PRESENTING KOMBAT PACK 2; 4 NEW CHARACTERS

BARAKA WITH AN XENOMORPH SKIN

FARTS

NON-CANON ROBOT

& LEATHERFACE "Everyone's favorite character!" "Please watch our upcoming movie" PRODUCT PLACEMENT.

AND YOU LOVED THE 4 SKIN PACKS FROM KOMBAT PACK 1 SO HERE COMES:

3 NEW SKINS & 12 SKINS YOU ALREADY OWN.

... AND JUST THROW GORO IN THERE TOO. WHO CARES?

30 BUCKS PLEASE.
I'm definitely not buying this pack. It's 3 skin packs less than the first one. Bo Rai Cho's design is just garbage: He looks like a placeholder. And Leatherface is only there because WB is trying desperately to make TCSM into a big franchise even though every movie after the original was garbage.

100% hyped for Alien, Tri and Bo. Leather face can fuck off. Pit looks glorious, hopefully that's not all the skin packs but hey ho.

THIS.

Bo' Rai Cho looks nimble for a fat bloke, but still funny and an important character story-wise.
Tri-Borg actually is the mash-up most of us wanted. Go MK Combot!
Alien's prehensile tail intrigues me, looks very cool to use. Sick as fuck fatalities to be expected.
Leatherf.... really?!?!

Here's the inherent problem with guests: Having a guest or two suggests cross-franchise teamwork. Where one franchise approves so much of another they let that other include their property, and vice versa the other gains approval from not just the franchise but their fans too. However, having THIS MANY guests all from HORROR MOVIES clusterfuck up the roster of an MK game tells me that NRS doesn't have enough faith in their own creations to hold up to scrutiny, when in fact the converse should be true. This is the game they should be proudest of.

Including skins that were previously available is very cheap. Fortunately I was able to warn my friend who was wanting to buy the Kold War pack to hold off until KP2 because he intends to purchase it. I was also pleased to tell him about the 'Apokalypse' pack, but less pleased by far to announce that shitty Brazil pack was also included. He and I both agree it's terribad and he really didn't want it.

Neither. I was talking about my friend who has Xbone.

I only have the app version. I was let down badly by NRS's decision to can previous-gen release. Doesn't prevent me from having an opinion as a fan, though.

Had a conversation earlier with the friend i mentioned previously, and we got to talking MK. N.B. he isn't a huge superfan like us.

He liked Jason and Predator, but can't understand why they are now releasing more guests, especially guests that seem like carbon copies of the first lot. Jason = psycho killer, Leatherface = psycho killer. Predator = killer alien, Xenomorph = killer alien.

He said to me why not include the characters that you fight in the story mode, like Sindel, Rain and Baraka. That would make more sense.

I must reiterate that these are the words of a CASUAL. The logic speaks for itself.

I've spoken with several casuals who feel the same. All of these guests were not necessary. Jason and Predator? Cool. Leave it at that. KP2 should've been Fujin, Baraka, Sindel, Bo, Li Mei, and Rain as a free update. Fujin is the most requested character. Baraka is an iconic legacy character. Sindel has a decent enough fanbase (When I went to pre-order this game I remember the clerk was randomly gushing to me about how much she loves Sindel and hopes she makes it in, poor girl). Li Mei is probably tied with Sareena and Frost as being the most demanded 3D era female after Tanya. And Rain, well, Rain is Rain, he's a ninja with an extremely loud hardcore fanbase and getting him free or at a discounted price would seal the deal. Bo would be more at home with these guys than the likes of Alien and Leatherface.

If that was the KP2 we would've gotten, I would be very satisfied with MKX.

Hilarious.

That being said I still find Leatherface's inclusion odd because WB doesn't own the TCM films, Lionsgate does and while a new movie filmed last year and is indeed in post-production- it still doesn't have a release date as of now. So if Leatherface was put in MKX to promote the upcoming film it's pretty sloppy.

People don't seem to understand that you don't need variations to have a character be 'defensive', 'zoning' or whatever category you make up. You can have all in one!

No. You can't.

People who have this opinion that NRS should have combined the Variations rather than splitting them up into playstyles are completely missing the point. In class-based games, a Tank character that can also heal like a Support character would be insanely broken. That's not how games are designed. Game's are designed with intentional rules and limitations in order to try to keep the experience as fair as possible for all players involved. That's why you can't pick up a soccer ball or hockey puck and charge into the goal. That's why you can't punch out every player in a basketball game that tries to guard you.

If you think Chess would be better if Pawns could move like Bishops and Rooks, then there's little anyone can do to help you.

Really though. You know what you get with a character that has good defense, zoning, and rushdown? You end up with Kabal. No one in MKX comes close to that, and variations do a good job balancing that aspect. Not to mention that it allows players who prefer a certain type of playstyle to have that playstyle available to them as opposed to picking a completely different character that you may not like as much because they fit your playstyle better.

Injustice is a great example of the Variation system's benefit. When I first bought the game I wanted to main Shazam. But when I started learning the character I quickly found out that he was a grappling and command throw character, which is basically a deal breaker for me. That playstyle just doesn't work for me so I was left picking a new main.

Let me say that it is NOT a bad thing or poor design that Shazam was a command throw character. It's just not a class of fighting game character that works for me personally. I quickly landed on Nightwing and never looked back so it's all good, but if Shazam was in MKX then he likely would have had a Variation that would have been more friendly to my style of play.

I know this is all way off topic so I'll chill, but don't knock the Variation system if the "Game" aspect of the videogame isn't why you bought it.

The variation system was introduced to improved the match-ups.
You know, you lose a match, just switch variation without changing the character. Clever.
