Hell, in Def Jam: Fight for NY. They just grabbed random white people and throw them in that game, probably for the sake of people not to bitch about a game that has a majority of nonwhites in it. But again, what the fuck do you expect from a game that has rappers in it? Oh well, there's a create your own character feature if you're dying to make Eminem.

Bubba Sparxxx is in that game. A white rapper who has never associated with Def Jam.
But, to be fair. There were also nonwhite rappers that has never associated with Def Jam that got thrown in that game too.

The creators could make the rest of the entire cast nonwhite if they wanted to. They have that much control.

A game like Def Jam on the other hand, is very limited unless you want to throw irrelevant people in the game which is exactly what happen.

The race majority in MK is not white, not even close. This whole debate is silly when you really look at the race breakdown. It's dominantly Asian, as it should be. But there is a fair representation of blacks, so this topic is moot.

I never care what color characters are in video games. When a company creates a game, it is totally up to the artists to express their art any way they want to. Some of you need to relax and not be so high-strung.

In all seriousness, I'd really like to see Kai make a comeback. He had a completely different fighting style than any one else.... and at one point Raiden even gave him his staff and made him Protector of Earth... With the reboot that storyline has been retconned but with NRS making every character look badass I would like to see what they could come up with for Kai!

To answer the OP The developer put's who they want in that's why. If less people buy there product and state that's the reason why then there could be a change. This game will sell more than MK9 though.

Just saying. If arguments about race can be brought up pertaining to Mortal Kombat, they can be brought up about any game in the known fuckin universe, and usually for selfish or self-serving reasons.

You could realistically question the creation of any character ever made for racial purposes. Why isn't Lara Croft black or Indian or Asian. Why is Snake from MGS white? Why not Swahili or Nepalese or Estonian? The ultimate answer here is who gives a shit! If the creators of a game want to put a person of a certain race/creed/color/religion into a game, it's entirely up to them. They should not feel pressured into having some kind of quota when it comes to character design. This whole race argument is bullshit and it really gets on my fuckin nerves. There is no right or wrong answer. It just "is".
