I didn't omit anything. I picked the ones that were less revealing, to show they existed. I acknowledge that MKDA&D had many revealing outfits. Heck, I freaking mentioned the alternate costumes myself.

But AGAIN, there was a balance between more and less revealing costumes.

Some females must be sexual like MIleena or Jade, but others like Cassie, Sonya and such females shouldn't be.

All that ranting and bitching about her not wearing a t-shirt under the vest and the fact she was wearing heals is so minute and flat out nitpicky imo. Especially when the rest of her look was brilliant.

I don't think it was nitpicking at the way Sonya dressed. Firstly, the past outfits showed her wearing full body covering, or showing just belly or legs. The sudden change to flat-out cleavage was offputting. Secondly, someone in her occupation really WOULDN'T reveal that much cleavage. It's impractical (doesn't provide protection) and highlighted the 'impossiboobs' mechanic (where that much bazonga jiggling would really cause a strain on the back muscles, and those big melons would just fall out of the clothing) I think it was the MK3 outfit that even LOOKED like a sports bra.

I don't object to anyone wearing high heels, but the ones in MK9 were UNREALISTICALLY too high. You can make the counter argument that this is fantasy not reality, but i don't think it works well representatively of what MK is about. In life or death situations you would not want to totter around on tiny spikes, even if you could somehow stab someone with them (Skarlet's Xray).

I'm surprised that no one has chimed in on this yet, but this is 3D, people. We're real in with "polygons", not "pixels".

Anywho, I never knew MK9 was the best selling installment of all time. This is literally 1992-1993 all over again and the hype is real on this side.

I just wanna play it so damn bad!!

Polygons or not, the final image is still made of pixels. Like in 1080p you have 1920 x 1080 pixels. In UHD it's 8 million pixels, etc.

1-I'd like to remind you that "too gory" Fatalities was one of major complains around here. And Ed Boon also said that he wants to tone down the violence in the game. So I would reconsider the "gory as ever" statement.

Yet, MKX will have the most detailed Fatalities in the history of the series, which was evident from E3 demoes. So, something is amiss here.

lastfighter89 Wrote:
2-The women of Mk always wore with style, even in mk9. To be honest I find Cassie Cage outfit horrible and too similar to Nina Williams'.

There was barely any style in MK9. I can't consider two strips of fabric with some emblishments as "stylish nicely designed outfits". It goes against any semblance of taste I have. I am not talking about that they are ridicolous for the battle - it's par for the course in the fighting games.
Cassie is rather generic, but for the MK - she is a novelty and I am pretty sure her character will compensate for her design.

lastfighter89 Wrote:
3- Not all characters had the same build in Mk 9, that's just a pathetic whining based on nothing. People complained about the boobs and buns displaying but almost nobody noticed the difference between them, tough I recall a thread rating tits & asses on here

I'd say that almost nobody have noticed the difference, because there was barely any.
Also, so far I see pathetic whining only from people who love to fap on 3D boobies and try to cover it by saying stuff about "how MK push boundaries" and equally ridicolous stuff.
For those people I want to say that they shouldn't feel ashamed for their natural reaction, but at the same time they should stop pretending that there is a higher agenda or something.

lastfighter89 Wrote:
4- No it didn't work as you said before mk9. The characters in the 2D games had the same height and the outfit weren't so kinky just because no actress would have dressed that way.

I was not speaking about 2D games. They were rather basic, but stylish. In MKDA-MKA females have various styles and their outfits at least had more substance, than whatever MK9 could offer.

I think its quite completely opposite of celebrating female form. It's exploitation of female form. I hope I do not need to explain the difference, no? And how it's not doing any favor to men or women?
But with so many horny teenagers here...I am not even sure what to expect. tongue

If there really was any balance in the sexyness of costumes during the Mk5 and 6 era., then this forum wouldn't be so full of People complaining about them in 2002/04.

Shouldn't we wait before looking at the actual outfits before complaining? Kinda like how some Subby fans are complaining before even getting to know who this Sub Zero is...yeah that. Elementary.
Something tells me that the female outfits are gonna be great this time. Dunno why I have this feeling but I really do. Maybe because they seem to be listening to the fans, with the whole Sonyas-slutty-military-costume. Nobody told us that they are gonna dress them all in burqas. I think he mentioned "more realistic". Dressing each character accordingly, in a sense. Like Cassie would wear actual SF gear, Kitana would not dress as a slave-girl, Mileena would still dress revealing coz that's her schtick. You know staying true to the character, just not going overboard with the exposure just for the sake of it.

So I'm sure one of the things we are all thinking about most is the roster size; with so few character slots, it can leave us tense about the chances of old favorites returning. Many people are posting the Polygon interview as evidence that the game will ship with more than 24 characters, but I'm not so sure. So I've provided my arguments and counter-arguments.

