Oh, my bad! I just realized there's another black character in MK - Darrius. He's kinda cool. Better than Jax anyway.

Darrius is technically not black either. He's not from earth.

That said, it's fairly obvious he's meant to represent a black man.

He's Wesley Snipes in one costume and Jim Kelly in the other.

See, I thought his primary's puffy bubble-jacket armor looked dumb, but I liked the alt for going back to the MK1 style of basing dudes on kung fu movie characters. It had more personality, even if that personality didn't really fit his story.

My apologies. I should (not?) clarify? We're not underrepresented enough. The roster of MKX should include no more than -1 denizens. I would settle perhaps for a cameo Babality appearance.

People have considered her everything from black to latino/Hispanic to middle eastern to dark skinned Asian to purple, blue, and orange.

At the end of the day she has no race but she can be whatever you want her to be. So in that sense, there's no right or wrong as long as you understand the reality side of things- that she's a simply dark skinned non human. Same as Tanya.

I think that's the main reason why I didn't care for it, as it was just such a departure from his story. It felt a bit out of place. That said, I'd be open to see him come back in the future. His fatalities, especially the arm rip, were great, and I liked his overall look.

That said, there are other characters I'd rather see return than him but he's far from being on my shit list.

Kai has white stripes on his skin, but they are artificial. In his third costume in MK 4 (the leather jacket and jeans one) and his primary in MK: Armageddon his skin is perfectly normal. And he is black, even Ed Boon confirmed that.
