Agree with this completely. If characters have weapons and shit, there's really no excuse for Quan Chi not to have it. It was one of the stand out pieces of artwork for me when Deadly Alliance was coming out.

It was obvious that QC would appear in this installment. What NRS has done is really switched things up into hi gear this time around. Yeah, DAT ENTRANCE!
I noticed many of the moves are upgraded from the last game (skull projectile, damage boost, teleport stomp, trance), as well as port-ality fun thrown in. He looks incredibly OP, and quite frankly i don't think i'll enjoy going up against him if he spams TP and trance as much as he did last time.
I didn't even watch the ending because i want to see it all new for the first time when i have the game, but what i saw looks so damn amazing.
PS Kano is now so hawt he gives me a semi just by walking in the character select screen

I think it would be best to start alternating with the vets and newbies instead of leaving all the new characters to be revealed last. But let's say it's 12 returning, 12 new-
Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Raiden
Quan Chi
Sonya(Highly Speculated)
Johnny(Highly Speculated)
Liu Kang (Highly Speculated)
Shinnok (Highly Speculated)
Reptile (Highly Speculated)
Ermac (Highly Speculated)
Fujin (Highly requested)
Tanya (Highly requested)
These might be our returning vets. I left Goro unlisted because he's DLC. Characters like Kitana, Ermac, Mileena ect will probably become DLC as well. Either way Kitana is making it in. She seems to be this game's Rain, as in there's a huge demand for her.

First of all, deep calming thoughts man. WB are playing a marketing game here. They're picking MK9 characters to reveal first because MK9 was their biggest seller. It's a no-brainer. Yes, as fans we want to see some rare fighters but casual gamers, the ones who are possibly going to make this game an equal in sales to MK9, don't really care about seeing them first, they want the faces they recognize.
I suspect we'll get a slew of MK9 characters, then some fresh new faces along with some MK4-MKA people, then they'll end strong leading up to release with bigger names like Kang, Blade, Cage, Tsung or whoever is left.
And again, as for 24 characters, there's always DLC and there's definitely always hidden/unlockable possibilities. Or it's also the fact we haven't even seen half the roster yet so needing to show off a bigger select screen now is pointless.
Give it time and enjoy the Chi.
Quan Chi looks better then ever. I really am impressed with his intro where he is riding some sort of undead ram into battle. The variations look absolutely amazing especially the Warlock variation. I thought the Summoner variation looked a little undercooked. To me it looks like the bat can be used a projectile. I wish they showed that off a little more and what else it can do.
So far every character is looking better then ever. Fantastic from NRS.

Finally. My favorite MK villain. He looks phenomenal. This costume should have been his MK2011 costume in my opinion, instead they just recycled his MKvsDC (which was just a subtle update of his Deadly Alliance). I also thought it was interesting how he enters on a demonic steed.

Returning characters.......
Goro, Raiden, Kano, Scorpion, Sub Zero, Quan Chi were all in MK9 were they not? Where is Tanya, Fujin, Havik, Bo Rai Cho, Reiko etc? Those are the reveals that would really excite me.
They could always have new characters as DLC like Skarlet was.
The trailer was awesome though. Not too hyped about the reveal since I figured Quan Chi would be in, but man he looks more badass than ever. For sure got a zoning vibe from his game play. Hope he still has that dirty rune trap. Still those portals look awesome and his trance move looked incredible. His intro was kinda meh though, who trots up to people on a skeleton goat and just says "fool"? its so random its hard to take it seriously. And his response to Kano was awkward sounding. Kano: "I've done worse" Quan: "Than you shall get my worstest!!! (worser than you've had, ever)"
One SLIGHT problem I had though was his new baby face. Since DA and MK9 Quan's face has had a much older, weathered look to it with a big pointy nose and high cheek bones. I would have guessed Quan right off the bat from Ed's face troll tweets but I didn't think they'd change the characters whole face up. He looks more like his MK4 face, which is cool too.

New characters as DLC wouldn't be a smart move. Most casual fans wouldn't care to spend however amount of money on a new character when they have all their established favorites already in the game. Skarlet I kinda understood as DLC because she was a rumored character that fans have talked about for over 20 years, but even with that I strongly feel Skarlet was the least bought. Incredible. I'm too happy with what they're doing with this game. Also, I couldn't read through all the pages but has anyone brought up what the producer/narrator said. That Quan Chi "built an army of revenants from the fallen Earthrealm warriors. Twisting their minds to fight on his behalf." So that confirms some of the dead warriors will be in, but evil. Nice.

You brought up a great point. Very little of the roster has been revealed so there's really no reason for them to show any more spaces anyway. Besides, if it was just 24, I have a strong feeling we'll be getting a huge amount of DLC warriors this time with the amount of favorites that might be cut. I'll try and keep an open mind now.

