Shinnok and Raiden intro dialogue confirmed?

It does sound lame because it's not the most original thing, but gameplay wise it sounds awesome especially if he can incorporate some of his opponent's signature moves into his own combos. Ironically it would be one of the most diverse variations since it could completely change the way you play him depending on the moves that you get from your opponent.

Minion, I'm right there with you regarding Shinnok.

I've missed him since Armageddon, and I'm glad as all hell to have a magical zoning character. Seeing as we know most of the cast by now, it's looking like he'll be my main. I can't wait to fluster opponents with fireball juggles and stolen moves again.

But besides his Shang Tsung-esque moves, I can't wait to see what else he brings to the table. I hope he has a lot of nasty lil' tricks.

Can't wait to play as Shinnok. One of those characters that had so much potential that was never fully realized. MK4 & MKA never did him justice. This is his time (finally) in MKX.

He needs to have his Netherealm Giant Hand Fatality.

Obviously, I'm amazed, excited, hyped as fuck.

Shinnok's been my favorite character since MK4 and MK4 was my first Mortal Kombat ever, so he'll be #1 in my book forever, perhaps my favorite video game character of all time. Because of it and the route the MK4 story took, I have a long love/hate thought of Quan Chi. He's badass, sure, but Shinnok would still be better, and I think Shinnok was designed poorly in MK4 in mentality terms. He wasn't as wise, smart and quick-witted as an former Elder God should be, and the fact that he couldn't recognize a fake of the amulet he forged himself made him seem really stupid instead of making Quan Chi clever, IMO.

He was kind of a pain to play as in MK Armageddon because he had only ONE combo in his unarmed fighting style, and his Amulet Staff, although pretty cool, felt like it shouldn't do the moves it did. His special moves were really fun though, and gave him more personality, which I've always believed he had. Still, I never gave up on him and his portrayal in Konquest Mode showed me that NRS didn't give up on him either.

I was already stoked that he would be in MKX, and to know that I'll be able to play as him again, and that he got such a great revamp and a chance to shine like he deserved, makes me feel like this is the best MK game for years and years to come.

And, OP, MINION. Yeah, you. We may have very similar avatars and signatures real soon. confused tongue

There ́s lots of things to do narrative wise with Shinnok, my question at this point is if Shinnok would only be a predominant part of the first act of the story or if all this will make him grow as a character right into the last chunk of the story mode

How can it not be, Shinnok is character loved by many of us.

I would say Shinnok and Fujin are the most underrated characters in the entire Mortal Kombat series. These two characters have immense potential and are some of the most unique characters.

Shinnok looks FLAWLESS in MKX. Behind Kitana, Shinnok has been my favorite reveal for MKX. I am really excited to see his variations and special moves. My god imagine how epic his specials can be with the technology behind MKX :O. I have faith that NRS have came up with badass variations for Lord Shinnok.

If Fujin makes it into MKX, this game will be complete.

He's in the screenshot with Raiden. And he looks rejuvenated in his design principles. So I would definitely say if not a default roster lock definitely dlc. He's a god after all and a big deal to the NR invasion. He'll be in eventually!

Thanks everyone for keeping this going! I'll be posting a lot here on my thoughts of shinnok in mkx once I get story mode completed allowing me hands on time!

Shinnok was my second-most anticipated non-MK9 character for this game, so I'm very happy that he's finally playable again after all these years.

I hope Shinnok has his signature giant hands in at least one of his variations, because Imposter doesn't sound like it would suit my play style.

Also, congrats to MINION and other Shinnok mainers!

Fatality idea (one I made back in 2008-9ish):

Similar to his MK4 fatality, Shinnok opens a portal and a giant skeletal hand comes through. The hand grabs the opponent and drags the opponent by the legs through it, all while the opponent screams no. The opponent goes through the portal and the portal closes. You hear a blood gurgling scream from the opponent which gets cut halfway( sort if like the trailer prior to the Ermac reveal stream where you just heard the scream, but didn't see it). A portal opens up above Shinnok and chunks of blood and body parts rain down. FATALITY...SHINNOK WINS! glasses

I agree on the "I hope Shinnok has his signature giant hands"

I always liked that about Shinnok, They are soo freaking badass, but imposter seems to be great too. I get what they are trying to do with the imposter variation and I'm looking forward to it :).

