"Not nearly as disgusting as German adult movies."

:( Some movies are really good. For example "Das Experiment". One of the best movies i have seen so far. Now back to topic.

I'm also german and i love the trademark fatality and the gore level in MK. And no, there are enough MK fans here in germany. Even in magazines like Gamepro. Kai Schmidt is a huge MK fan and write previous about almost every MK game.

Look at the negative response in the comment or how many dislikes they have. Do i Need to say more? :D

I dunno if this has been mentioned or not because I didn't read this whole thread yet(oops), but as far as who this Sub-Zero is, when it comes to this one hating the Shirai-Ryu (assuming he's a new one and potentially more in the future), it's always possible that he could've been a kid during the Shirai Ryu's final hours.

This would not only mean that he'd know they existed as the Lin Kuei's rival, but growing up and being taught that hatred at a young age can manifest into even greater hatred, making him hate the Shirai Ryu potentially to the extent that Scorpion hates the Lin Kuei.

Now if it's one of the old Zero's, and this is an odd theory, but when I heard the intro between Scorpion & Sub, specifically when Sub said 'I tire of maintaining our innocence', I had the idea that maybe Bi Han & Kuai Liang fused and share one body?

...now I'm sure 'our' just means Lin Kuei but hell, Mortal Kombat is weird and anything is possible. I mean Noob Saibot has the body, Cyber Sub has the powers, add a little Chemical X and yeah.

But yeah mostly the first part.

Don't tell me you have seen any German adult movies grin

I think those two guys from PC Games did not like the game even before
they knew it actually exists. There is no constructive criticism at all and
they do not sound like "professionals".

They should really only speak for themselves...

I'm pretty sure I remember Kuai Liang being a bit of an asshole in MK9's Story Mode.. Besides, guy was captured, turned into a walking freezer, killed, resurrected as undead etc. al. All that shit's gotta do bad stuff to ya.

I was talking about German adult (porn) movies.

Das Experiment is great. So is Das Boot and Run, Lola, Run. And btw I absolutely love German techno music - Scooter ftw!

I've seen a couple of scenes. Just can't sit through the whole thing. *vomits Bo Rai Cho style*

Why would a new Sub-Zero know what the Shirai Ryu is?

The Sub-Zeros are a family, their dad only had two boys.

So if he's a new one, like somebody's son from the future, then he wouldn't have been around before Scorpion's clan ceased to exist.

He's gotta be Bi-Han, Kuai (who this line is out of character for), or someone from the past like their fucking father.

The other, more likely possibility, of course, is that the writers are being retarded again.

Couldn't have said it better myself

From the dialogue, I am actually going to go out on a limb here and say that the Shirai Ryu is now back. 25 years(potentially) is a long time. I have no idea how and by whom, with these timeline placements and the whole element of time travel within MK9.
I really do hope we see the return of the Shirai Ryu. I KNOW so many people hate the concept of what Frost was and I agree that so many more interesting characters can be introduced.... but...

I want a female Shirai Ryu. I want one so god damn bad.

Actually a female Shirai Ryu would differ a lot in gameplay from Scorpion. If you take into account that Scorpion gained his powers after he became a wraith, a female from his clan would play totally different from him. Granted she was human of course. It would not be like Frost since she was a human cryomancer exactly like Sub Zero, so I wouldn't mind it to be honest. It would be a nice twist in Scorpion's story which has undoubtedly become stale lately.

To be fair, I think there was some intentional irony lost in translation. Tons of people from Germany and the EU play Injustice/MK so clearly this idea that the game only has appeal in America is untrue. The problem isn't that they don't like MK; diff'rent strokes for different folks. However, a legitimate problem is that gaming media outlets continue to get non-fighting game players to talk about fighting games. This is okay in a lot of genres, but when your "journalists" sound like idiots because they don't get fighting games, it's a problem.

I'm not American and I don't play MK because of the fatalities. This franchise has many redeeming qualities - some cool characters, addictive story, crazy mini games, etc. I like fatalities as much as the next guy, but they are not in my Top 5 list of all things that make me like MK.

On the other hand, it's kinda sad that most American journalists, as it seems, tend to associate MK only with its gore and finishing moves. Heck, recently, GameSpot published a dedicated fatality compilation with E3 footage. Just listen to ALL interviews with Boon - 5 out of 10 questions are fatality related. It makes MK look stupid and shallow.

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but many MK fans, mainly from the States, hated the idea behind MKvsDC because, back then, for a month or so, the game was supposed to lack finishers.

So, my point is - would you still buy a "fatality-free" MK? I know I would! Is the lack of finishers a deal breaker for you? And where are you from? I think that maybe, just MAYBE, fatalities ARE a major selling point for the American market.

Hm.. i started with MK2. And fatalities were the Trademark of MK. But i didn't played MK only because of this. I loved the atmosphere in MK2. The creepy characters like Baraka. But finishers are in my top5 list.

In nowadays MK is much morethan only the finishers. Nice Combo System, smooth gameplay, amazing grafik. But what happens if fatalities were not implemented in a next MK? I think i would buy it. But fatalities are a trademarkl and always be. It's just iconic.

I think they all know MK is a deeper game than they portray it to be. But violence sells. GameSpot's fatality montage video has a ton more views than any of their gameplay videos. They're really just trying to appeal to their audience.