That'd be sweet, 'cause his bat just looks plain useless to me lol, especially when you pit it side-by-side with his kick-ass portal one.
Anyway, glad to see they finally gave Quan Chi a better look, and gave him more hellish themes this time around, like that demon horse he rode on to the battle. He looks like a true necromancer/sorcerer, and that fatality looks really painful.

Totally agree with what your saying, but since you are not the head of NRS's marketing team I don't take what you say seriously. Would Ermac sell like crazy for DLC? Hells yeah. Will NRS only have returning characters for DLC? Neither of us know and in the past they haven't. Skarlet was a blip of a rumored character, she was way more in the line of a "new" character than a long talked about secret. There was not a high demand for Skarlet before her release, unlike Tremor or even good old Hornbuckle. Quan Chi looks BADASS! His intro & Fatality !
HOWEVER, I am really surprised that you guys aren't discussing his HUGE role in MKX's story...
"Quan Chi has built an army of revenants from the fallen Earthrealm warriors - twisting their minds to fight on his behalf!"
This means that we might get an evil version of one of our fallen heroes as a playable character! Imagine a brutal and dark Kitana??? Finally some exciting news !

I hope its not the finalized screen, not just because of number of spaces, but it also just seems to be...lacking something. The versus poses on the select screen are nice I guess, but the character spaces themselves. This has been a common complaint from me over this game and MK9 as well. It's missing those backgrounds.
It's hard for me to be excited about Quan Chi because I'm a quarter past sick of him but he looks good. This is the first time he seems kind of dread and scary. And thank Moses he finally got a new outfit. I mean it was obvious he would but Jesus I was so sick of seeing his MKDA gear.
But like a necromancer that doesn't have a necromancer variation. How? Warlock and Sorcerer or so thematically similar. Not one dev caught that? He's summoning slightly larger than normal bats? That's so weird. I guess summoning an actual character/skeleton isn't doable but a spirit/ghoul something. And that horse? Is there PETA in the Netherrealm? So. Many. Questions.
I really want to praise the fatality but I'm sure it'll end with something complete ott and ruin the sadistic act of self impalement through the mouth.

I'm a big fan of Quan Chi, but somehow this look isn't doing it for me. I mean, I love this new outfit he's wearing, but the character model itself doesn't seem near as menacing as his MK9 appearance. I do like what I'm seeing, gameplay wise, though. Especially his Warlock variation looks like a lot of fun. His Demon variation looks awesome as well, although I am kinda disappointed that he seems to summon only one type of demon (the bat).
All in all it's a nice reveal, although I'm not really getting hyped about these 'old' characters. I'm glad he's back, but I'm more excited to see some new stuff.

For the last 3 reveals I ranged from meh (Kano) to not suprized (Raiden, Quan Chi). Don't get me wrong I like that they are back. There's still time but I want more non mk 1-3 characters. And I'd rather see nee characters. And way more females. Especially ones that are not similar to to others. Cassie is cool but is basicly Sonya and cage combo. I live the ninja and female ones like kit ana and Meleena I want more variety on type. Enough about, new characters. Returning I'd like to see all or some of these:
Sereena
Tanya
Fujin
Bo Rao Cho
Li Mei
Reiko

There was not a high demand for Skarlet before her release, unlike Tremor or even good old Hornbuckle. I swear whenever talk of the roster or dlc comes up everybody on MKO busts out their pretend marketing degrees lolz. All I'm saying is there's a fine chance of having some big leeway in the old "there are 12 returning characters and 12 new DO THE MATH AND PANIC ABOUT YOUR FAVORITES!!!11" argument.
Do we know if that's the finalized select screen even?
Where in the hell are you getting this wannabe "marketing degree" vibe from? I'm simply speculating- giving my opinion on what I personally think would be best. Never did I state for fact this WOULD happen or that I'm a marketing expert, so what's with the dick caught in the car door attitude? And your comment on Skarlet is exactly why I'm saying she probably was the least sold DLC character, nobody gave a shit about her when compared to the other three characters, actually, you're proving my point about new characters sucking as DLC by downplaying her rumor origin- I was just saying I might could see why that made her more fitting as DLC in her first ever debut than if she was say, on the level of a non-rumored newbie. No idea how that translated into "SKARLETZ WAS DE HIGHEST IN DEMANDZZZ!!!11"
And maybe you're right. Maybe this select screen isn't final and there's more spots. Maybe there will be new characters that will debut as DLC. Anything is possible. I was just simply stating what seems logical to me. No need to get sassy. Remove your hand from your hip.

Can we talk about the horse?
Because it's really intriguing me.
I mean...Quan Chi is not the kind of dude you typically imagine needs a mount to get around, and most of the environments he gets around IN don't require them either.
So either they're going ham on the Lord of the Rings-style swords-and-sorcery plot elements this time around...or somebody at NRS read one of my fanart threads and decided they really liked an idea I had a few months back to portray Shinnok's invasion like the biblical apocalypse with his generals in the roles of the Four Horsemen.
