Another thing: has anyone noticed that jax in MK9 was not exactly negroid? I mean he had clearly african traits since MKDA, and in MK9 he looks more like Dwayne Johnson.


I really do not want the rest of the black characters to look like watered down versions or milk-choco.

The only characters that can be divided by race are the ones that are from Earthrealm.

Hmm. Weird. I still see those traits. But he was indeed made lighter skinned than he ever been.

I'm sure one of the new characters is a black guy who is to replace Jax in MKX.

Well people pretty much consider Tanya black (personally I think because of the name) but people don't tend to discuss Jade so much as argue about which race she is.

I'd like it if Tanya was modified to a more of a Hindi-type chick just for diversity sake. They KINDA had it goin' on a bit in her face in MKD

Also, I'd hate to see Jax act gangster again like in MKDA. I liked how he was in MK 2011. I've met quite a few african american Majors (Army) in my line of work and all of them dropped the gang-banger-wanna-be-homie shit by that age.

The white/blank eyes are a sign that someone is without a soul. I do believe the Deadly Alliance took it when she went into service for them.

I dunno, that look always said Egyptian/Cleopatra to me.

The funny thing is that you guys nearly stumbled on a good point: technically race is just a social contruct. Genetically we are all the same. Physical traits changed based on climate and what not, but you can't tell someone's race by their blood.
NetherRealm should put the characters they want in the game, regardless of any other factors. I would argue for females, but MK has always had a good mix of female characters so that really isn't an issue. With that said I imagine Jax would be in the game; I don't know if OP is annoyed by that because they feel Jax is simply a token character or what. Maybe that was the case, but Jax is a lot better than Balrog for instance.
Personally, I've never saw Jax as a token character.

I think Jennifer Hedrick Thought it'd be cool or something she may not have paid attention to when redesigning her in her new and updated MK4 looks.

They tried that with Darrius in Deception. See how well that worked out? No one can replace the man with the metal arms. No one.

I liked Darrius, only thing that made him dull was his story. He should've been the leader of the Red Dragon. Something interesting. We already had Havik and Hotaru to represent the chao/order story well, we didn't need Dairou and Darrius added to it.

I... what? The story of Mortal Kombat has characters with skin colors ranging from normal to green scales, tiger stripes, and even no skin at all (Drahmin and Meat). The game is diverse enough as is because it takes place in worlds beyond Earth(realm) dealing with new races altogether. Jax is a cool character and I'll agree to that.

But to say he SHOULD be in the next game because he is black? That doesn't sound right. He should be included because he is a great character who just happens to be black.

In terms of diversity in the female roster we have Jade, Tanya, and I'm not sure about Li Mei.

I know of Jataaka's existence. I never played MK:Mythologies, was she an interesting/compelling character? Would she be worth bringing to the main series?

Her look is certainly strong, but again I never got to play Mythologies so I don't know what her role was in that game or what future she could have in the series.

Also it would be nice to have an Asian female in the MK universe. Street Fighter and Tekken have lots of representation but it's kind of lacking here.

Jax will return as he was one of the few good guys that survived in Story Mode.
Would you rather Jax or Darrius? I think all the ones that don't want Jax, will want Jax. I'd want both.

Jax died in story mode; he got a stiletto to the jugular. Raiden faces him as one of the undead warriors later.

In terms of Darrius vs Jax, I'll take Jax any day.

I think it'd be great to see a new black character, I do however want Jax, Cyrax, and Kai to return.
Jax and Cyrax because they're pretty iconic characters in the series, and Kai because I have very high hopes for the character this time around.
He's always been a very cool and interesting character to me, but something always just felt off about him.
