I'd actually prefer it if they kept the remaining characters a secret untill release. I am glad Hemmerick confirmed on Twitter that not all characters will be revealed before release

I didn't start this thread to say that people who won't buy it are wrong.

My point is: is it really necessary for nrs to reveal so so much about the game pre-launch? We are going to buy it anyway. Let us have some surprises.

As for the OPs question, absolutely!! I didn't know who was meant to be in deception or deadly alliance until I played it. It made unlocking in the krypt a lot more fun

Don't think anyone was necessarily saying that about the topic, we're all just stating opinions here. As for your point, no, it's not necessary for NRS to reveal so much about the game. It's ridiculous to expect them to reveal everything, especially considering the franchise has such a rich history and background with easter eggs, surprises and secrets. But that should include the roster, too, as far as I'm concerned. They are riding on enough good faith from their past several games that they shouldn't need to reveal everything for the general masses either.

With that said, however, I still say the marketing in general for the game has been a little wonky but I think that has more to do with WB than NRS considering how wonky Arkham Knight's marketing has been as well. That game is out in several months and literally all they've shown to the public is one trailer, one demo reel split into 3 parts and some screenshots most of which consist only of the friggin' batmobile.

Yes, I actually would like for them to not even release any story trailer, any game mode reveals and hope the brutality stream will just be one character as a tease for the real game. We already have seen too many fatalities, we get it, they are awesome. No reason to show of one for every character anymore. Also Goro gameplay should also be a tease in a trailer / commercial, no extended variation reveals etc.

I would've been fine with the E3 roster and their X-rays & 1 fatality + Raiden, Kano, Quan Chi & Goro pre-order. Brutalities was a given from the start, it's just that people on the internet were so stupid with their own wants of a freaking other ality like animality, they they ignored the Ed Boon hint. So that reveal now, while awesome, should've been kept under wraps for me.

Since this is not an option anymore, I would say reveal a little more than half so maybe 2-3 more of the old MK games. Since there's a stream every 2 weeks, have 1 more now and 2 during March. As the game nears, they will do television commercials and trailers anyway so in April people can wait.

I'd be really pissed about the wait, though. I'd probably go in with zero hype. And I don't like surprises, so who knows what I would think about all the dead people in the game (while I've gotten over them during the wait).

Yes. In fact this will be my last post until i purchase my xbox one and mkx in June when i can afford them. I want that wonderment of the first time i saw mk2 in the arcade and said "who's that Asian dude with the black and yellow hat on the select screen" and someone said Shang Tsung. I flipped! ! I am going to bookmark this page and come back here as soon as i turn the game on and see the select screen thank you friends that I've made along the way on this journey since the reveal trailer! No questions asked, I buy a new MK on the moment they announce one. I grew up with this shit. I love the franchise as a whole, not just one or two characters.

I buy MK games not because of their rosters, so yeah, I would.

When Mortal Kombat Deception came out I only know about a handful of characters. I was new to the internet and didn't know about forums and only used this place for news. So yeah I only knew about Raiden,Sub-Zero,Baraka,Ashrah,Scorpion,Ermac,Noob/Smoke, Thanks to that PSN magazine. And I knew about Kira thanks to the Kombat cards they were releasing.

I'd buy it because its Mortal Kombat. I just wouldn't be particularly pleased with Nether Realm for not knowing the roster. I'm cool with a few secrets here and there, but only knowing less than half the roster is a bit much.

Pretty much. I was ready to buy the most expensive edition but I ended up going with the standard one with combat pack.

I've said it before and I'll say it again -

I don't even consider myself a gamer. I used to love the majority of fighting games growing up, like Tekken, Soul Calibur, or DOA. But there just came a point where I totally lost interest in all of those. I want to say Tekken 4 was the last Tekken I was legitimately interested in and I temporarily dabbled in SCIII prior to MK9's release.

MK is the only franchise I've faithfully followed since gaming blew the fuck up...and I guarantee it'll stay that way.

All you'd have to do if you wanted to know the full roster before you make a purchase is to wait a day after release to check out a site that lists all the characters and if you're happy with the list you can go ahead and buy it.

What kind of question is that? Of course I would. Lol your asking this on a MK fan site. Who wouldn't buy the game? I actually don't want anymore reveals especially for story. I want to be suprised about stuff when I buy the game. Which I have a preorder on and paid half of it already.

I pre-ordered it the first day it was available to pre-order. I'm not like a lot of the whiny people here who cry over their faves returning. Also, none of my top 5 have been revealed, and one of them has be deconfirmed (Jade), and only 2 of my top 10 are in (and that's still a maybe since we don't know which Sub-Zero it is, but as long as it's one of the two brothers we know, I'm good).

It would be awesome to have a game where all of my favorites get in (that doesn't suck, like Armageddon), but not having them all in gets me to play as other characters and maybe find some new favorites with new characters.

I've been a Mortal Kombat fan since I was 4 and unless the story gets Annihilation bad, I'm not going to stop playing.
