No one, they all have their fans. If anything the roster itself is wasted...could've been bigger.

It pains me to see Sonya so high on that list. You'll never see that treatment on Street Fighter's first lady, Chun Li.

When the competitive players make noise with these waste of space characters watch everyone change their tune.

None of them were necessary at this point. There is a huge roster of underdeveloped exciting and unique characters in the MK universe, why do we need some of these people yet AGAIN? Johnny seems almost reinvented and Kung Lao has some nice changes, so I am fine with them. But the rest above should have sat this out from the PLAYABLE ROSTER. Like Sonya, this is probably the worst she has ever looked from a gameplay standpoint.

Jacqui very bland and boring, bland as hell design wise. Nothing unique. Jin has some cool bow and arrow moves but again, very much the same as Jacqui. I was going to put Takeda as well, because while I love his whips, I think his design is so uninspired and boring much like the rest of the new kids. But I will give him a pass.
And all guest characters of course. That's a given.

I can see how jax is up there cuz he died too but he looks so damn cool in this game.

Should have had; tanya, smoke, rain, reiko, Noob and fujin.

Would have made for much more diversity and more interesting charcaters in the roster. Then had either Kung, Liu or kitana as klassic DLC.

I voted for Sonya solely based on her game play alone she is the OG MK female I can't hate on her too much.

She basically has one usable variation it seems Demolition and Special Forces are mediocre as fuck and look sub-par compared to Covert Ops.

Diversity? You want three additional ninjas on top of those that are already there hardly making the game more diverse

Who are the ninjas you are referring to exactly? Reptile and ermac are no where ninjas anymore they couldn't be more different from their original palette swap origins. Even rain has changed so much over the past few games he is more prince of Persia style now then a ninja. The only real ninjas left are scorpion, sub, smoke and Noob and even they are all so different and unique in design and moves they can't be classed as the same charcater. The ninjas are iconic to Mk but they are long gone now chopped and changed and each of them are their own unique charcater now you can't keep referring to them as ninjas anymore

discard a family member in the roster those are the wasted spaces for me

Though I have to say I am torn with Johnny. I've never liked him before, but MKX is givin me the feels for him.

I don't like most of the new ones. Jacqui, Cassie, Takeda, Kung Jin...

mmm... dunno if "wasted" is the word. This game seems like the last time we'll see a few of them though. Based on what it looks like they're doing right now...

1.) - the Cage family was necessary. But JC and Sonya could be gone after this game.

2.) - The Liu Kang/Raiden thing is pivotal. Meaning it could be put to rest or continued.

3.) - I dunno why Kun Lao is there.

4.) - Kung Jin seems useful but I don't have him figured out yet either.

5.) - Jackie could prove to be useful still. While Jax could probably have stayed dead.

6.) - Kitana doesn't really seem to need to be there, while Mileena does.

7.) - Raiden is also pivotal depending on what actually happens next.

8.) - Fujin is similar, but hasn't really been exposed in good light yet, so he should likely stick around.

9.) - Kano could probably die, but won't.

10.) - Same for Reptile who still seems to be stuck in the henchmen role.

11.) - Goro could be gone after this game considering what happened to him in the comics.

12.) Kotal Kahn seems like a one trick pony with a tiny potential to be Earth's ally in the end. He has some history with Earth so I could see him sticking around.

13.) Quan Chi will get away again.

14.) Shinnok will probably get away again. But he seems more likely to go back into getting trapped for another eternity.

eh...that's 14 of them. Like I said, I dunno if wasted is the term. Most of them seem useful in distancing us from the old timeline, and producing something really new with the next game.

Kano. Plus the whole new Family Matters theme in this new Mortal Kombat they are going for is corny as F.

Why is Fujin on your list of wasted roster spots when he's not on the roster? Unless you know something we don't...

As long as a character has a role in the story, their roster spot isn't a waste. Period. Obviously, this doesn't apply to the 2 guest characters.

Absolutely nothing? I find that hard to believe.

As a example ferra torr are seen once in the story and u fight them with blah blah blah and that's it. They are not in the game anymore. Well u fight several same npc more than once. Also goro is on the disk and he is also not heard from at all.

Ok. For all intents and purposes, Goro is dead, or armless in story mode, so his absence is acceptable. Ferra/Torr, no matter how slight does make an appearance in story mode, so their spot isn't wasted.