First of all, all of the roster screens we've seen so far have had 24 slots. Roster screen designs change often before release, it's true, much like Deadly Alliance's did, however, never have I seen a MK character select screen change in NUMBER pre-release. It is almost always just shape/renders/order. Even MK9 and Injustice had the screens change only in order of characters. Plus why go to the effort to design the screen if you're going to design it with the wrong number of characters anyway? At E3 Boon said to mind the gaps between portraits but that could very very easily have been referring to DLC. One possible explanation is that the gaps add slots when you unlock characters but I highly doubt it.

Secondly, the interviewer doesn't quote Ed Boon directly in his article. He paraphrases and in my opinion that leaves too much room for misinterpretation. It's like the broken telephone/chinese whispers game. We have to rely on our interpration/the interviewer's communication, AS WELL AS his interpretation of Boon's comment. Now, another reason I doubt the interviewer is because of the wording. What have we been hearing almost constantly? That this game will feature at least the most new characters of any MK. What was in the Polygon article? That this game will have at least as many fighters of any MK. I truly believe the interviewer just misunderstood the comment Boon made. It seems like too big of a coincidence that these statements are virtually the same minus the word new. Plus in the same sentence, he states that MK9 had 30 fighters, which is not true, it had 27 without Kratos. Obviously fact-checking isn't the main concern.

Finally, the variations. Whilst I hate this line of reasoning, it's true that with competitive play and the variations, they might have stuck to a slightly smaller roster to maintain balancing and consider the work put into 75 variations as similar to 75 characters. I fully disagree, but it might happen.

All this just boils down to let's not get our hopes up. We might be stuck with 24 characters. And we might not see our favorites. But let's give it a little bit of time before we get happy/sad about the roster.

Instead, we should all focus on our mains and freak out about their inclusion. :P

As much as I would love for there to be a larger roster, im just happy we are getting new MK :) Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden are in there which is a plus for me. I also really like how Kotal Kahn is looking so really, even though I would like for there to be more characters, at this point I am fairly certain I will be satisfied with whatever is provided :)

Good points though, unless we actually hear Boon say it, we don't know what was said exactly and probably shouldn't quote what was said unless it was straight from Boon or another NRS employees mouth.

I believe it was confirmed in an interview that the roster would at be just as big as it was in MK9. So I'm not worried.

With 12 new kharacters, this game needs to.ship with minimum 28 so there's plenty of klassics there. U know how ppl r,too much new freaks them out n u cant just say well there's DLC,ppl bitch about that too. I love DLC,its great we get to add more to our games now n I hope they r far more aggressive this time cuz they were weak with dlc in mk9

This wasn't common knowledge? I caught this the very first day it was reported. I'm guessing 30 characters. I actually did some scaling of the gaps on the screen. There's about room for six more squares within the first two rows.

Every new little detail that emerges from these interviews, the more excited I get. It seems as though every decision being made, is made to blow MK9 out of the water. Obviously the three character variations are a huge deal, but they're hiring pro EVO players to give their input and make the game as balanced as can possibly be. That's going above and beyond the call of duty as far as I'm concerned. Even the little stuff like making the females dressed more modestly is another detail that's going to make the final product that much better.

Evo players being testers for mkx..... Yeah that could be good and bad. Good since i know those players understand what is and what isnt balanced for the most part, but im worried some will find some broken reset combo like Cyrax in mk9 or some other bullshit and keep it secret so they have advantage in tourneys. I hope that dont happen but i bet they will "miss" some thing.... They should just release a beta of mkx like few months before shipping and have the world be their testers for balance.

As a 32 year old married man with 4 kids, half nude video game characters don't do much for me, however, I'm getting a little concerned that the Evo crowd and hardcore fighting game community are pushing to essentially " cut the balls. " off of the MK series.

MK has always been about being over the top, and exciting to watch. I really hope that Boon and NRS don't start taking to much input from the Evo crowd or we are gonna start seeing heroic brutalities, truce-alities and Kittana in a fucking burqa.

Just because an aspect of the game doesn't add something to the competitive aspect of it doesn't mean it should be toned down or eliminated.

I like cinematic style attacks, I like story mode, I like fatalities, and I have no problem with seeing half of Sonya's boobs hanging out. ITS A VIDEOGAME.

Maybe I'm ranting, but hearing Maxamillion talk about how some of the fatalities are a little "too gory" , and then reading an interview where boon says they are toning things down because of feedback is worrying me.

It's fucking Mortal Kombat.

The Evo kids are only there to make sure the gameplay is balanced. Nothing more. They have no say on how to dress the characters.

The reason why the female clothing was mention from Ed is because everyone kept bitching about how the females looked in MK9.
Overall, the community agreed that Sonya's primary outfit did look out of place in that game. Then there's others that keep screaming "High heels! HOOKERS!"

The other women like Kitana and Jade...I think they were fine. They look royally exotic. I know Edenia was experienced before in MK games but I don't remember. But when I think of the word Edenia, I think of a beautiful exotic place. The atmosphere is beautiful and so as it's inhabitants.

The biggest joke is that MK has not been relevant in either gore or sex factor since well.... MK2?

Seriously, MKX is the only title what can moderately challenge some of the more gory games. Funny how MK managed to be the poster boy when it has cartoon violence up the wazoo.
