Hydro as New Sub-Zero?

Wait so you watched the trailer, saw he fights like Sub-zero, thought he could be Hydro, then said he would have different moves? In a way you just contradicted yourself. Besides, if he were Hydro, he would've shot jets of water that froze on contact. Nothing in the intro yelled water powers as he:
1)froze a branch into a club instantly (no water stream)
2)has an ice sword (kori blade)
3) the environment was suddenly freezing around the blue-clad warrior
4)shot small balls that freeze (not a stream of water that froze on contact)
So that guy in the trailer? He's Sub-zero. I dunno what the story is but when you make special trailer for Mortal Kombat, Scorpion will fight Sub-zero.

I surely hope not. Instead of creating 'new' characters from past stuff (Skarlet, Tremor, Hornbuckle, Zebron), I'd rather they create new characters from scratch.

Pretty sure Ed's gonna do that this time around. Just saying they can bring back past non used characters as well.

Well I can see them giving Tremor an original non-ninja look with new moves, but others I don't know.
- Hydro's really just an extra that died, and he has moves that could be given to Rain.
- 'Hornbuckle's' irrelevant now since this new timeline is supposedly gets rid of Blaze's purpose.
- Tasia is just an assassin that looks like Li Mei and we don't really need any more Black Dragon if Tremor's included.
- Kia and Jataaka are more like side-characters that add to Sareena's story.
- And Zebron well... Zebron.

Belokk? Aqua? Plus Hydro can actually use his water to Freeze, which kinda isn't Rain's gimmick if you catch my drift.

Aqua? Never heard of him... but do we need Aqua with Hydro? And even if he could freeze somebody, it's not the same way Sub-Zero freezes someone, they have different powers. Sub-Zero is a cryomancer, Hydro's not.
And Belokk was an unfinished character for MK4/Gold, we know nothing of his story or moveset. The only thing we know is what he's supposed to look like. So is he really that important? Or could they just take from his design and create a new character instead?

I notice in the MKX trailer when Sub freeze Scorp tho that a blue mist emits when he does it unlike an ice spark shower that usually shows when your hit with an ice ball so maybe a water freeze, I'm looking way to into this but just saying as of right now Ed could easily make this guy a new Sub with what we've seen so far, It could be anybody but I'm just saying it would be cool if it was Hydro.

I just see that as cool new presentation of Sub-Zero's freeze, a grittier and more visceral look to what we've seen in the past. Plus I'm pretty sure we see Kuai Liang's scar at the end when his head is chopped off so I think you are looking way too into it.

I'd be against it 'cause it's iconic to Sub-Zero, but anything's possible with the new timeline. But I still believe 100% that is Kuai Liang in that teaser trailer.

Yes, but I'm tired of all this speculation, on my part included lol. I guess we'll get most of our answers answered come E3.

This really isnt directed at Hydro, necessarily, but why do I keep reading posts about certain characters needing "time to shine" or "spotlight"?
I dont know what you are expecting or wanting to happen. I think a slot on a roster is "spotlight" enough, and if enough players like them they will be expanded. Characters dont "deserve" anything. Theyre just characters.
So saying something like Frost should get some "time to shine" is weird. Shes been a playable character. Thats a lot. SubZero being absent wouldnt change anything. People would just be pissed that SubZero wasnt there.

I see what your saying, Some people just like to share there ideas of a wy a certain unused MK character could be interested & fit into the story & see if others agree or not. When it's done alot it may bother alot of people of course but to me personally I like to see people's ideas so for me not so much.
Nice sig by the way tho.

Thanks, dawg!
As far as Hydro goes, I wouldnt mind a bit if he was included. Would even be pretty cool. But not as SubZero. You cant be better SubZero than SubZero, so be Hydro. And ideally be an awesome Hydro.

I suppose, Just saying this would be a shock as well as an unexpected change for MK seeing how for the first time since 1993 someone else dones the Sub-Zero name.
Only thing scary about Hydro being his own is that fans might feel he may be to similar to rain & even then you'll have people saying "WE HAVE FROST!" so his chances would lessen which would suck but hey everyone has their opinions so whatever, I think it would just be cool.

He would have to have a unique moveset and gimmick, to be sure. He doesn't need to freeze anything. He doesn't need to be like Rain either. The best thing to do with him is to go with the Cyber Hydro idea. Have him do the electro-water thing. That would make him plenty unique.
