On the downside, her look from the story trailer seemed really bland to me. On the upside, I'm sure she'll have other looks that likely tie in to her personality.

Plus there's so much we don't know about her. I can't see her copying Jax moves since it seems like he'll be in the game. So how does she play?

I don't think that this has really been mentioned a lot, but who's her mom? We know Jax is her dad and this game is about the next generation of MK characters, so I'm kinda hoping there's a cool surprise in the story about Jacqui's origin, like Tanya's her mom (no clue why that'd be the case), and she actually has a different role to play in the Outworld conflict and her own mother betrays her etc.

Sorry for the tangent. The point is that one bland look and her being Jax's kid aren't enough for me to say she's a weak character when that's more or less all we know about her.

If we're looking at who's going to be "that" character in this game, my money's currently on Ferra/Torr. Decent design, decent move set, but Ferra's kinda annoying and they just sorta seem to be random henchmen #4 for Kotal. To me, that says expendable.

Of course, there's still a lot we don't know about them, so as with Jacqui, I'm holding off final judgment until the game's in my hands. Just giving a hunch here is all.

The only reason why she isn't my favorite is merely because of her association with Jax. I'm hoping she'll be able to stand on her own two feet as opposed to being Cassie's Jade though.

Her X-ray looked pretty sweet, reminded me of Jax's DA Piston Punch or whatever it was called.

On topic, i love Jacqui, but her joining the special forces is lame, like somebody else already said, i wish she was just a famous kickboxing champion, that's what i thought she'd be when she was first seen in the comics.

It's easy to pick through the newbies and critique which ones look bland and which ones look cool, because it's all personal opinion not based on gameplay. I've never really been sold on the 'Special Forces outfits' as I prefer my MK characters to stand out from one another and show their personalities to elevate their characters so the fact that Cassie, Jacqui and Takeda are all wearing 'uniform' ish looking clothing puts me off. Kung Jin's look, however, I dig.

As to her story and gameplay, that's the real big question because as I've mentioned, her primary (IF it's even her primary) looks pretty bland in design to stuff we've gotten in this game and in the past for characters. I'm hoping it's good news for the last 2 out of the 3 areas because I really want to have a positive impression on these newbies so here's hoping they surprise me with her story and gameplay.

Unfortunately Jacqui being related to Jax is the end of the road for me. Same thing for Cassie. I don't need to see gameplay, or finish story mode to know that this generations crap and following a bunch of (special forces) good guys is lame.

I've always been disappointed that NRS doesn't spend enough time expanding on the other side of things(the villains).

I swear this forum straight up hates Jax. Everyone has an aneurysm when that name gets brought up.

They've been backbroken too many times by Jax in MK2. Seriously though, she's got the best X-Ray.

Well you can rest easy knowing there's one person here who doesn't hate Jax; me. I'm just annoyed at the fact NRS never gives him anything worthwhile to do. So it really has nothing to do with hating him as a character and more hating how he's constantly handled. The character itself I've always liked. I just hope Jacqui doesn't get the same treatment.

People who don't like Jax most likely won't like Jacqui. People who do like Jax and play him often like me, probably will like Jacqui.

I believe she seems bland so far is because we haven't actually seen anything from her yet. Her design is very standard special forces girl. She punches repeatedly in her x-ray. She has a flamethrower/machine gun/rocket launcher on her wrist, but we haven't seen how she uses it. The only thing in common with Jax is heritage and name. I could totally see them playing and acting 100% differently.

the X-Ray idea is kinda simple but I like how quick and to the point it is. In a way it shows as much character as the longer, drawn out ones with unique abilities.

This is also the forum that's currently circulating a petition for the inclusion of Tremor. Just sayin'....

She is going to end up having a ground pound Hahahaha. She just looks like a person u add in the game so they can be killed. There look is not as good as the others so your like she going to die soon. Oh and jax story last game was kinda bad. Also he is a typical strong black man.

Dude the game isn't even out, how can you even judghe from like 1 second of gameplay you've seen.

Females are already the minority in mk but the fact that she is african american is how she is being judges. Which sucks by the ways.

On topic I like Jax a lot just because of his gameplay, he's always fun as hell to play in almost every game besides MKDA/MKD. His story is always lacking but I hope that's subject to change. Jacqui looks to be a mixed bag, I'm guessing I will enjoy her for her gameplay but hate her personality/story because she's bland as shit.

I ́ve never liked Jax until MK9, his gameplay was just awesome and fun to play, his design in X looks just spot on and I ́m looking forward to try him. Jacqui... I have to say her design is kinda off to me but I will wait until I see some gameplay.

I like Jax in MK9, but, like so many people have stated before, I have to see more of Jaqui to make a decision.

Jacqui and Ferra/Torr are the least appealing to me. It's been almost ten months and Ferra/Torr are still in a stalemate. And the bio I read today wasn't too impressive, but I at least like their concept and bits of their gameplay.

Ultimately though, if I had to choose a dud at this point, it would be Jacqui. The connection to Jax worries me, and I DO like her attitude, but that's honestly it.

Of course these are all assumptions, but that's all I can really dish out right now.

A strong backboned story doesn't hurt, but gameplay is key for me.

So a strong character who happens to be black in a fighting game is a stereotype? Almost everyone in the series is strong except for wormy dudes like Quan Chi.

Jax is also pretty smart (he has to be for his job and he's seen operating a lot of compllex things) and fast(everyone in MK is fast but his rush punch is really fast), a lot of characters in the games don't get to showcase their intelligence often because they're usually fighting.

If anything Jax's "cliche" is that he's US Military Special forces. Nobody calls Stryker a typical strong white dude.


Also if Jax was a tribute to blaxploitation heroes, he'd have Darrius' awesome alt costume.

Speaking of which, Black Dynamite would be a fun guest character.
