There's a difference between a bloody and a violent game. DOA4 and Tekken 6 are more violent than MK fightingwise( Brutal throws, intense and painful looking fights) MK games are bloody but the fights are not that violent.

Violence don't come from the blood, it comes from the acts.

To make a really violent and disturbing MK game they need to tone down the blood(it felt more than a joke than anything else on the previous MK games). The fatalities need to be very realistic and painful looking. No funny stuf. The fatalised one must scream of pain and terror.

Well, by that logic, not even Tekken is all that violent because there would be some amount of blood or bruising, from strikes/kicks or throws. Which it doesn't have. Blood and bruising fall in the realm of cosmetics and can easily be used in the game, without hindering gameplay.

Also, I don't think MK is violent. More "cartoon" violence than anything. But the series could definitely use less blood, than it's used to.

MK9 is going to be alot more serious and what _JRF_ said, Violant.

Im hoping they take it to the most highest level of realism. Hardly any blood at all in the fights, maybe a cut or bloody nose or lip, but NO blood gushing all over the floor. Then when Fatality time comes, make it highly detailed and sound effects be realistic, and like if they remove there head, have blood spirting out, and the body switching. So realistic its kreppy. Thats what I want.

MK is already violent IMO but the impact of the violence should be greater. Making it more realistic would increase the impact.

On another note@JRF & KornKombat

Do you guys have a feeling that this game is going to be 3D like the last games or more like MK4 and SF4?

I haven't seen gameplay footage yet but, I believe they might be using EMotion FX which is a realtime character animation system that can be applied to Unreal 3's 3D Engine, and I believe this is what Ed Boon means on his Twitter. This will mean a style game simular to MKvsDC, but look way better, and better gameplay. When I say EMotion FX Im meaning a new updated version of it, as I know there are 3 versions maybe more.

I think that after all of the insults hurled at people before MKvsDC was formally announced (and I was one of those people doing the hurling), I'm more or less taking a wait and see approach.

If people have info, and I know from being on these boards for several years now who's developed a reputation for reliability and who's full of it, then I'll listen.

It seems like some people get a little bent out of shape over this stuff and I agree, it can be annoying when someone with 2 posts comes on here, saying that they're Ed Boon's cousin on his mother's side twice removed and he knows for a fact that Zebron will be the main villain of the next game.

But by now, most of us can smell BS pretty well and if anything, it's fun to try and separate the real news from the garbage. I'm taking the attitude that I'll try not to jump down someone's throat everytime what they say doesn't come to pass, just like I'm not going to rush to commend someone for piggybacking off of someone else's info.

So just relax, share some real info if you've got it and everyone else just stay tuned.

but will it be on a 2d gameplay plane, like sf4??? because mk vs dc was 2.5d but it had the side step, so thats more of a 3d game to me, just like mk4.

The EMotion FX is old tech, and I doubt this is the what Boon was referring to.

i remember reading that a new version was just released and edited specifically to/for the WB and it was dated 2010. i stated that in the other post as well that it could be for anything other than MK9. i do know the EMotion FX tech works really well with Maya and that is what they used on classic MK games i believe. not saying its for MK at all just throwing it out there that its possible. not unless i read what i read wrong and it could be a similar setup to the engine or a beefed up clone of the engine? they could be using the new tech for movies too so i dunno...i just saw it and thought i would post it because it stated it was for WB.(Edit: also Korn stated it can be used with UE3...which is correct and it can be used with other engines aswell. i stated the EMotion FX was a game engine accidentally lol. ty for the correction Korn)

Boon answered my question told me the game will be VERY VERY different from mk vs dc, so that puts to bed the comparisons to the last game.
I think we are going 2d gameplay (no sidestepping) old school mk style, with a 3d mode for visuals(glasses and tv)
I expect tons of 3D games at e3 By the way its going to have a LOT of blood and I mean a LOT.

Fatalities aside MK is still more violent. The characters get hit by bombs, stabbed, slashed, and shot at. All of those things hurt more than being punched, kicked, or thrown.

Cyberdog, 3d mode is not a smart idea, as the US economy is in poor condition. So far, only the PS3 can be updated by firmware this summer, and you will still need a 3d approved TV running at 240hz.

Please keep your speculation to yourself when posting in the "MK Facts" thread

Too many things are going into 3D. Movies are going into 3d way too much and I have no idea what is so big about this. Games should not be in 3D... I'll just be waiting to see on Yahoo of an article claiming that 3D games are causing severe headaches or whatnot. Games don't need to be 3D whatsoever.

A 3D anaglyph mode would be cool. It would just be a novelty and people would probably play it a couple of times and then go back to playing it in normal mode, but it would still be a cool addition.
