Mk is all about reaching the limits of decency and push through them. Mk is exaggeration in its purest form, the clothing of the females in the last few Mk games it's just part of the show. This could be the end of Mk as we know it and there's nothing good with it.

Preach! You're absolutely right. A woman doesn't have to be a slut to dress slutty. But there's just one thing...

These aren't women. These are video game characters. They're pixels on a screen.

Let that sink in.

The last couple games also had women that weren't designed to all look like beach babes. You had Mileena who was more seductively dressed, Ashrah who was covered, and Kitana who was in the middle.

It's all about balance. NRS tossed balance out of the window in MK9. Now they are simply going back to it. This is not going to be the end of MK. Especially not when the same game that gives us more regularly dressed women, also gives us an x-ray shot of testicles, literally getting busted.

When it comes to women being scantily clad in MK, I have no problem with it as long as the costume turns out nice. Personally Mileena's MKD outfits are among my faves. However MK9 outfits for the females weren't bad necessarily because they showed too much skin, they were just horrible, at least IMO.

Their costumes gave the impression that the team was solely fixated on getting the girls to show skin while quality of the outfits took a backseat of a car no one was even driving...

I don't think they should take out the revealing outfits completely, but please, subtlety and substance.

I understand the clothing of women is a heavily debated topic, but can we discuss the other stuff noted in that interview?

I think some people love 3D girls too much.

Excess could be done tastefully. In pre-MK9 MK games there was some balance, in MK9 there were none. Not only all females had the same built of pornactresses - not fighters, but costumes of ninja-girls mostly were unimaginative strips of fabrics here and there.

It is not about feminism, female power and the like. It's about taste, design and style. In MK9 female outfits were ridicolous. You can say whatever excuse for that - that its alternate world and the like, but it doesn't excuse how poor those designs were. Sonya primary outfit especially was jarring, because of lack of balance. It was as if man in millitary outfit wore shorts, with millitary boots and bullet proof vest. It would have been equally ridicolous.

Soul Calibur is equally ridicilous and jarring sometimes, but its japanese game, with long history of ridicolous, sometimes out of place fanservice. It's not reason to turn MK into something like it.

Cry havoc and unleash the dogs of war!!
Fatalities are as gory as ever, even more so. Suddenly females will be proabaly dressed with style and they will not have the same build. THE END OF MORTAL KOMBAT!! No, seriously, way to overreact. Especially, since it was how MK was before MK9.

Meaning they didn't want to reinvent the wheel too much and make it unrecognizable from MK9. That would be foolish considering the immense positive reaction MK9 got. So the trick is to keep those same basic elements while also breathing new life into the game with new characters, new features ect.

NRS didn't you say that your last game sold the most...?

why the conformity now? Bear in mind, some places in the world, females have to be covered up head to toe, they need not be wearing bikinis to be labeled as sluts, just the mere sight of their hair is considered slutty.

Is this what we want in MK? I know its a game, but to me it was a game with guts and didn't take shit from anyone...fear is unbecoming of you NRS sad

I don't want to sound rude, but you really need a reality check about the females outfits in Mk5 and Deception. Excluding Ashrah's primary costume, all the women in both games wore revealing attires. Mileena appeared half naked in Playboy with Sais covering her nipples, Jade looked like an arabian belly dancer ready to sleep with the sultan himself. The whining about female clothing begun during Deadly Alliance's production.
And it seems that their costume bothers only Mk fans. Soul Calibur And Dead or Alive fans never complained too much about bouncing boobs.

PS: I will believe Cassie Cage' s ball buster X-ray move only when I'll see with my own eyes.

1-I'd like to remind you that "too gory" Fatalities was one of major complains around here. And Ed Boon also said that he wants to tone down the violence in the game. So I would reconsider the "gory as ever" statement.

2-The women of Mk always wore with style, even in mk9. To be honest I find Cassie Cage outfit horrible and too similar to Nina Williams'.

3- Not all characters had the same build in Mk 9, that's just a pathetic whining based on nothing. People complained about the boobs and buns displaying but almost nobody noticed the difference between them, tough I recall a thread rating tits & asses on here

4- No it didn't work as you said before mk9. The characters in the 2D games had the same height and the outfit weren't so kinky just because no actress would have dressed that way.

My final vote:

Increase the gore, celebrate the female form like they did MK9, move the story forward, no motaro.

My reality is just fine.

So, while the body proportions are not the greatest, but still acceptable, since Deadly Alliance and Deception were completely cartoony, at least some of the costumes are better designed than they were in MK9. Even with the occasional cleavage showing, like in Li Mei's case, the costumes as a whole are better designed.

And while each of those women might still have had alternate costume designs, that were undoubtedly tons more skimpy, at least they offered you a choice.

Again, there was balance. In MK9, there was none.

Actually, if anything, she looks more like Jill Valentine. And that's absolutely fine in my book. Better than a Military Halloween costume.

Funny thing is that you deliberately omitted some of the more revealing outfits like both Jade and Milena costumes in Deception or Frost alternate in Deadly Alliance. Heck, even Ashrah alternate costume is a little too bitchy.
I roam these forums since Mk Deception and the wearings of females is a long date complaining since teen.

About costume designs in Mk9, I think it's just a matter of opinions and tastes. For me Mk9 had the best costume design in the whole saga, followed by Shaolin Monks.
