Is Jaqui the first new character dud of MKX?

I'm loving most of these new characters, but seriously fuck Jaqui

You know they spent five seconds coming up with Jaqui

"uuh, Jax needs a daughter, what should we name her?"

"how about Jackie? That sounds like Jax. It's poetry. Just spell it wierd."

"what should she be in the game?"

"why not put her on the Special Forces, like her dad."

If prefer her to just be a work famous kick boxer, then shit goes down and is forced to fight.

Also keep Jax fucking dead and explain that Jaqui is 5 during the events of MK3, so she can have a vendetta against Quan Chi when she learns who he is.

what are everyone else's thoughts?

Well considering we know next to nothing about the characters and their stories, it's a little preemptive to call her a "dud". We know nothing about Kung Jin either. You're oversimplifying her involvment to prove your point.

Cassandra followed in Sonya's footstep to become a special agent. Jaqueline could have wanted to be like her dad too.

The idea of her challenging Quan Chi to avenge her father's death in MK3 if he wouldn't come back is good, but so is a good ol' father/daughter relationship. Cassie and Takeda don't look like they'll get any of that, so I'm fine with it falling on Jaqui.

Way too soon to tell.

I was one of the people who didn't want her in because I didn't see what she could bring to the table. But they could always surprise me with something good. She has Exo Skeleton arms, maybe they give Jacqui faster attacks in addition to more strength. If she had fast hands that'd be a nice way to differentiate from Jax.

Yea actually, she's the character I'm most ambivalent toward. The whole being someone's daughter thing doesn't have quite the same hook to it following Cassie, especially since their parents are so similar (story wise). And the fact that she gets cyber arms just like her dad really makes her seem like more of a mock up job compared to the rest of the cast.

What do I think?

That Jacqui looks promising and I'm excited to see her variations. So pretty much the exact opposite of the OP.
The small roster is more of a dud than any of the new characters really

I disagree, she could be fun to play as and be a decent character. If any of the new characters are duds, IMO its Kung Jin. Not sure why but he isn't appealing to me, he also looks goofy to me as well, based on what we have seen id pick Jaqui over him in a heartbeat.

This is all subject to change however, but based on what we have seen so far, he is my least favorite new comer.

Jacqui looks better than Cassie and we have seen next to nothing of her. At least from the trailer she didn't seem to have the horribly forced "edginess" like Cassie that makes me wonder how people think she is humorous.

It's really too soon to call her a dud. Sure, her gimmick is uninspired in that she shares it with her father, but a complete dud? Still waiting on that verdict.

I have a feeling her arm things will be pretty versatile, moreso than Jax's, and I think that's a pretty cool gimmick.

People have said there seems to be an LED on them that denotes her different variations. Maybe they do different things with her arm augmentations like a force blast, flamethrower, electricity, increased strength, etc.

That'ls based on nothing but wishful thinking but that's something that would make her interesting for me to play personally.

I'm already bored of the "next generation" aspect. I would have much rather see an offspring of JC and SB, and an offspring of a few badguys, than a ton of goodguy offspring with multiple ties to Special Forces... it gets boring...

The real duds, if they are in the roster, are Jax, Sonya, Cage & Liu Kang. Boring wastes of space, and roster fillers to get people to pay for the characters that people actually care about via dlc.

I just hope she's a great fighter like in the comics, the whole Special Forces suit should just be an alternate and more story related.
