I'm seriously debating on getting this supposed kombat pack 2 if it turns out to be nothing but the fucking story pack hinted at earlier on. I am an admitted sheep when it comes to this series, but I just can't get on board with Sindel, Rain, and Baraka.

I should just accept it as its undoubtedly what's best for dlc sales, but after an entire roster of MK9 holdovers, I want some variety.

I also believe a character will never be free in in this day and age. But the story mode fillers could at least be "bargain" priced. They're essentially halfway done already. Also, if Boon brings back Freddy, he should also be bargain priced.

While I think bargain pricing is more likely, I don't think the characters are half done.

They each have: a model, a costume, a barebones moveset, some animations in need of an update, and a few voice lines done

They are each missing: more voice acting, variations and all the moves and visuals that go with them, intros, outros, fatalities, brutalities, an arcade ending, a good few idle animations would need to be added, and the characters would need to be properly made to use finishing moves on, and would have to be properly balanced (which only gets harder with more characters).

I think it would be very nearly creating a new character.

I also think that if we get a kombat pack 2 the only gurantee is Fujin. He was second most asked after Tanya. As for the other 3 slots, hell if I know, but after what NRS did with Tremor and Tanya I am excited to see what they have planned.

Agreed 100%. Those 3 just seem too predictable to me and not like something NRS would do. I could see Rain or Baraka making it but I seriously doubt that Sindel would sell well at all, I'm kinda biased but whatever lol. I just don't see why people are so hesitant to have characters that we haven't seen in years come back.. Havik, Reiko, Bo, etc could all become fan favorites with their redesigns, but people don't want them as DLC because they think they will be the exact same as their last appearance which just boggles my mind. NRS has always took special care in redesigning characters, improving their already good attributes, and discarding the bad.

Instead of giving us a compatibility skin we get a Story Mode NPC?

1. Do you really think that a character would be the same amount of work as a costume? If not, why would they do the extra when they don't have to?

2. Does Rain being free circumvent the no repeat dlc thing. To some it might as the important thing is not paying for him twice but Im not sure if the quote from boon said no paid repeat dlc or just no dlc? Just wondering whether or not being free actually circumvents the issue

I could see Fujin getting released, but I'm still not sold on a legit full 4 character kombat pack release. I don't follow Boon's twitter nonsense tho so I don't know how often he's REALLY hinting at it. I could be outta the loop.

Remember all the complaining about how "safe" and "predictable" the roster was? Well wouldn't it also be safe and predictable to put in the fightable NPCs just because they're sorta done?

They finally have a chance to really do something with the roster and people want more MK9 characters. Which was also a big complaint at launch lol

Tremor's pants were retextured. They're brown with dark brown lines instead of tan with red lines. They no longer look like "clown pants", not that they ever did.

One or two wouldn't be so bad if they would even it out the rest of the pack with a couple characters like Bo' Rai Cho, Fujin, Reiko, Havik, Ashrah, Frost, or Nitara.

Don't give much of a damn about 'shaking things up and getting people surprised' thats what the first pack was for (and boy were you all surprised) and I think the NPCs should have priority because it's just unfair to keep them that way forever.

Like it or not but these characters have fans and it sucks seeing someone you like unplayable but still have to fight them in the story mode..that's not what I want to see for future MKs and characters.

Baraka was in MK9 at least, and the previous four games in a row. There have been characters who only have had one appearance in 15 years.

This. Save that cameo / fightable NPC stuff in the future for the overused cast members who've been in title after title without a break.

Hell Kabal, Sektor and Smoke are in here too but you dont fight them and they don't have new outfits and because of that I don't mind them not making it in the game.

At least characters like Li Mei, Frost, Bo Rai'Cho, Sareena and the like have the luxury of being able to sit on the shelf for the next MK to come.

Baraka? Not so much. Sindel? Why bring her back when Kitana can fill the role of Evil Queen now? The chances of Rain showing up ever again after this are laughably small.

I mean, people said the same thing about Rain last time since he was pretty much an afterthought but now he actually has plot relevance. Same could be said for Sindel. Just the roles between her and Kitana are reversed now. They're still together in "death" and Sindel could act as her lead enforcer. As for Baraka, well, he never actually goes anywhere nowadays. He's been prominently featured in every game for over a decade so.....