I'm just wondering though.

Let's assume that the second variation will involve his giant skeleton hands, and we already know the first variation is about his mimicking abilities.

Then what is the third variation? Is it going to involve the amulet? :O. I fucking hope so!

I'm happy he made it in, he was my top choice for post-Trilogy inclusion. I find him the most INTRIGUING and compelling of the sorcerers. My gripe has always been his looks and somewhat goofy hat, but MKX Shinnok transcends gripe. He looks ominous, mysterious and powerful.

Can't wait to see him in action, with some bitchin' Skeleton Hands specials!

Oh my days!!! somebody wrote an alternative synonym to that dreadful adjective. I think I'm gonna faint...

Anyways, I'm still curious towards the whole Shinnok having red lighting. Please hope that's true. Please re-enforce the whole anti-raiden concept. If not then Boon you suck!!! confused

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Imposter is a cool variation. It just wouldn't suit me personally; I found Shang incredibly difficult to play as in the last game.

Wow, that Amulet variation idea sounds really amazing! If it looks anything like the lasers in Kano's cybernetic variation it might just become my go-to variation. I hope we get Shinnok's variations ASAP.

@James_Sunderland: That sounds like a mixture of Shinnok's MK4 fatality and one of Quan Chi's MKX brutalities. In other words, awesome. :)

Really, really glad Shinnok made it in. He's definitely going to be my main if Fujin isn't in. He was my #2 to make it in MKX so i'm very fucking happy he's in.

I really liked his MK4 and MKA costume, so I hope he has both in MKX.

Yeah I understand what you mean when you say that it doesn't suit you, it's all about preference :). That's the reason I am happy we have 3 versions of each character. You might find one variation that you hate but another that you really like.

I also hope we will get Shinnok's variations with a trailer soon, I mean I hope it'll be in a cool trailer or maybe a stream. I just hope we get to see him soon.

But I'm just wondering, What in the hell his imposter variation is going to involve, I know they are not going to put all the moves there. But I was thinking, Since characters like Kabal,Smoke,Nightwolf might not make it in, it would be real cool for Shinnok to preform some of their moves. It would make sense gameplay wise and story wise. So I don't see why not :).

I don't think Shinnok (or any one character for that matter) should have all the absent characters' moves. There'd be no thematic connection. And I think there would be too many variation-specific moves in Shinnok's case even if only one special per absent character were given to him.
But I'd be cool with giving the CPU/boss version of him some extra moves for the difficulty/intimidating factor. (The Shao Kahn shoulder charge in particular is going to be a pain when I fight against Shinnok, I can already tell that for sure.)

Shinnok is a beast. Easily my favorite "god" character, with Fujin following in second. MK4 shamed him, and MKA introduced some much needed specials unique to his character.

MINION Wrote:

You know, I had thought about that too. Considering how much they're amping him up as this all powerful being (as he should be!), I had the thought that the staff was really nothing more than a "crutch" for him. Since he was in a severely weakened state in previous games.

But now he's at full strength, and more powerful than ever. Plus, I'm sure he wants to keep that amulet on his person, instead of having it in a staff that could easily be misplaced or stolen. tongue

His Skele-hand specials are a must! Would also love to see a new iteration of one of his MK4 fatalities, but I can make due if they limit those hands to specials and give rise to some even more creative fatalities for him. OH!! If he does have those Skele-hands as specials, you can bet your ass that they'll combo into a Brutality. Perhaps in more ways than one. Bam! Nostalgia ftw.

Sadly, most of these were given to Quan Chi, but it doesn't mean we can't get a variation based on portals and Skeleton hands by Shinnok. Well, whatever it is they have planned for him, I'm sure it'll be good.

And yeah, #TeamShinnok! confused
