled.

Some women use their looks to get what they want. Why? Because it works. Men get distracted by half-nude women. And if your opponent gets distracted by your looks, you get the upper hand in battle. It makes sense.

The same method doesn't work when men tries to do so. Mainly because men weren't seen as sexual and sensual beings in the past. That role was mainly only for women.

That has changed now though. Male sexuality is used ALOT these days, especially in advertisement. And alot of modern men aim to look hot and sexy. They mainly go to the gym to LOOK good, not necessarily to gain strength or be healthy.

So it's not so unreasonable to ask for something like this, as the OP suggests, though maybe not exactly how he describes it.

The thing is... the gaming community, and even more so the fighting game community, is dominated by straight men. And that's why male sexuality isn't explored alot in games, though there have been some progression on that front in some genres, mostly the RPG genre. And that's because the game developers are recognizing that though the community is dominated by straight men, they aren't the only people part of the community and should therefore not be the only ones who should be catered to. That there are indeed women and gay men as well who would like to see something else than just big boobs and half-nude women.

Having some guy dress in a thong with a big flopping dick isn't the way to go about this, imo. And as I've said before in other threads, I would hate to see a character be created just to please a minority. However, that doesn't mean there can't be a bit male sexuality in the game.

Some Japanese fighting games, like Tekken and DOA as mentioned above, are doing a bit of catering with their skimpy beach wear costume DLCs for both male and female characters, so it's already a part of the fighting game community.

Thank God this will never happen in Mortal Kombat because:

A.) the game is created by lots of heteros.
B.) no one will take that shit seriously and will just see it as a joke.
C.) that's just fucking stupid.
D.) more straight men play MK than females and homosexuals.
E.) all of the above.
